1. Joji

Genre: Chill hop
First off, yes this is the guy who acts filthy frank, he makes some amazing chill hop and has some pretty sweet vocals. He writes about romantic garbage and all that good stuff, after listening to his emotion-infused voice on top of his mellow chill beats, you'll be sad you're single. His beats awaken all the emotions in you a Nujabes or J dilla beat would and more, it's so familiar but still completely unique.

2. Noname

Genre: Hip Hop

Noname is a rapper that'll just make you so happy in such a natural way, you may notice her if you listen to chance the rapper, but she is her own artist. Her songs just have this amazingly positive vibe, in a way which isn't forcing happy thoughts down your throat. She raps on top of chill jazzy beats, usually featuring sung choruses. Her lyrics are amazing, especially for me, this is probably because a lot of her lyrics are filled with working class nostalgia.

Recommended song: https://soundcloud.com/noname/03-diddy-bop-ft-raury-cam-obi

3. Young Franco

Genre: Electronic Dance, House

Young Franco produces some funky ass electronic music. Whenever one of his songs comes on in one of my playlists I can't help but just vibe out as if I'm some sort of festival hippie. His music is just so bouncy and summery.

Recommended song: https://soundcloud.com/yfrnco/drop-your-love-ft-dirty-radio-2

4. Hippo Campus

Genre: Indie Rock/Pop, Alt Rock, Pop Rock

Hippo Campus is a gem of a band. On the surface, it just looks like another generic hipster band, but honestly, they just have such a homely feel to them. Their songs feel very authentic and "comfy", you can tell they make music because they love to. If you want a weird but good synthesis of happy, sad, nostalgic, energetic and lazy vibes, then these are your boys.

Recommended song: https://soundcloud.com/hippo-campus/south-1

5. SZA

Genre: Alt RnB, Neo Soul

SZA's sound is just something unearthly. Her voice and her lyrics just feel so unraveling, her music has themes of abandonment, sexuality and nostalgia. She is a part of TDE, the hip hop collective and record label of Kendrick Lamar and ScHoolboy Q and other hip hop greats, she is the first female AND singer there, so that says something.

Recommended song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g99qysQgo58

6. Hiatus Kaiyote

Genre: Neo-Soul, Indie

These guys are just something so unique, the lead singer's soulful voice plus the bands flying lotus esque production just makes for straight up good soul. This music forces me to do some weird contemporary dance like a complete idiot around my house, and that's a good thing.

Recommended Song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ozr4KsZBTvQ

7. DΞΔN TRBL (DEAN)

Genre: RnB

This guy could be the new prince of RnB. His voice, simply put is just... "hhhnnnnnngggg", and I don't even know what he's saying half the time because most of his songs are in Korean. His music at times sounds like the opening of a Filipino soap-opera... but actually good.

Recommended Song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LKiauCIJhv0

8. Isaiah Rashad

Genre: Hip Hop / Rap

Another artist from Top Dawg Entertainment on this list. Isaiah makes some of the realest hip hop out there. Not to insult him, but try to think of his sound as Kendrick but more southern, that being said, he isn't just a poor man's Kendrick. His sound just feels so authentic and "vibe-able". Listen out for his lyrics. they're pretty clever.

Recommended Song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJksTRgY8-c

9. Neon Bunny

Genre: Experimental Electronic, Trance, Indie

Neon Bunny's sound is something so soothing and warm, but still somehow depressingly romantic. Her stuff puts me in a trance (not in a creepy demonic possession kind of way).

Recommended Song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-KbvUmR6zkg

10. Mura Masa

Genre: Dance Music

A lot of people have heard this guy's songs, and just don't do further research. He's got some songs out their with millions of views and some with barely any. His sound has such a wide range, but still keeps all within the dance spectrum. Mura Masa's sound is (in my experience) universally likeable, but maybe that's just because I only know young people, click the link and find out for youself.

Hop you get some good listening out of these artists!

I hope you enjoyed my list of music, complete with photos of depressed millennials. I also hope this music makes you want to twerk like Tina.

I've heard this name before and I can't for the life of me remember where or if it had anything to do with music... hum

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's a part of the brain thought to be the centre of emotion, memory, and the autonomic nervous system.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hahaha! Yes. TY.

"We want real music, we want Joji music"

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

My heart fluttered when I saw Joji's face on the front page. It's just the first time I've seen Papa Frank hit the front page.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

How about Eden?

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Was narrowing this list down to 10 to see if imgur still like these lists. Wake Up is such a good song.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

His new EP "i think you think too much of me" is amazing.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Eden is pretty good. Pretty sad he's not on here.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Anderson .Paak

9 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Come Down is amazing

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Holy shit dude, I could talk about him for HOURS

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Malibu was a fucking amazing album. But I didn't put him in this list because he's been healthily growing, this is like a lowkey promotion.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Fair fair. He's really started to boom recently.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

check out "Worlds to Run" by Busdriver, Milo, and him

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Is Young Franco related to James Franco? Or is it just a coincidence that he looks related and also called Franco?

9 years ago | Likes 98 Dislikes 1

Could be. Joji's name is George Miller, and he's Ezra Miller's cousin.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He's from Australia so the chances are slim.

9 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

He's their great grandfather

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nah but his music is fun

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Nah but he's Dave Franco's little brother.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I wondered the same thing! They really do look a lot alike. Maybe he's named that because they look similar also

9 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

What? It's his last name you can't change that.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

But you can change your last name if you do enough paperwork and prob pay a fee

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I was thinking maybe he chose the dj name young Franco because a lot of people told him he looked like James Franco.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Perhaps.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Except younger.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I recommend Joji - Medicine for listening. I personally prefer it to the one linked here.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He literally wrote it in the caption. Come on man.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I too noticed Senpai.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

He's almost half the characters on his channel.

9 years ago | Likes 168 Dislikes 0

I'm just suprised that he makes actual music. I only thought he did the pink guy stuff.

9 years ago | Likes 93 Dislikes 7

Pink guy is some good shit. But you can find a lot of stuff on youtube from his earlier days.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

The Filthy Frank stuff was just done on a dare, iirc. And it's kinda stunted his serious music. :/

9 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

He might enjoy filming it, why else would he continue the dare this long?

9 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

I'm not saying he doesn't enjoy it. Just that that's how it supposedly started it.

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Yes, actual music such as "peanut butter on my balls let the dog lick it" or maybe you meant "kill yourself"

9 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Good shit. Pink guy is coming out with a new album soon too

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Really, will it have trap dumplings?

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Are you implying that isn't actual music?

9 years ago | Likes 147 Dislikes 0

"WE WANT REAL MUSIC, WE WANT JOJI MUSIC" "bro, I didn't even know that real and fake music existed"

9 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

Touché, let me rephrase: I'm surprised he makes a more serious genre of music.

9 years ago | Likes 63 Dislikes 1

Are you implying his other work isn't serious?
