Tell these poor kids to avoid cheering for the Rockies. It'll just bum them out.

Good lord, that's beautiful.

One of these days, when nationalism is a thing of the past, human culture will be aweosme.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You aren't then talking about Bhutan.

Saw a Parts Unknown where Anthony was in Bhutan, it looks like a really cool little place. Link to the ep. for anyone interested. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YBNCdf3VsEU&ab_channel=TheDawn

I have met exactly one person from Bhutan in my life. We worked together as Chefs in NYC for about a year. Really cool dude, and I've always wanted to travel there some day after hearing him talk about it so much.

Looks like a scene from a video game.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Why would they choose the most boring game in North America?

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

I imagine it's more fun if you're playing it.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Yeah, watching and playing are very different.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Man, I thought busting a window was as bad as it got with baseball as a kid. Busting a Buddha has to be a whole other level...

In my Trek headcanon, Baseball becomes increasingly popular on Bajor in honor of the Emissary of the Prophets, Ben Sisko, and his affection for the game, to the point that a formalized league forms.

2 years ago | Likes 244 Dislikes 0

Didn’t Odo like it because it had a lot of rules? Didn’t he like rules? I can see that.

It becomes an important religous practice, comemorating The Emisary's first contact with The Prophets.

Once per season, the top team from each planet compete in a 7 game Galactic Series, to prove who is the truly superior race.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

It will called the Galactic Series, despite 90% of teams being from the Federation.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It is now known as GALACTIK BASEBALL! Intro kicks in..

Over the decades, the players bond over a mutual love for the game, bringing their peoples together in a spirit of friendly competition.

In the end, baseball does what war and politics never could: end the cycle of racism and violence between the two worlds.

Universal. Just have to hit select for 5 seconds and enter the code for your device.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

i guess they mean inaccessable

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

english speaking western civilisation of course. the people that live in the bordering countries are too brown to count

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

You’re getting downvoted, but I think this is exactly the attitude that the use of “remote” implies.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Travel was banned up until recently, and they don’t allow any outside influence, except baseball

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Remoteness is a function of distance, not level of restriction. East Germany was not remote to West Germany.

They got their first television station in 1999. That's what they mean by remote. Socially reclusive.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

And that tv didn’t even come with a remote

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Distance can be measured in terms other than the physical space.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

According to which dictionary? https://www.dictionary.com/browse/remote

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I', talking about 'distance', here, not 'remote'. But the answer is still Merriam-Webster: iam-webster.com/dictionary/distance">https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/distance - But even your link, the dictionary.com definition of remote, includes "secluded" as part of its definition.

Not a native speaker, but "Florida, the most remote state in USA" doesn't quite sound right

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Of course, Hawai'i would be the most remote state, anyway. But even in the contiguous 48, I feel Maine might be farther from the geographical center (a point in Kansas near its border with Nebraska) than Florida.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also, if you aren't allowed in, it is basically more remote than Antarctica.
