I genuinely think Trump and Hegseth thought Iran was some backwards country whose only non-nuclear defense is arrows and spears

WaPost cites evidence that Russia is giving Iran target intelligence. Trump badmouths a FoxNews host for bringing that up. We are royally screwed.

Trump and Hogsbreath are both incompetent imbeciles! Neither one of them should be responsible in any way for the protection of this country!

The Empire is engaging in war on multiple fronts. It won't take much for it to collapse, now. But, uh... do you think, just maybe, you guys could get ready for a civil war and make another front on the homefront? Asking on behalf of the rest of the planet.

One job, and a cheap ass drone takes it out.

I remember when Dick Cheney said that invading Iraq would be a "cake walk." Iran is a helluva lot more technically sophisticated than Iraq is, and considerably larger to boot.

So it was built in open terrain with no basic point defense or hardening. Typical

The military has to be the biggest form of sunken cost fallacy of modern times. Imagine where we would be as a planet if after WWII we all just said: "Ok that was a total waste of energy and money, lets just put all our effort into improving everyone's life." All those billions pumped into education, research and urban development, instead of all this defence stuff that basically is the equivalent of single use plastics.

300 Million? Compared to our Defense Budget, that'll cover like a two martini lunch.

Can't even make 2 commercials with that kind of money

USA allies "Accidentally" shot down 3 planes in 1 day (with USA missiles) and it cost about 50% more than this radar system. USA is spending 1 billion a day, 1.3b is a drop in the bucket.

Russia has provided Iran with information that can help Tehran strike US military, AP sources say

IF you had told me 10 years ago, that i would be cheering on Iran to beat the shit out of American troops, I would not have believed you. But here we are.....

this is why we can't have nice things. Like food, housing, medical care, living wages...

I was listening to Hegseth’s jingoistic speech earlier today. And as I listened, I said that I feared that his comeuppance would come with a price tag measured in lives of American soldiers. The only question was how high.

Welp…🤷🏾‍♂️

Nice job, Iran. :)

More than likely it was Russia. They have the satellites that could easily identify these sites in the months leading up to the war. Its not like the US moved them once the war started, or even warned the operators that the war was starting. So Iran could quite easily pre-program a bunch of attack destinations and radar would be the primary one.

So, Russia does something good for global peace?

Update: Iran has destroyed 2 THAAD radar systems. The US had a grand total of 9 THAAD and now we have 7. Week 1 and Iran is beating the US at their own game of air superiority. This administration is definitely dumb enough to respond to these defeats by going all in with troops on the ground and losing even harder.

Does it make me a bad person or anti-American that this sort of news makes me happy? We shouldn't have attacked Iran whatsoever, to begin with. I'm glad they're fighting back and putting the oligarchs and cannibalistic pedophiles in check. Trump and Netanyahu need to be erased from the future.

People (cultists) in america are goign to learn that Iran is NOTHING like Iraq was....Iran is large and has a military and isnt hiding in caves. This will last ages and both sides are going to suffer greatly. Trump & his Israeli master are 100% to blame and their followers are guilty by supporting the uncalled for attack that started it.

*bigly

Yup. First hit only shimmed away some of the most obvious stuff they had. AND took out the 'leader' that wanted to go out that way anyways (HEROIC INSTANT DEATH vs a slow decline by cancer, which is what he actually probably deserved?) and the attack only gives them the 100% legal excuse to smack down a LOT of the infrastructure the USA (And Israel) need to maintain ANY level of operations in the middle east. This is not going to 'end' with Iran, and THAT will take a long time itself.

IMO if this was done with any intelligence behind it, it was an attempt to spark off WWIII, and if it was done .. well as we expect, from the shit show lead by the child raping, nazi adoring, shit splattered clown's normal lack of any kind of understanding of anything yet steadfast allusion that he is right about everything, it is just another blunder in a long, long line of blunders, all intended as 'distractions' from the last blunder. Remove that fool already America.

wouldnt of ever sparked ww3.
People need realzie a scuffle (iran is victim in this) between 3 countries isnt a world world people just like to throw that stupid term to make it seem more scary than it is. (as that gets attention)

The longer this goes on the happier Trump will be.

And the more stuff gets destroyed, the more taxpayer money will be funneled to the military industrial complex.

EVERYBODY (who matters) wins.

Dead soldiers on both sides, taxpayers in the US, displaced civilians in the Middle East, dead schoolgirls, etc? It's their own fault for not paying off the people who matter.

Any conflict with Iran the US always knew it was going massive cluster fuck of them launching as many missiles as they can to overwhelm Air defense systems. The US military plan in cases like this aren't to match them interceptor to missile. Air defense job was to hold out till Air force takes out all the launchers. which at the start of day 8, Iran missile launches have dropped from a peak of 350 in a day to 15 and peak of over 500 drones to 12.

1 month ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 2

Drones are also an issue. The US air defense isn't built for cheap, mass produced drones, and a single patriot missile costs an order of magnitude more than a shaheed, and you have to fire more than one to guarantee a hit. Interestingly, there's someone who knows a lot about quick and cost-effective methods to defeat Iranian drones, and that's Ukraine. The US could have gone and consulted with them, but apparently they simply didn't.

1 month ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 1

Drone launches are also down over 90% since the beginning of the conflict

1 month ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Apparently Ukrainian counter-drone specialists are now being flown in to the region, but by the Brits not the Americans. I bet the Americans aren't even going to say thank you.

Where do you get those numbers?

Counting know launches from open source data. Liveua is a good reference

To be more specific, I think they thought it was another Afghanistan.

1 month ago | Likes 86 Dislikes 1

they probably forgot that Iran used to be somewhat allied to the US, and the US sold them a fuck ton of equipment, cut them off for parts and servicing, then Iran had to get good quickly at reverse engineering, and has a bunch of semi-recent Russian and Chinese gear besides their home grown.

1 month ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Tbf Afghanistan was a cluster fuck of monumental proportions, and we really didn’t “win” there as much as occupy the major cities and let the rural areas do what they wanted.

1 month ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 0

And we were still stuck there for almost 20 years

1 month ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

So many priceless artifacts and unique historical monuments ignored and destroyed to protect fucking oil sites.

Don't forget all the Afghani's that got bombed and tortured for oil and capitol, too.

And opium ... can't forget that. Even though no-one wants to acknowledge it.

Don't be silly, there are non partisan senior enlisted personnel who advise the president on these issues.
It's not like a third world country where people would be scared to present facts to the president.
