Edit: i found the comments on facebook crazy, but funny, i meant no disrespect to muslims or sikhs. Actually; they make up more than 100% my friends.

Update: Wow, one of my first pictures not to die horribly with a negative rating. I wont ask for money, but i humbly ask for pictures of badgers with hats. My current collection is now: 2 badgers.
Including, but not limited to this: https://www.flickr.com/photos/curiousexpeditions/8077645299

They're the cool guys who will destroy any dipshits on that flight!

Any religion that feeds its visitors a sit down elbow to elbow fresh cooked meal gets my spoon of approval.

Also realised this Air India flight only has vegetarian meal options.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In my limited experiance Sikhs are like...the most selfless and kind people.

2 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 2

I've worked with them in QA. You *can't* get them angry. Every team needs a Sikh to keep a level head.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

7/11 people and not 9/11 people. That's funny AND horrible.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

9/11 was fine imo. Lots of bankers died. Only a few thousands, while during corona over 1m died and the government did nothing. 9/11 was nothing more than the means to wage war against a country which nothing has to do with it. Follow the money

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

sikhs are some of the most beautiful people you want to meet, they feed the poor and the ones in distress but god help you if they are in uniform and coming towards you

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Sikh selfie!

Wondering how they are "MORE THAN 100%" of his friends? Is this the new math I've heard about?

7/11 was a part time job

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

hahaha

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not THAT Justin Jones...?

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I can't count how many people have used a 7-11 joke as a way to insult me.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Little did she know he would feed her before he would hurt her...the Sikh are mostly wonderful people who would help anybody

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sikhs are awesome people, go find your local sikh temple and have lunch with them.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's technically an inside job too.

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Sikhs tend to work at 7/11? Guess it is an American thing?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

also tend to own them

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Nicest, most helpful people you'll ever meet

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Looks like Karen is uncomfortable

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Ive never known a Sikh that works at 7/11, but I do know a ton a Sikh truck drivers. It’s a job that allows them to wear their Pagri (as I’ve learned), or turban. This is a requirement to wear, so when seeking a job, the dress code should allow it, but it should be allowed at all jobs, in my opinion. Truck driving also allows them to have diverse dining options, which helps since so many Sikh are vegetarian. Nicest people in the world. Hard workers.

2 years ago | Likes 89 Dislikes 2

Do they make a hard hat version of that?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Same. I'm working in the transport industry. So many Sikh truck drivers.

2 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

I was beyond upset when some idiot shot up the local temple https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wisconsin_Sikh_temple_shooting I recall that the dumbfuck thought they were Muslims, which is obviously no excuse. First responding cop took 15 gunshot wounds, but lived.

2 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

I actually have been learning about sikhi from the son of one of the victims. He wrote a book called "The Gift of our Wounds" with a reformed white supremacist tyrned anti-violen e activist. Definitely worth the read

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

They've got a pretty badass symbol too. Tell me they don't fight Decepticons.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I would have thought somekind of branch of COBRA, but that works too

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Honestly, the history is amazing. I’d recommend checking it out. They always are supposed to have a blade or dagger (even if it’s or ornamental.) “The kirpan is a dagger which symbolises a Sikh's duty to come to the defense of those in peril.” What!? How badass is that?

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The few Sikhs that I have met in my live have been very cool and friendly.

The Air India Flight 182 people.

Yep.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I was stunned when I learned that it was a Sikh bombing but it's a great lesson that all religions are subject to extremism.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Every year near Vancouver, Canada they hold a parade to celebrate the perpetrators of this terrorist act.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have been to a Sikh temple in New Dehli that feeds almost 40.000 people of all faiths and backgrounds every day for free and on religious holidays it can get as high as 100.000, it's called Gurudwara Bangla Sahib. All Gurudwara (holy place) feed people for free, it's always lacto-vegetarian and people eat in long rows sitting on the floor, pauper next to prince.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

i was taught about sikh in school, its a cool religion but fuck with one of them and they have a legal knife for religious self defense. im 100% sure its not really just for that but fuck around and find out.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Kinda racist. My doctor is Sikh.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Yeah, it's fairly offensive to both Sikhs and Muslims.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

The Sikh religion is an interesting one. I once was invited to a service (a reading from their Book) and their usual feast afterwards.

2 years ago | Likes 72 Dislikes 1

THOSE BASTARDS

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Don't know much about them but I have never heard anything negative about Sikhs

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

You can walk into any Sikh temple and they’ll give you a meal for free if you ask them. Take off your shoes, cover your head, and wash your hands. You don’t have to be a Sikh to get a meal.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yup, anyone of any faith is welcome, and we all eat sitting on the floor as equals

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Sikh's are badasses and the nicest of people.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

what did ya eat?

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I ate excellent vegetarian fare. Indian based. Always try the food offered. It is home made and delish.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

hellll yea

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I am actually a recent convert and will say that it is a very fulfilling way of looking at life and the universe without having to believe in an Abrahamic style "Mr. God" type figure. Essentially in sikhi we believe that the whole universe is the form of the divine, and that the divine is within and part of all things and people equall, and therfore all people are essentially equal, which is why sikhi is explicitly anti-racist, anti-sexist. The biggest free kitchen in the world is a Sikh temple

2 years ago | Likes 93 Dislikes 1

I went to an event too. If anyone has played StarCraft, the religion seems like Christianity with the Protoss Khala added in

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Another way I have heard a Sikh teacher describe it is like Force worship in the star wars universe, but with a healthier relationship with attachment and love

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

True!

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That’s a very cool synopsis

2 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

Lol thank you. I am still very new to it and don't speak Punjabi (the language of the original Sikh scriptures) so you can definitely learn more from people who know more than me

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I absolutely love that you’re embedding yourself in such a lovely and positive way of life

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

My Dad's a convert also and he is the most compassionate person I've ever met until I go to Satsang. Kindness, kindness, kindness.

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Hey, I don't have any specific questions but I just wanna say thank you for sharing so much information about your faith. I've been reading your replies to other people. Learned a lot. Thank you, again.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Any time! I am still totally a newbie so if you are at all interested in learning more definitely check out people who know more than me. "Nanak Naam" channel on YouTube is a great resource for English speakers

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Can you explain the meaning/importance/reasoning for the associated garb/head-wrap(sorry, I don’t know the name of this)?

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I can do my best! Initiated sikhs wear the "5 K's" which are articles of faith, all of which start with k in Punjabi. They are uncut hair (usually covered witha turban), a comb to keep it neat, a circular bracelet to represent the infinite nature of the divine, a dagger or sword to use to defend the innocent/ fight tyrants, and loose boxer shorts to represent restraint. I am not an amritari myself but I have stopped cutting my hair and wear the bracelet

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Satanism is pretty similar in a way. Not so much free food though.

Don’t they have cookies?

That's the dark side.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Are we saying that Satanists and The Dark Side don’t share baked goods? So out of character.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

From the very little I know of it, it’s definitely near the top of the list for religions/philosophies for me. Genuinely kind and selfless people

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

If you ever feel like learning more check out this video! https://youtu.be/L-1UAORcX4c it is the video that initially made me want to look into Sikhi. Also good if you just want to understand a world culture, the channel is full of good educational content

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I’m always open to learning more about other cultures. Thank you. I had a few Sikh friends in school (and a bit of google, but that’s not always the best source xD)

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Sounds pretty chill. Given that trans awareness and rights are being a more forefront topic in recent years, is there any thoughts or guidance in sikhi? Hopefully not a loaded question, just very curious.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

There isn't anything specifically mentioned in the scriptures that I am aware of, but in general the mentality is that all are equal in having the spark of the divine, and therefore people should be free to express their truest selves. I am sure there are transphonic sikhs that exist, but I have never met one and none of the teachers I listen to have been anything but loving and accepting of the idea of people transitioning to be their truest selves. I think Nanak would have welcomed Trans folks

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

In a time of such divisiveness globally, it's nice to hear such a pleasant, thoughtful, and open way of thinking. Thanks for giving me a lil spark of hope for the world.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

No problem! I am absolutely a newbie to Sikhi though so if you ever feel like learning more check out people with more experience than me. The "Nanak Naam" channel on YouTube is an excellent resource for English speakers

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Anti-racist, anti-sexist, but are they anti-homophobic? If so I might find myself a faith after all...

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

And every teacher of sikhi that I have been learning from says that you should accept all people as they are and love them, which seems to be the overall feelings of the community. Certainly I hate homophobia and transphobia and don't feel any conflict with my new faith and those feelings

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

There are messed up people in every religion but nothing explicitly ant-lgbt in the scripture, and every sikh I have known is open and loving. Punjabi culture specifically can be kinda conservative, but the religion teaches love for all and I interpret that as love is love.

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Thank you for your response, I bears further investigation on my part at some point 😊

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

This is the video that originally got me interested. Admittedly I decided to pursue that interest seriously more recently as a coping mechanism for dealing with some major tragedies I was connected to

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

More like fear of being photographed by a rando in public and having that pic disseminated on social media with the implication that you're racist, or super meme-able and/or currently doing something exceptionally dumb, or bloody ugly. P.S.: STOP taking PICTURES of other people in public, please!

2 years ago | Likes 394 Dislikes 110

Yep, thats what that looks like. It looks like two people who believe that guy is taking an unsolicited pic of them and they are super annoyed about it.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 4

This is nonsensical

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

If you don't want your picture taken don't go in public view. That's why it's called public. You want freedom but only if it doesn't inconvenience you. I have a front and rear dash cam do you have any idea how many pictures I take of people in a 30 min drive in the city?

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 8

I am often photographed when I wander too far from my neighborhood, it's just what happens when you are too tall and excessively tattooed. There's no need to get all weird about it. Sometimes people just want proof they saw a real life Amazon.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 4

It's the PUBLIC. The entire idea of the public is that it doesn't just belong to you, but is something we all have access to and can chose to participate in. I'm with you on making laws for photos that constitute sexual assault. But the idea of not taking pictures of people in public is just asinine and selfish.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

Just don't be a racist yt person.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 12

Oh no, their awfully racist actions had some consequences... boo hoo.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 6

??? Did you not read the article? That's the arm of a Latino dude who fiddled with his fingers and got fired from his job for it because some butthole posted this picture on the internet.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

They shouldn't have been racist and lied about it. What's next, Kyle Rittenhouse the murderer being misinterpreted?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 8

This is like how you can pull a frame from practically any person waving to a crowd from an elevated platform where it looks like they're doing a fascist salute.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

As annoying as it is being susceptible to being photographed in public, it is not against the law to be photographed. You can literally take pictures of people on the street walking or of police buildings, if you're on public land.

2 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 7

It's not really about legality, it's about what's proper. Is it illegal to leave the shopping cart standing around the parking lot? Anyhoo: Does a plane count as "public"?

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 11

You are acting like public opinion doesn't sway law. Abortion got that treatment for too long. "Well it's not illegal, but you shouldn't" turned it to "let those whores get what they deserve" real quick. Nah, fuck that. Deal with being in public or just don't. You don't have the right to make others conform to your preferences.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 6

Yeah, but no. A) different countries have different social rules, different laws and different standards of expectation. B) what you will do is create a culture that makes art of this type completely illegal. C) you will have no right to taking pictures of criminals because your suggestion changes the social standards over time and laws will make it more illegal to capture evidence of a crime that the actual crime itself. Laws are written usually off the back of social standards.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

An oddly empathetic viewpoint. I appreciate this

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Men being pests in public & posting pics of women online, either to publicly mock or to share in shady creepshot communities for other degenerates to wank to, has taught us to be wary of any man with his phone pointed at us. Then men also mock & get off to our fear that THEY created.

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 7

I fully support the need for safety for women from this type of abusive and violent behaviour which violates consent. That there are bad actors will be constant. Finding meaningful ways to be intolerant of and supress bad actors is one of the key accountabilities of good government.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He's taking a pic of the other sikh though.

2 years ago | Likes 47 Dislikes 2

no one tell them about the cameras everywhere they probably shop/drive/work/exist.

2 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 5

Wouldnt her behaviour have led to the pic? I cant think of any reason they would take this photo without her exhibiting the "fear" beforehand. Unless of course these 2 are buds that just couldnt get seats together, in which case she was never intended to be the focus of the photograph and she just happened to be caught being racist?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

I have been on one domestic UK flight in my entire life (not from the Uk)... Guess who got picked for a random screening on that flight... Hint: it wasn't my nordic visage

2 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

No. Never. The second we make it a bad idea to take a picture of someone else in public is the first step to making public photography/videography illegal.

2 years ago | Likes 94 Dislikes 32

Where did I imply that it should be illegal? I believe I meant "Don't do it because when you do it, you're an asshole who can literally ruin a person life with a candid shot"... but some people find entertainment more important than other people, apparently.

2 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 11

This is the same energy as someone arguing their light machine gun should remain legal because of the second amendment.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Sounds like you'd be cool with someone taking pics of you at anytime and place, you know just for the lolz

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Only men then. Bc y'all use it against women constantly, from taking upskirts to creepin to doxxing some "Karen" you think inconvenienced your narcissistic asses.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 16

Women do the same thing all the time...turns out shitty people exist in every flavor.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

That is a privacy violation. That's not taking a photo in public. Your example is substantively and demonstrably a false equivalency.

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 2

LOL You rammed in your agenda into the wrong conversation.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Takong unsolicited pictures of people and posting them online is a bad idea. That doesn't make it illegal. It just makes them assholes. Just like frauditors.

2 years ago | Likes 62 Dislikes 6

Some places it is illegal to post it on social media. Just saying

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Why you gotta do alligators dirty like that? Just because they aren't crocodiles doesn't make them frauds. At least they will see you later instead of in a while.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

(unless they're cops, in which case, please remember to film horizontally.)

2 years ago | Likes 224 Dislikes 14

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The difference between Private Citizen and d Public Servant

2 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

How dumb is it that you can't film a vertical video by holding your phone horizontally? Technically there wouldn't even be a challenge to make a phone that could do it. So why isn't it a standard or something you can choose.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I understand why you want that, but no. Film vertically people. You'll have a much better grip on your phone if you start getting hassled and need to move while trying to keep it pointed at them.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You're illustrating EXACTLY why making it a "bad thing" to take a picture in public is a horrible, HORRIBLE idea. If you're going out in public, expect public discourse, with all of the bad and all the the good that comes with it. You can't filter out one without destroying the other.

2 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 8

Their is a HUGE difference between a private citizen going about their day getting photographed and put online vs a public servant like a cop. Also, I don't think op was saying taking photos in public be illegal, but that common decent human courtesy suggests that posting pictures of private citizens without their consent is not cool.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Have we entirely lost sense of the fact that acting in opposite ways towards two different groups of people is a valid possibility? Very simple, too: When you see a normal dude dangling his hand out of the window of his car and fiddling with his fingers, don't take a pic of that and definitely don't put the pic online because it might get him fired from his job. When you see a cop "routine stopping" a black kid in a hoodie, record that shit. You can absolutely filter one and not the other.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Why are Muricans so absolutely dense and terrible at discerning what's improper? If I were the turban-wearing dude and I saw that pic I'd taken, with the face of that strange female clearly and identifiably in it, obviously inviting people to misconstrue this candid shot... I would NEVER have put this online. As a grown-up who doesn't live under a rock, I KNOW that this can get this woman doxxed and worse. FFS.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Your insistence on this makes me think you're one of the vile creepers who takes shots of women in public to mock or wank with friends. Go away.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 11

Yo wanking with friends is just bonding time, don't judge me

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's already illegal...

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Here's a little information for you from someone who doesn't like being photographed. If you don't like it then you hide your face or look away. You don't look in fear at the person taking the picture while leaving yourself completely visible. Plus this picture was about the guy in back, NOT the woman to the side. She just happened to be in the way.

2 years ago | Likes 59 Dislikes 35

Lol I didn't even see the woman.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

That's a nice opinion of yours. I'm sure it applies to the other 6+ billion other people in this world.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Here's a little information on humans: When we see something out of the corner of our eye and then look over, we might end up making that face in the split second in which we fully realise what we're looking at. She's not looking at the person, she's looking at the camera lens held high and aimed in her direction. Also: I highly doubt he told her that it was actually all about the guy in the back. Also also: If it were, wouldn't he have blurred or cropped her out?

2 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 19

Instead, her face is now the "Karen who's worried about turban-wearer on the plane"-face. Which is precisely what I was saying. One dumb photo of you, misconstrued, on social media: Congratulations, you are now possibly unemployed, unemployable, or generally infamous in a way that you were never prepared to be. Like the dude dangling his arm out of his work truck window, allegedly doing the "white power" sign when actually just...doing nothing.

2 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 16

Lmao what? The look on her face could just as easily be a bland look of curiosity like she just glanced over. There is absolutely no way this would blow back on her. You're being a bit oversensitive

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 6

My friend, have a look at the other person who replied to my comment. They alleged that the woman is "looking at him like he's about to steal her purse". So yeah, it's already blowing back on her. *I* am the one who's insisting that this shot and her facial expression/body language could have dozens of reasons. So I agree with you, but reality doesn't.

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 4

It's not just about her face, she is leaning over away from him like she thinks he's going to steal her purse

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 31

Oh boy, such imagination. If she's leaning at all (interpretation, not actually visible from the angle of the photo), she's leaning to try and get out of the frame of the photo she just realised is being taken. She's *not* looking at the dude. She's looking at the camera and reacting to it like any person who doesn't want to be photographed without warning does.

2 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 8

It actually is visible, you can see her shoulder right there where her hair is and that's her hand held up by her face. She's turning partially towards the guy beside her and leaning towards him in the classic "I'm scared" position.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 18

She's leaning to get out of the camera's view bc she doesn't know why tf some man is holding his phone up in her direction, ffs

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

If she was leaning to get out of the view she'd turn her head the other way...
