The King is a constrictor and he killed or almost killed the rattler before he started eating. It amazes me that 115 people know no better.

It must have bit it before getting eaten. But kingsnakes are immune to their venom. The rattlesnake couldn't open its mouth on the inside

Or someone cut it open. Kingsnakes usually have to eat other snakes alive. No way to really strangle another snake. At least harder.

I doubt highly it fought its way out because I don’t think they can chew; more likely it was too big for the king to eat and he popped out.
