So everything was going fine when all of a sudden bam! horrendous pain. I tried to ignore it for about hour but it was so bad I had to go to the ER and now I’ve been told I’m being prepped for emergency surgery! Honestly I’m scared, nervous and in pain. I don’t have many friends to reach out to and was hoping people could send something funny or recommend some fun things to watch while I recover?

Sorry for the selfie and stay safe out there people!

Wishing you a speedy recovery from Ireland...

I like Monty Python Search for the Holy Grail. Once in the hospital the volume was out, but I watched & laughed because I knew the lines.

At least your hair is pretty. I enjoyed the Flavia deLuce novels by Alan Bradley. Serious sleuthing coupled with the occasional belly laugh

It was confirmed appendix in a different comment thread.

@op Confirmed appendix in a different comment; thought I'd put the mystery to bed!

6 years ago | Likes 254 Dislikes 0

At least buy it dinner first, jeezz

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hope it’s not in the US bc apparently it’s $33,000

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Op I went through the same, it was a breeze. You got this

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Or put the new penis to bed, one of the two

6 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

I mean, it's not the most unlikely scenario.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

My vote is appendix.

6 years ago | Likes 63 Dislikes 0

Timing seems pretty quick for appendix. Maybe cyst accident? Well find out after the op I guess

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Appendixes can rupture with little or no warning. Mine did.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I know. But it's very rare for appendix to go from asymptomatic to exquisite pain all of a sudden. Normal appendixes don't just burst. - doc

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Haha, sorry for trying to correct you then Doc! /Salute

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

@op Confirmed appendix in a different comment; thought I'd put the mystery to bed!

6 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

mine was on captured condom with coke in it

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I had the kidney stones. I wished for death.

6 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

My refrain when they start is "All pain is transient".

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Iv had kidney stones twice. The pain is so bad that I've been told it's worse then child birth and I believe it. I'll find out at some point

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I had a kidney stone the other day, I would rather have another baby, at least then I got an epidural lol. (Baby is 5 months old)

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So did my coworker. He said he'd rather have covid

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Same as long as I’m guaranteed not to die, covid all the way.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm trying to pass a kidney stone as we speak. I'm on Percocet all weekend and having surgery Monday if it doesn't pass by then.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm assuming appendix is the medical term for gender reassignment.

6 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 1

Of course. Because "Append" means "to add" and dix....well, you know....

*Upend dicks

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

You'll be ok! I had mine out when I was 9. Speedy recovery! The ice cream was the best part.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yep, happened to me several years ago. Went in for lapr....hell. told me small scar to see, woke with cut belly button down ?

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

The worst part is literally the drive home, speed bumps will make you a bit sore. Then it's all smooth slightly uncomfortable sailing.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Status check....

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I went through that too.. Youll be ok and life will be back to normal soon! Exciting story to share too

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Don’t run a marathon after. In and out. Had mine out 23 years ago and was in ICU for a week and half after. My how the times have changed.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm no doctor, but i don't think you need your appendix touched during a gendr reassignment surgery.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Mine ruptured when I was 10 and almost killed me. Hang in there!

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My appendix is the reason I have my username, very long story, but getting it out was an absolute breeze

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

If my friend didn’t get hers out a few days ago I’d assume you were her.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Space cadet time is best time. Ugh i remember my appendix removal. So good not to feel that pain anymore!

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You're going to do great!!

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Stupid traitor organ! Mine did it to me last year! Good luck!

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I had my gallbladder out two months ago; recovery is not gonna be great but it WILL get better! Be gentle with yourself.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They can turn an appendix into a penis now.

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

*Hugs his appendix and hides in a corner*

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I had an appendicitis years ago. Spent like 18 hours in pain and way too much walking before going to the ER.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Space Cadet? Are you a fruits basket fan?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

@op welcome to the club! Mine tried to kill me when I was 7. Little bastard.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

When I got mine taken out I was sore for a few days but it hurt for weeks after everytime I would laughed.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

See you, Space Cowboy.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If you're unfortunate enough to be American, please tell us you have insurance...

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

i'm glad you've decided to donate your organs, seems a bit odd while you're still using them, but i'm not gonna argue.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Mine was taken when I was 11, so I hope you have an awesome recovery!!

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

From what I heard, appendicitis hits with extreme pain and you pretty much have to go to surgery asap.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sucks but get well soon

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The pain from mine came and went for days. Thought it was just gas. Finally hurt so bad I couldnt take it. Rolled up to the ER just in time.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Depends. Sometimes slower onset and milder cases can sometimes be treated with antibiotics.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That is good to hear. Everytime I feel sudden pain in the area around my appendix, I fear the worst. But then the pain subsides in minutes

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Piece of cake, the worst part is the soreness in the tiny openings and a little muscle soreness.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, appendicitis sucks. Hopefully you were fast enough and have a quick recovery! Morphine is a hell of a drug lol!

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Unusual for it to come on so suddenly like that. At least it's easily treated.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've been there, most pain I've ever been in. I was in grade six.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I knew a guy who ignored an intense pain for days, passed out, woke up being told his appendix burst & went gangrenous.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Good luck! Lost mine when I was 16. Had an old school doctor that cut me open wide. You'll do much better in today's medical care!

6 years ago | Likes 40 Dislikes 0

You had your surgery at school? Rough

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Lol at the other comments, old school is a perfectly acceptable term right

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

What the fuck? I am so glad school doctors aren't a thing here.

6 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ugh, had mine out in 2009. Pain hit me out of nowhere. Was told I probably had the infection for days before the pain hit.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I had mine out at 6, then broke all three bones in my left arm three weeks later, so I feel ya! Get better!

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I know the feeling! This happened to me back in December. Fucking blows

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I had neck surgery a while back. My spine took a hit, cord was swelling in the spine, pressing against it, could have stopped my breathing

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

At any time. So they carved a pie wedge out of three vertebrae to let it breathe, and screwed them together because they didn't stack right

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

anymore. I couldn't walk right, had numb hands and feet. Slowly my coordination and sensation came back, and life went on. My point is

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That, as scary and disruptive and stressful as this seems right now, you'll cross it and reach the other side.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I went into the ER and walked out the door within 12 hours. Laproscopic appendectomy. Just a little sore for a few weeks. You got this!

6 years ago | Likes 189 Dislikes 1

Same, my appendix had it’s fun while driving home on the fwy. Went to closest McDonalds and called 911. That was fun.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Probs depends if it was scheduled or it burst first. My brothers burst, and he was a few days in hospital. But that was like, 20 yrs ago

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Same! You'll do just fine

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I had pain in that area, turns out it was an omentum infarction, left hospital the day after surgery, walked out. Laproscopy is the balls!

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Brother had this at 16. I came back from swim lessons and he was on his way to ER. Didn’t see my parents that night, bro was a-ok tho!

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Same, but I developed an ileus due to the anesthetics. Right back to the hospital and was on IV nutrition for 2 weeks.

6 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 0

Oh no! So painful. How tired were you of nurses asking if you passed gas? Hope you're all good now.

6 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Oh yeah, this was 9 years ago. And my aunt was a nurse at the hospital, so I was asked extra often. Lol.

6 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

I was in the hospital for 2 weeks after my appendectomy.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Maybe not the time

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

A couple years ago on Christmas something wasn't feeling right, I suspected appendicitis. Drove myself to the ER and they confirmed. 1/

6 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Had the surgery and was back at my parents house that same night. Next day drove up to the mountains because we had a cabin booked. 2/

6 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Had to take it a little easy but was still able to go on walks and light hikes. Recovery isn't too bad, you've got this!! :)

6 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Didn’t feel right how?

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

On Christmas Eve I was having sharp pain lower right abdomen, I was really hoping it was just from bad food from the party earlier. 1/

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It was still there and still same quality in the morning. Then I checked McBurney's point (Google) and it was definitely positive so 2/

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I would also like to know how u knew it wasn't right. Just in case it happens to me in the future @__@

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Hey! Wanted to let you know I just answered this on the other user's post so you don't miss out
