"Before creation itself, there were six singularities. Then the universe exploded into existence, and the remnants of these systems were forged into concentrated ingots... Infinity Stones." - The Collector

The Infinity Stones are to the Marvel Cinematic Universe what the White Walkers are to Game of Thrones. The MCU saga has been building to one colossal, culminating event. In the background of every single movie since Iron Man came out in 2008, the potential threat of the Infinity Stones has been present. The Infinity Stones are a truly monumental danger on their own, each possessing unique and all-powerful capabilities. However, it seems only beings of extreme power are capable of wielding the stones. Any relatively average individual that attempts to handle an infinity stone is either vaporized on the spot, or is eventually killed in some other fashion befitting the specific Infinity Stone.

The Space Stone (The Tesseract)

The Space Stone is representative of the fabric of space, and when used correctly it can open gateways to other parts of the universe and grant its user interdimensional travel. On screen, we see it as The Cosmic Cube, however the cube is merely a containment unit for the stone that resides within.(Sometimes called The Cosmic Cube)
This is the first Infinity Stone seen on screen in the MCU, and the one audiences are likely the most familiar with. Uncovered by Johann Schmidt (aka The Red Skull) in WWII, it was put to use by the Nazi Science Division, HYDRA, to develop advanced technologies and weaponry for the Nazis. In steps Captain America and BAM, Red Skull is lost through a portal and the Tesseract along with Cap are lost in the ocean. (We’ll come back to Cap and his story in a later post)
It was later recovered by Howard Stark, who thought it could be used as a source for unlimited sustainable energy for the planet.

Many years later, Loki uses the Space Stone to teleport himself to Earth where he launches the assault on New York that we see in the first Avengers movie. The Tesseract is used atop Stark Tower to open a portal to another part of the universe from which the Chitauri (an alien army that answers to Thanos) attempt to invade Earth. Long story short, the Avengers assemble, kick all sorts of ass, and have Thor return both the Tesseract and his brother Loki to Asgard.

The last we see of the stone is Loki eyeing it as he and the rest of the Asgardians retreat from their home planet in Thor: Ragnarok.
If Thanos acquires the Space Stone, it will allow him to open gateways to wherever he wants in the known universe. Shiiiiiiiiiiit.

Pictured: Chitauri invaders using a portal created by the Space Stone

The Reality Stone (Aether)

This might be the Infinity Stone that spooks me the most. The Reality Stone has the ability to transform the universe itself. It doesn’t take the form of a physical stone, rather a menacing dark red liquid untethered by the laws of physics. Over millenia some of the stones have been altered and used by powerful beings as either a gift to benefit their civilizations, or as a weapon to carry out their insidious will.

The Aether is used to convert regular matter into dark matter, thus draining the life force from it. It appears to be an all-consuming force with a single goal; to uh, ya know, consume all.
We see The Aether in Thor: The Dark World being wielded by Malekith, leader of the dark elves. IMO, Malekith is just an emo little bitch who wants to use the Aether to consume all like in the universe, bringing an age of eternal darkness. Malekith, being the little bitch boi that he is, was defeated by Thor and the Aether was then contained by the Asgardians and given to the sketchy-as-all-hell Collector for safe-keeping.

The last time we see the Reality Stone it is in the hands of The Collector in his museum on Knowhere, a location later seen in Guardians of the Galaxy. In Guardians of the Galaxy, however, the museum is destroyed in an explosion, scattering its contents scattered to the celestial wind.
If Thanos acquires the Reality Stone, he might start sporting an all-black look and lock himself in his room. But really, he could potentially use this stone to bend the laws of physics to his will. Pls no.

"One down. Five to go."

The Power Stone

The Power Stone is representative of the destructive nature of the universe. It is capable of annihilating entire planets. The stone also grants its user enhanced strength, durability, and most importantly immense power, often expelled in the form of bright purple energy.
We first see the Power Stone in Guardians of the Galaxy, where it is uncovered by the intergalactic equivalent of Indiana Jones, Peter Quill aka Star Lord. It is in this movie that we get to finally explore some of the background of the Infinity Stones, and where the Guardians are shown a glimpse of the full might of the Power Stone. The Power Stone is later captured by a Kree zealot known as Ronan the Accuser, who’s original task was to retrieve the stone for Thanos. Ronan instead decides he wants to use the stone to raze Xandar, homeworld of the peacekeeping force known as The Nova Corps. He then shows us how truly powerful he is by containing the Power Stone in the head of his warhammer.

Eventually, the day is saved by Peter Quill’s slick dance moves and an overall team effort by his fellow Guardians of the Galaxy. Star Lord manages to wield the Power Stone by himself, almost being torn to pieces in the process. By uniting hands with the other Guardians and using the true power
of friendship the Power Stone is safely placed within its containment orb.

The Power Stone is then given to the Nova Corps for safekeeping.
The last known location of the Space Stone is with The Nova Corps on Xandar. They're gonne be fine. Its fine. Everything is fine.
If Thanos were to obtain the Power Stone, the already extremely powerful Mad Titan’s strength would be enhanced to a terrifying degree.

Edit: Corps not Core. How presidential of me.

Pictured: Eson The Searcher wielding the Power Stone in a super-spooky glimpse of the past.

Pictured: The Guardians showing that friendship is the REAL power.

The Mind Stone

The Mind Stone represents - you guessed it - all things encompassing the mind. It’s capabilities are vast.
We unknowingly see it in the first Avengers movie contained within Loki’s staff which was a gift from Thanos. Loki uses this staff to fire blasts of energy and to control the minds of various individuals.
In Avengers: Age of Ultron, we see the staff is being used by HYDRA to create enhanced individuals such as Wanda and Pietro Maximoff (Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver).

Once reclaimed by Tony Stark, he and Bruce banner use it to create Ultron, a peacekeeping A.I. supposedly capable of protecting the planet from intergalactic threats. This AI pretty much instantly decides that to usher in peace, humanity must go extinct - so it doesn’t really work out like Tony intended. Ultron eventually gets ahold of Loki’s scepter and removes the Mind Stone held within to construct The Vision. Vision was originally intended to be Ultron’s ideal form, but The Avengers intervene in time to combine him with Tony’s less intuitive A.I. JARVIS. (I’ll get into The Vision in a later post) The Mind Stone is most commonly connected with mind control, communication across the universe, and apparently creating enhanced individuals.

The last time we saw The Mind Stone it was resting suuuuper safely in the equally suuuuper safe Vision's forehead on Earth.
If Thanos were to obtain this stone, I’m uncertain how exactly he would use it’s specific abilities. I don’t imagine he’ll use it to convince everyone to be his friend though.

Pictured: The Mind Stone being removed from Loki's scepter.

The Time Stone (Eye of Agamotto)

The Time Stone is representative of the nature of Time in the universe. From what we have seen, this stone is capable of controlling and altering the flow of time.
Housed in the ancient Eye Of Agamotto, the Time stone is first seen and wielded in Doctor Strange. In the film he initially uses The Eye to help himself study the art of sorcery, and ultimately to defeat the film's antagonists through its ability to manipulate the flow of time. In this movie, Dr. Strange freezes time to keep our reality from being consumed by The Dark Dimension, which is obviously an incredibly happy and safe place to live. The Dark Dimension is inhabited by Dormammu, an all-consuming demon that I'll get into later on. Eventually, Doctor Strange traps the interdimensional dickhead in a time-loop. Dormammu kills Strange over and over again, only to keep repeating the same process as the good Doctor can simply rewind reality back to their first encounter. He strikes a bargain with Dormammu and the world is saved. (We'll cover this a bit more in future posts).

At the end of the film, the Time Stone is revealed to reside inside The Eye of Agamotto. Doctor Stephen Strange is named Sorcerer Supreme and is charged with the safekeeping of the artifact.

The last time we saw the Time Stone it was still inside The Eye of Agamotto, locked away in the Sanctum Sanctorum in New York City under the protection of Doctor Strange.
If Thanos were to obtain the Time Stone, he wouldn’t just be in charge of the flow of time for himself, but the flow of time for EVERYONE. How do you even stop that?

Pictured: Dr. Strange demonstrating the awesome might of the Time Stone on a villainous apple.

The Soul Stone

The Soul Stone is a topic of wild speculation as it has yet to be shown in a Marvel movie. It is the sixth and final stone needed for a fully functional Infinity Gauntlet.
Since we don’t know for certain if we have seen it at work in the movies, I’ll list a few of its capabilities from the comics it has appeared in.

In the comics, the Soul Stone is sentient. It is constantly trying to consume and house individual souls within itself. It can peer into the soul of a person to reveal their deepest desires or darkest secrets. Lastly, it is also capable of reverting an individual, ie. The Hulk, back to their natural state.
My guess is that it is contained or correlates directly with the vibranium found exclusively in Wakanda. In Black Panther we see that most everything in their culture revolves around vibranium; their immensely advanced technology, even their seemingly magical fruits all show properties not found anywhere else on the planet. In the opening sequence of the film, a vibranium meteor is described crashing into Wakanda. This seemingly magic metal came from outer space, who's to say if that meteor only contained vibranium? Furthermore, when T’Challa drinks juice from the heart-shaped herb and travels to the Ancestral Plane, it seems like the sort of thing one would be able to do with help from the Soul Stone, no?

If Thanos obtains The Soul Stone, he’ll either get really into Aretha Franklin and Marvin Gaye, or he’ll possibly harvest the souls of The Avengers. Could go either way.

So, why do all of these stones matter?

When all 6 Infinity Stones are mounted in their places on the gauntlet, it will allow the wearer virtually limitless godly abilities. Most notably, the ability to wipe out all life in the universe. Based off the trailers, we know Thanos wants to wipe out only half. Thanos would be the greatest threat our heroes have ever faced and frankly, I don’t know how he could be stopped with even one of them.

Excited? Scared? Aroused??

Thanks for reading and see you tomorrow!

What about The eternal flame from Asgards vault in Thor Ragnarok? Ability to bring back long dead army kinda seems like infinity stone thing

doesn't really bring them back..just reanimates them..they don't have souls ir look as they did in the past

I absolutely love the movie MCU but have never read the comics so this post is soooo awesome for me. Bring me more!

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Not the power of friendship, the Collector literally said in the same movie that a group can divide the power for a short time.

8 years ago | Likes 45 Dislikes 2

I think OP was being sarcastic.

8 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 1

In the comics, the infinity gems are what was left after one of the first and most powerful beings in the universe destroyed itself.

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Thanks for this. Finally learnt something today. Keep up the good work

8 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

I appreciate that! I'll be posting one every weekday until Infinity War comes out.

It's a bit dated anyhow at this point, just giving people the timeline. I didn't start watching marvel movies until GotG

Damn fine job @OP! I's nice to have it all summed up, and in such festive language! A solid 5/7!

I'll take it! Thanks!

Finally someone understands!

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Looks more like Inifity Easter Eggs to me. ;)

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I mean having the soul stone in Earth would be kinda ridiculous since that would mean Earth started out with 3 stones and currently has 3.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

They already said it is not in Wakanda. The reason for that being in the movie isbthey are hiding vision there.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Sauce? Just genuinely curious, i haven't heard anything about that. That leads me to wonder what the deal is with the ancestral plain?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If you look at the post credit scene behind Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, they make reference to Adam in a chamber with soul gem on top.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

It’s definitely Adam, but I don’t think it’s the soul gem.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I thought there were 7 dragon balls...

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

The seventh is you. The seventh is within all of us.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

At the end of the Guardian 2, the sovereign are creating Adam Warlock. If this is true, not even Thanos can stop him.

8 years ago | Likes 64 Dislikes 3

That was more of a "maybe we'll do this Adam character some day, but probably not" kind of teaser.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Adam probably has the soul gem, since that's his thing in the comic, but why would you think Thanos can't stop him? He's beat him before.

8 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

I was mistaken, i thought Adam Warlock was Abraxas.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Unfortunately, according to James Gunn, that was more of an easter egg than anything. We won't be seeing Warlock for a while, if ever.

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

No, he said it's a set-up for the third Guardians movie. So we won't see him in Infinity War or Avengers 4.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Source? Because in every interview I've seen, he explicitly states that Warlock isn't a set-up for Guardians 3 at all.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I remember reading him saying that when Vol.2 came out, but one minute of research now has proven that, yep, you are correct.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Honestly, it would't surprise me if it's all misdirection anyway

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I always assumed Heimdall had it, allowing him to "See every soul in the universe" and thus his orange eyes and lack of in Thor's vision

8 years ago | Likes 45 Dislikes 1

That would mean he doesn't known or he lied to everyone about it, since Asgardians only trusted themselves to have one.

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Yeah, because Odin was never a hypocritical old douchebag about anything else.

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

maybe it was housed in K'un Lun, with Shou-Lao the Undying

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Lol that would mean rhe MCU would acknowledge the tv shows, and that'll never happen.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I hope not. It gives too much potential for iron fist involvement, and he's terrible

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

He just needs to get a new outfit and shave his head

And recast him

Now do one on the Elements of Harmony.

Wasn’t Drax the Destroyer created by Thanos’ father and grandfather with the sole intention of being the only one who can defeat Thanos? Im

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Drax will be featured later this week!

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

Yay :D

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yep. He was also not an alien.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Which means he can’t kill him..? Or

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No, it just means that unlike the movie, there isn’t a species of Draxes running around. He was a human in the comics.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And then there's Goku

Relevant Name.

So...uh Saitama < Infinity Stones?

Goku no

8 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 1

Goku sucks. Dragon Ball Z sucks.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 12

This fuckin guy, eh?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Yeah, you’re drawn funny.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

This is the reason why Goku loses to so many other fictional characters.

8 years ago | Likes 144 Dislikes 6

"Sure, Superman, hang out in the sun for 10 million years, I'll be here."

8 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 1

There's a comic called Superman One Million, where he lives to be one million years old. Long story short, he becomes a reality-altering god

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Goku doesn't really like artifically enhanced power though. He likes power to be people's inehrently.

8 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 1

Typically, but he prefers a tough fight over everything so if he bodies Thanos without the gems, he'd likely give them to him just for a

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

good fight.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

No, that’s more of Vegeta’s thing

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 4

Both of them have done it for their own reasons. Vegeta is prideful and sees himself as able to beat anybody. Goku is a kid who likes to

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Eh. He doesn't give his enemies the Dragon Balls to power up, even when they want them.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Because he knows they wouldn't use them to power up so much as wish to destroy everything or make themselves immortal, which by dragonball

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The Infinity Gems can and will be used to do that.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

wish standards means even goku would know he'd lose. Of course he also had no problem throwing cell a sensu bean to recover for a fight

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

IIRC, the stones are actually much weaker on their own. The power one can access with a stone is dependent on how they handle the other

8 years ago | Likes 461 Dislikes 3

Yeah, that stupidity came more than a decade after the actual Infinity Gauntlet publication.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Still super powerful alone. The beings that had them in the comics didn't know what they were, so they were easily defeated by Thanos.

8 years ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 1

Reality stone is amazing when combined with WEB BALL

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Even on their own, they’re still insanely powerful.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

So they're not the chaos emeralds

8 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 4

No, because that would make for a short movie.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

"Oh, Jesus! I don't have your stuff, man! Don't hurt me! *shields self with Tails*"

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Also, the "gauntlet" is meaningless. Just a vessel for the stones. Could have easily been a bracelet or cup or peewee league soccer trophy.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

stones. Ultimately, when together, this creates a loop that enhances each stones' individual capabilities.

8 years ago | Likes 249 Dislikes 4

It's not a matter of how many stones you have. It's the Infinity Gauntlet that amplifies the power of the Infinity Stones.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's how they're going to work in the new Marvel comics, but we're not sure if that carries over to the film's yet.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

So like equipping a set of armor and getting a set bonus

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

That infinitly scales

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Mastery over one stone is dependent on mastery over a medium related to another. In this way, for example 1/

8 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 0

It bothers me this isn't on its side like an infinite symbol ∞

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Dr. Strange, who has great mastery of space through his magic, also has a very strong connection to the time stone. 2/

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

By having each stone, their powers amplify one another, leading to "infinite" power, hence the name. Even one stone short renders 3/

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

the collection significantly less powerful, though still overwhelmingly amazing. Keeping Thanos from getting all 6 is the No 1 priority. 4/4

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

There's only one person who can stop Thanos now.

8 years ago | Likes 389 Dislikes 4

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

It still baffles me that Thanos had two stones and gave them to Loki for his end game of...getting what? The one other stone on Earth? ->

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Wouldn't it have been significantly easier to use both stones to gather the remaining ones?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Thanos didn't have the space gem, SHIELD did. Thanos gave Loki the mind gem so he could get the space gem. Still weird he gave one away.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah and to a guy who is known for deception. Why trust him? Why not have your 'daughters' go to Earth, steal said gem (the Tesseract) ->

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

and then leave? The entire premise is fairly flawed.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ehhh the thing is, to Thanos there are VERY few beings in the universe to even worry about, and in that regard loki isn't even a tiny blip

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

on his radar. If loki double crossed him, it is extremely likely he could hunt him down and slaughter him to get the scepter back.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Mobility allows for many things. He used a stone of less immediate value to attain one of greater, with the belief he can regain the first.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wel there are a few reasons. As free flare stated, giving Loki the mind stone to make it easier to bring him back the space stone was worth

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

it at the time...with the space stone he would become far more mobile in his search for he rest. Also, as is true in many comic issues, he

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

knew Loki had no clue what the scepter really was, so that lessened the chances of Loki trying to run off with it, plus without a full

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

understanding of the stone or its powers, if Thanos really needed to, he could track loki down and beat his ass to get it back. Without

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Isn't Adam warlock basically the soul gem in the comics? Seems like that might come up

8 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He’s bonded with the soul gem. He’s it’s primary wielder.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have so much speculation about how The Sovereign have been creating each other with the Soul Gem. I'm positive Adam will have it.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And since he is basically space Jesus, he will be the resolution for the story somehow

He most likely won't show up until the end.

I wish the new comics were more creative, they just keep rehashing and slightly altering old plot lines which becomes confusing when they

Use the same names or similar names for different things. I wish they’d just come up with new creative material.

MCU does its own thing though. I seriously doubt they'll introduce Adam Warlock in Infinity War 1 or the unnamed sequel.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

In the after credit scene in GotG 2, the Sovereign was creating Adam Warlock, presumably, with a glowing thing on the birthing pod.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Unfortunately for Warlock and Magus fans, James Gunn said that was more of an easter egg :/

Came here to say this!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

So did I. I was freaking the hell out when she started talking about her perfect creation. then she named him adam and I lost it

This was such a good and a clever ending.

how would thanos get the time stone from strange if strange is prepared? ............ (...)

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Thanos would require the aether stone or mind stone first.. After, it's child's play to get it from Strange. The mind stone method would be

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

1/2 obvious, mind control. The reality stone, aether, would allow Thanos to destroy strange without a thought

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

no he'd have to think about it

So Loki held two at one point. Boy should have been more focused

8 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

Not only that, Thanos had two of them at one point and just didn't realize it? Seems like he could have done a fuck ton of damage there...

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Wait what two did he have? The scepter and...

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Tesseract i think?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My mistake, he only had the scepter and I suppose didn't want to 'reveal' himself yet to snatch the tessarect like loki did

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

what's really weird though, is why did Thanos give him one to claim the other, if his goal was to collect them all?

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

I suspect it’s because it didn’t matter. Thanos is powerful enough to take down anyone in his way. That, or Loki jacked it.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Risk one to get two

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

THANK YOU! I get the idea of taking a calculated risk but wtf?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

yeah he's way too arrogant.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He seems to have a sub-goal of conquering/destroying the Earth. He thought that Loki wouldn't possibly fail with 2 and an army. HAHAHA!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He was just using Loki as a pawn. He would have just taken both from him once the task was done

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

oh yeah, but he sure had a lot of faith in Loki's ability.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Humans are weak. Heroes are not.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well to be fair, Loki probably could have pulled it off if it weren't for those meddling Avengers and their Hulk.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Remember Thanos is incredibly powerful and supremely arrogant. He needed Loki to get into Asgard and grab the gauntlet. The stones didn’t -

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

matter as much, as no matter who bore them, without a conduit, the stones would inevitably destroy their wielders. And since the gauntlet -

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

is the only thing that can fully unleash the power of the stones without damaging the user, it didn’t matter who held the stones.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

the gauntlet in Asgard is a fake

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

The gauntlet we saw in the Thor movies was a fake. The real one was still on Asgard just in a different place.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thanos had the gauntlet at the end of Age of Ultron though... and Asgard isn't really... there.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There was supposed to be a longer post credits scene in age of Ultron where Heimdall walked Thanos into the throne room on Asgard to meet-

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm glad that was cut. Heimdall wouldn't do that.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Loki disguised as Odin. Loki was supposed to then walk Thanos to the real vault and give him the gauntlet.
