There has been a shortage of qualified medical practitioners in Australia, so an Indian doctor came to the country to help

Lived in Australia in the early 90's. Loved it, but the racism towards asian/indian people was quite overt. Hope it's changed...

This was so savage

I love your uncle, it just shows patience can have such a bigger payoff than a punch!

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

Hell Yeah

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And the Indian community is shutting others out that are also looking for new opportunities. They only help each other

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 9

Fuck racism. Hard.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I lived in Australia my whole life. There was never a massive doctor shortage in the 90s. And yes, every country has racism.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fuck yeah, I quite enjoyed that story, I dont get racists, all whites immigrated here the same as everyone else, so always seemed silly too

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

We are a melting pot here in the main cities, but as you go out country you find more ignorance and fear of people who look different.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I can vouch for the overpriced tests for the doctors, its carried out by the AMC in Melbourne, La trobe st. 7 grand per test, 30-50% fail

8 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 3

Aussie education at every level is pretty awful, designed solely so its near impossible to change.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

Nice story but I'll call it fake - we have a shortage of RURAL doctors but no shortage of CITY doctors.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Seems like his plan was to John D. Rockefeller them and he epically succeeded.

I love this because in the background they are telling the woman her husband died. If I remember correctly.

I can imagine conversation with subcontractor “it will be cheaper if thebathroom is near the current services..” “put in it the office!”Haha

Thank you. I was looking for this.

Gotta love a long plan that works out. Edmond would be proud.

Revenge is best served by being able to convert your old boss's office into a toilet. The Long Game pays off.

More like log game, am I right guys?

8 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 1

Technically you don't have to wait or convert it.

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

My old office was a converted toilet... The cycle continues I guess.

Question, so the uncle was able to provide better working conditions to his employees as well as a better product (healthcare) to his 1/

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Patients. Are we assuming it’s because he was more talented than the teacher, less greedy, both, or other? 2/2

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Ok nevermind, i re read and he says hés openly racist with a bunch if the population, so ok that clarifies thongs

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Honestly, I think your uncle is smart and it’s unlike he sat about to ruin the old practice. Now, if the bathroom had a sign pointing 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

2/2 our that the bathroom used to be Dr. Fuckface’s office, that would be twisted. You just described a man thriving at something he loved!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

(Sorry, last thought wouldn’t fit.) ...thriving at something he loved WHILE HELPING PEOPLE. That’s just awesome.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I don't believe you

8 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 8

you don't believe someone became a doctor and opened their own clinic? are you challenged or something?

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 8

yeah because that's the most ridiculous part of the story. https://media2.giphy.com/media/a3zqvrH40Cdhu/giphy.gif

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

It's literally only part of the story

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

it really really isnt. that's part 2, parts 3, 4 and 5 are about him becoming uber successful, boxing in his teacher, and ultimately>

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

>turning his teacher's old office into a bathroom. And wadayaknow, most of that probably didn't happen.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Sucks that my experience with imported docs in Australia is that they're all terrible, looking to churn through patients as fast as possible

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 3

My experience has been different, my last 2 doctors were from Iran and India, both have been the best doctors I've ever had in my life.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Ive had had a good Indian dr and two bad

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Had an Indian practitioner for my daughter when she was younger. He was great, but the place he practiced at was terrible at communication 1

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They'd send messages and whatnot that they called when you didn't receive any to reschedule, and then kick you if you tried to sort it out.2

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've seen a couple of immigrant doctors since I fell pregnant, and they were very patient and compassionate about the fact 1/

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

that I am a 1st time mum freaking out about every little thing 2/

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've made the opposite experience in Germany. When I was a kid, my pediatrician was Iranian, as is my current gastroenterologist. And my...

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

urologist is Egyptian. There are some communication problems with the latter since he only speaks broken German, but they all are/were ...

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

very friendly and take more time per patient than German docs. The one exception being my former GP, who was from the the former DDR.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I was speaking about Australia specifically. Can't comment on elsewhere.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Might have to do with foreign-born doctors having less patients since Germans can be a tad racist. You wouldn't know it from our history tho

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

This is the best "Your success is the best revenge" story I've ever read, what a man. Kudos.

8 years ago | Likes 1567 Dislikes 6

If it's true, these successes are rare. Most just get fucked by the system, learn to live that life. Then people wonder why they are bitter.

8 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 1

I love the fact that it wasn't just success revenge, it was also revenge revenge. A fucking bathroom.

8 years ago | Likes 114 Dislikes 1

No, a normal bathroom.

8 years ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 1

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

exactly

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Okay dv fairies. This is extreme sarcasm: so you're saying an immigrant took that man's job? (I'm going to hell)

8 years ago | Likes 316 Dislikes 17

If your shitty at your job someone qualified will eventually

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Lol, turns out his xenophobic paranoia was justified. FUCK ALL THOSE DIFFERENT LOOKING/SOUNDING PEOPLE WHO WORK HARDER FOR LESS MONEY!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Can you actually in real life find me someone against legal immigration? I mean, if it's such a huge problem surely you can find someone.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I'm against overpopulation does that count? I mean yes my country could support more people I just don't see why you would want to?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I know some people. Not the majority of people I know, but still an uncomfortable number

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The only people who are against legal immigration don't know the difference from illegal immigration.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Or more likely don't know that legal immigration exists, knowing this country.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

He terk their jerbs!

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Derk err derrr!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

As a white Aussie guy that immigrated to Canada, I facetiously joke about immigrants stealing jobs and everyone gets hella uncomfortable...

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Just fyi, you actually emigrated to Canada. You immigrated from Australia.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I thought the strong accent makes it obvious I'm not serious.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I’m an immigrant who took someone’s job and automated a few hundred jobs since then. These stolen jobs sustain my evil essence.

8 years ago | Likes 110 Dislikes 2

I knew it!

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

I used to automate jobs for a living. It felt good seeing my stuff work, but I felt bad I was getting people fired. Money's money though.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

If it wasn't you, someone else would be doing it. It's the way the future's going, society needs to adapt.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

going to be hard to adapt to a whole class of people being essentially unemployable though without some sort of UBI

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It is, thus why I believe UBI is going to be the path forward ultimately.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm not an immigrant and write software to automate jobs usually done by immigrants. I'm the Y(in/ang) to your Y(ang/in)

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Upvote because I like the way you wrote this.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No joke, at first I thought it was a math formula.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I'm not sure if I actually believe this since internet, but you know what? I don't care and will take joy from this anyways.

8 years ago | Likes 1017 Dislikes 17

this is why i like imgur, full of positive people

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This type of thing has easily happened many times over throughout history. Not sure if that reassures your joy or the reversed it :/

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 1

given what i've seen so far in the health profession, the shit boss side of things is very easily believable

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Literally my first thought. It may not be true, but it is definitely pleasing!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

yea, esp when the article reads: "from time to time there is a shortage of qualified medical practitioners" pretty sure thats a constant..

8 years ago | Likes 106 Dislikes 5

This was originally posted on r/prorevenge, its not an article

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Always a shortage in rural areas, thus the work visa offer. But all these doctors go back to the cities to compete for the limited positions

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Rural australia suffers massively from qualified professionals.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But there really is

8 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 2

funny thing is.. when you treat people who work like dogs.. like dogs.. they will turn round and bite and then run away..

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Could have just skipped your first sentence.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 39

I don't care and will take joy from this anyways.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Could have skipped being a smart ass

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 4

It’s funny you say that, because I come from a very long line of smart asses, and we really can’t help it. It’s in my blood.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I truly understand that. I'm only half smartass, but the genes are really strong, it very much is out of our control, isn't it.
