I don’t know why, with everything going on I have been reflecting on what I’ve done to make a lasting and meaningful impact in the world and I really don’t think I have. I’ve always been a support rather than a main character, you know?

I guess I won’t be remembered as a man selling shitty copper so there is that.

Any who, thanks for letting me vent into the void. The hot sauce is still going well so at least I’m excited for that.

that's the main problem with american society: the hero complex, the self importance. Everyone thinking that if they alone can't make a difference then it's not worth doing anything. you live in a society, there are others like you, if you do it together, you can accomplish great things. Be it making someone's day a little more bearable, or toppling a government

If you voted, you made an impact. Do that on repeat.

We grew up learning only about the few. We memorized dates and a few names, as if that’s all that existed at the time. Those few people were history. That’s why you feel off. You were never taught or exposed to the normalcy of all of us. They gave you their version. They taught you their version. They never teach you the history of humanity. Only the view of those who concur.

People, as a rule, do not individually do that typically.

Just participate in your own way.

My dude, the number of us who have a lasting impact on society is so statistically insignificant that it’s an outlier human experience and fucks with the head.

you seem like one of the helpers to me. i understand this feeling, though

My dude. You’re a teacher. Everyone remembers the good teachers and the lessons they imparted. Just keep doing what you do and you’re making a HUGE impact on hundreds of lives throughout your career

There are some days I don’t feel I’m a good teacher. Hey, I appreciate this comment. Thank you.

Butterfly effect my friend. Even if the changes and impacts you make are small, they can still lead to larger and more historical events being changed in ways both big and small. So, fear not. You are still important and have worth no matter what anyone says, even if the person saying it is you.

Every small thing matters. Did you help someone who was helping? Can you offer kind advice? Are you able to donate time, money, resources to a good cause? Most of us won't ever make that grand gesture, but all of us can help.

In the grand scheme of things, we're all just blips on the galactic radar. You let people know they are beautiful bastards and enjoy making hotsauce. High five, friend.

Each and every thing you do to help someone, to make someone's day a bit happier, or to bring some real joy in the world, no matter how little, is enough.

Don't worry about making a lasting impact on all of society.

Make a good, lasting impact on the beings around you that you care about.

Exactly this. The simplest thing you can do is be a good human and a safe place for just one other person. Share your garden harvest. Offer to make a grocery run. Drink gin and play gin rummy.

Helping is helping.

I saw a quote that resonated (and helps): "When it comes to time travel, people always worry about doing something small in the past that changes the present. But few have the same feeling about doing something small in the present that changes the future."
