11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ok so seriously how badass is it that modern medicine can return sight to an animal.

11 years ago | Likes 246 Dislikes 0

If you're curious, here's a clip of the process! http://youtu.be/nrIWac1FX2o I intern at a vet opthalmology clinic and we do this procedure!

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

We live in the best world that has ever been. We just need a reminder sometimes.

11 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

Yeah, like nuclear missiles and oil factories.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

eh, gotta take the really good with the really bad

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I love this comment!

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

My comment loves you back!

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Modern medicine can return sight to anyone if the blindness isn't caused by damage to the optic system.

11 years ago | Likes 45 Dislikes 1

geneticists are working on that, using skin cell derived stem cells to regrow it.. we're about to start trials for fixing spines with them

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

sadly science it preetty much one of the first things always to be cut back, when grants are awarded they barely take the scientists 1/?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

wages into account, i know many phd offers that will have you barely above min wage for 5 days a week when many people work 6-7 dys/week 2/?

Not gonna happen. If you really wanna do something about it you could try contacting some professors who do research in the field [1]

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I hope so. I'd really love to be able to see 3-D movies...and whatever is to the right of me. I think it'll happen though.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I can't tell if this is any different from how he would have reacted to seeing them while still blind.

11 years ago | Likes 268 Dislikes 4

Or, well. Not SEEING them, but you know what I mean.

11 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

And I was all ready to be that smartass.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

According to some other comment, the dog wasn't born blind, and these were the same owners as when he went blind.

11 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 0

Still, dogs identify others mostly through smell, eyesight has a much greater value for humans

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Check out the video he is crying through the whole thing.

11 years ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 0

It's normal to tear up after eye surgery

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Whimpering going my eyes hurt, so much light... help!!

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Much light. Such pain. Ow.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thank you :) I very much appreciate your internet hug :)

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Always blind though? People who've been blind all their life and given an ability to see actually don't know how to interpret what they (1)

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 5

see, for this dog to be like this leads me to believe he's either still very young, or could see at one point.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

Apparently the dog wasn't always blind. Either way, he would have recognised them by smell. They have an amazing sense of self.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Dogs have a really amazing sense of smell though. He most likely recognized the smell of his owners, and was happy to see them.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

gonna go hug the shit outta my sleeping dog right now :D

11 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Me too! Oh, wait... I don't have a dog :(

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I hope not literally! ;) Mine is staring at me so I will take her for a walk, so...I'm outta here!

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Someone is a fan of "my dog: the paradox"

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

only says, "Food! My favorite thing!" "Walks! My favorite thing!" etc. :)

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"watching tv with the people! My favorite thing!"

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"Going for a ride in the car! My favorite thing!" It reminds me of the joy I felt as a child...

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's a piece that I've always seen as "Dog v. Cat," and the cat part is written like he's a prisoner in a concentration camp, but the dog

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Oh yeahhh! You're right. My dog the paradox is "...love that guy"

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This made me smile and thinking about my pups bouncing around every time I come home from work. Thanks! (pups=boxer / bullmastiff) :)

11 years ago | Likes 78 Dislikes 2

I love boxers!! I'm planning on adopting one from a shelter in a few months :) Couldn't be more excited!

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Fabulous and THANKS! Our boxer Remy was a rescue 9 yrs ago and he's a great dog (10 y/o now!). Rescue all the doggies!! :))

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Aren't dogs great? Ours doesn't bounce but she grins at us, and just looks totally goofy.

11 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

They are! My two http://imgur.com/ds71IYD (Remy, white boxer 63lbs; Guinness, red brindled bullmastiff 127lbs)

SAUCE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Og1nMDl1K7g

11 years ago | Likes 62 Dislikes 3

Thanks for warning us to turn sound off. Those women need to have their squeelers removed while at the vet.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Cried and cried, happy tears. God bless them all. What a sweet, sweet face that pup has! Thank you so much for this!

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

ruined it for me

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

Great to watch! So the dog HAD seen before, then lost his sight, then gotten it back. I was trying to imagine seeing for the first time.

11 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

THAT. IS. SO. CUTE.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I should never have watched this.. If I were the dog, I'd be happy to be deaf. These voices ಠ_ಠ

11 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 10

GOOOOOOD BOY :DDDDDDDDDDD GEWWWD BOI D'AWWW UR SO GOOD CUTEEEEEIEEEE

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

AHhahahah exactly what i was thinking +1

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Thanks for the sauce, but the baby voices, oh god...

11 years ago | Likes 81 Dislikes 3

Was going to watch, your reply convinced me otherwise.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

It's actually adorable. The cutie pie is so happy :)

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Whenever I speak to my dog in a higher tone, he immediately gets excited and happy and basically dances in joy for me.

11 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

It may be annoying for us to hear but it's pretty instinctive for mammals to speak in higher pitch to babies. Dogs, like human babies, also

11 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

...wat mammal other than a human speaks?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Respond better to higher voices, and get more excited and pay more attention.

11 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

I know! I obviously do the same but there are about 5 people speaking like that at once in the video... drove me crazy.

11 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Thaaaat's how any dog greets its owners, blind or otherwise.

11 years ago | Likes 538 Dislikes 15

Especially if everybody's being overly excited in the first place... sigh.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thank you. I don't want to be a parade-rainer, but... yeah, that's how my dogs act if I've been out of the house for 20 minutes.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You're killin me smalls..

11 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 1

True, but no less cute.

11 years ago | Likes 56 Dislikes 0

Totally agree :)

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

OP posted sauce and you really need sound for the fool effect. Without sound, that's how any dog greets its owners, but with sound? D'aawwww

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If you look at the sauce I believe the dog is crying it's ass off

11 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Probably just crying from the excruciating pain it is because they ran out of anesthetic half way through the operation.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

+1 for only reply today that made me chuckle

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No, I'm not fun at parties and quite frankly I hate them.

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

You. I like.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I seriously doubt that he got "eye surgery" to unblind him, tbh. Still a cute dog though.

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 10

I intern at a veterinary ophthalmologist and I see cataract surgery done on dogs frequently! Here's a video: http://youtu.be/nrIWac1FX2o

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Some dogs are born "blind" with cataracts.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The can also develop them later in life, particularly if they have diabetes!

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The comments on the video say that he had cataracts and they caused him to lose his eyesight, but the cataracts were removed

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Here's a video of what the process is like http://youtu.be/nrIWac1FX2o I intern at a vet opthalmologist and he made this video!
