New Feature on Imgur: Content Controls

What's that approaching from the distance? A bird? A meme? No, it's a brand new feature, fresh out of the iOS app oven: Content Controls.

Content Controls will allow you to see fewer posts from certain topics or tags while you browse Imgur. Access Content Controls by tapping the sort menu on the app's home screen -- those are the two up and down arrows in the top left corner.

To start, we're offering four topics that we've been hearing from Imgurians might make folks feel worse or feel excluded when they're browsing Imgur. These topics use a light dressing of special sauce to reduce (not eliminate) the number of posts you'll see about the selected topic as you browse through Most Viral and User Submitted. Or, add a more specific tag to block, and all posts tagged with that exact tag will be hidden for you.

So, if you'd like to see fewer posts about politics, you can do that by selecting the relevant topic. Alternatively, if you’d like to stop seeing posts tagged with 'cats' (you monster), you can add the 'cats' tag to your blocked tags. Deselect topics or remove blocked tags at any time. Or, ignore this feature entirely and carry on as you were.

Once you leave this menu, your choices will automatically be applied going forward.
