You know that "egg smell" is a result of stressed out chickens in cages? You don't get it from free range/backyard eggs.

In some parts of the world (and many more during the 80s) eggs are associated with egg farts, and a horrible sulphur smell.
Also you can bet they're getting free range, cage chicken egg shells are too thin and brittle to work with.
