This will probably die in usersub, but that’s okay. I just need to talk about it. I have a rare clotting disorder— Von Willebrand’s Disease. I had an appointment with my hematologist a few months ago to discuss potential risks of getting the Covid vaccine. I’m on a medication that helps my blood coagulate more easily, and the risks of an interaction between the vaccine and my medication are currently unknown because no studies or trials exist. My anxiety has been through the roof for the past 2 years because of the virus, and I’ve still been wearing my mask daily and social distancing. Basically, I was told I would be at a higher risk for developing blood clots or other issues if I choose to get vaccinated. I’m so over this shit, and seeing people post about how anyone who’s still unvaccinated is a piece of shit. SOME OF US CAN’T GET VACCINATED SAFELY. I don’t care if this gets downvoted to Hell; I’m just beyond frustrated with those who are fully vaccinated lumping those of us who aren’t into one big, hedonistic category.

Please realize when we say we hate the unvaxxed, it will NEVER include those who have no choice. We want them to think of those like you. <3

It really isn't the folks who want people vaccinated that are your problem, though

4 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

You’re not anti-vax, you’re the reason why we get mad at anti-vaxxers. Stay safe out there!

4 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 2

Downvoted to hell? Every one of the people that have been vaccinated have, in part, done so to protect folks like you. We see you, we care.

4 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

You are the reason we want those who can get vaccines to do so. Because it's those who can't that will suffer the longest and hardest.

4 years ago | Likes 49 Dislikes 3

I doubt anyone who can comprehend your situation would hold it against you. Stay healthy please and we all wish the best for you.

4 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

I think I can safely speak for all vaccinated ppl - they are definitely NOT referring to ppl like you. this must be hard for you, stay safe!

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Nah, you’re fine, homez. When we Bitch about these people we 100% aren’t talking about the few people who are in fact endangered by vaccines

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Did you know Von Willenbrand’s is also called “Prancing Poodle” disease? It’s also common in Briard dogs. I have it too and I’m shutting up

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Well I’ll be darned. You learn something new every day. Did you get the vaccine?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No. I’m a pharmacist, I know there aren’t any microchips in it, but risk of throwing a clot?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm getting my 3rd booster next month to help people like you. It's all we can do. Anti-vaxx people suck and are ruining it for everyone.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

When I say anti-vaxx I mean people who can get vaccinated but don't want to (because facebook science).

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have raynauds and I spaced mine out by 3 months because of the clotting fear. I hope they can come up with a plan for you soon

4 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 1

Follow your doctor and screw what others think. I had 3 months of pissing everyone off but that what was right for me.

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Is this for a specific vaccine or all of them? Pfizer rates of clotting issues are pretty much zero

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

It's not the vaccine causing clotting that's the issue I think. It sounds like it's how the meds will interact with it. Not enough info yet.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Exactly

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

All of them

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Damn, sorry to hear :(

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Can't you get off the medication for a while, while you are getting the vaccine? Ask your doctor, maybe few weeks+ 1 dose vaccine will work.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have hemophilia, which isn't too different. I got the vaccine and I didn't even think to check with my doctor lol. Stay safe friend.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

We failed you. As a species we had the choice to exterminate this virus through containment and quarantine, we wouldn't have even needed /

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

the vaccine. I fear our collective reaction to Covid-19 and climate change is proof we're a failed species.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm sorry. Stay safe!!

4 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Stay safe.

4 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

Hey I have Von Willibrance too! But mine is very mild and I was able to get the vaccine.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

When I am bashing on un-vaccinated people, I usually try to use "willfully un-vaccinated." But, in todays social media its hard to finish a

Nailed it.

4 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

My partner has no immune system. He got three Pfizer shots and never built immunity. I need people to get vaccinated and mask up to protect

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Him, but they're selfish fucks. You guys will get do sick and can die if you catch the virus, and these people don't care. We work in

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Science labs with scientists with PhD's who hit bars with no masks and invite him to big parties with strangers. And now there's flu and RSV

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Stay strong, OP, and safe. Some of us are doing *everything* we can to protect you. I hope the people around you love you as much as I love

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My biochemist lover :)

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As someone who is immuno suppressed, that sucks. I hope they (and I) get to go all the places soon.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well then I’m glad that I’ve received mine so that I can help protect you @FoxWithSocks

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Then I got mine specifically to help people like you to be safe..i wish I could say then let us do this for you....but people amiright?!?!

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

@op The UK NHS advice is that those with bleeding disorders CAN have the vaccine, but some precautions must be taken

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

There’s literally no data on how it reacts with my medication (desmopressin acetate).

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Which is why I hope you stay safe and secure while docs gather a bit more data.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

@OP ask your doctor to speak higher up to get you into one of those Trials, you could be the person who proves it's safe.

4 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 5

They'll send off a large sample of your blood to see if the vaccine interacts poorly with it, if not you'll be approved for the trial.

4 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

Wait… so they can just take my blood and ship it off to be tested? I’m so down for that.

4 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Since it's blood clotting issues, I imagine they'd just take a big bag of blood, stick the needle w/ vax in it and see if the contents clot.

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

The way my medication works is by interacting with the lining of my blood vessels/ arteries, so I don’t know if it’s that simple.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes please do that!!!

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'm about 99% certain there's more to it than just that, but that's honestly probably where they'll start as a screening process.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

And you wouldn't even need all that big of a bag of blood either probably. 1 unit would probably be enough

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have two Factor V mutations and have to take xarelto, I have no clue how similar our conditions are or what medication you take but 1/2

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I got vaccinated with moderna and have been fine so far, I'm not a hematologist lol so take it with a grain of salt

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

We know not everyone is able to get vaccinated. We're talking about those who can. With 140 characters we can't spell it out every time.

4 years ago | Likes 571 Dislikes 19

I was just about to say I don’t have enough characters to explain this dumdum

4 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

i.e. for "anti-vaxxer" read "voluntary anti-vaxxer".

4 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

Nah anti vax is opposing vaccination, being unable to vax is something entirely sifferent

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Following conjugation language, people who can't Vax might be avaxxers. Not against it but not directly with it

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I guess there must be both sides out there but it feels like want-to-but-can't is probably a high proportion.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Good point. Anti-vax and can't-vax are _very_ different things. Can't-vaxxers shouldn't think they are included when anti-vaxxers get dissed

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Ok, like 1/30,000,000 really can't get vaccinated. Most a just Trumptards and full of shit.

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Somehow I kinda think it’s more than that.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Closer to 1/50,000

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Waaay more. Transplant patients, chemo patients, a few autoimmune…. Your rate would be onluy 12 in the whole US.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Most of those can, but wouldn't help much, as an imunocompromised system won't generate antibodies. And then there's allergies.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I get vaccinated so you, the one who can’t, don’t have to

4 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 2

The ones **

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Samesies.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thank you <3

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The vaccine can also trigger a chronic flare for those with autoimmune disorders. It's worth it, but I hate ppl who belittle that. 1/2

4 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

It's not the vaccine's fault, it's just how some immune systems react, and those struggling with that aren't saying they regret it. 2/2

4 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

I had an allergic reaction with Moderna and am still getting my booster, I just have an epi pen ready this time.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If you switch to a different one, will that also trigger the allergy? Can't you test it before getting it?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If I could test an allergic reaction on myself without having an allergic reaction, things would be awesome.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They do the test where they rub your/prick skin with different allergens for testing. Does that not work for whatever is in vaccines?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hopefully it goes well! heard the booster is a lot smoother but makes ya thirstier, getting the same one in a few days.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Von Willebrand is a bleeding disorder. It is not a contraindication to getting the pfizer or moderna COVID vaccines. The only worry /1

4 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Note the National hemophilia Foundation recommends vaccination (https://www.hemophilia.org/)

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

is bleeding from the injection, so sometimes they recommend you take your clotting factors first. There is no evidence of harm or blood /2

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

It makes me wonder if this is Type 3 VWD. The joint pain at type 1 sucks, I can't imagine going through the vaccine side-effects @ type 3.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

clots from the mRNA vaccines like there is with the Astrozeneca. Is your hematologist being overly cautious for some reason?

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

From what i understood, the problem is the medicine taken for that disorder. And i wonder if they can't be suspended for a while.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Where the concern lies is with the vaccine potentially interacting with my medication in a negative way.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

If it does, you're probably screwed if you get actual covid. Just get the mRNA ones, they don't have known clotting side effects.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Nothing in medicine (or life) is 100% for sure so there will always be concerns. But overall I think it’s vastly better than getting covid!

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But they recommend taking the DDAVP after the injection (or TXA) if needed

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I feel for you, I hate anti-vaxxers in part because they make things so much harder for people with legitimate exceptions.

4 years ago | Likes 489 Dislikes 13

I literally stay up to date on all of my vaccines… even the optional ones. I hate this. :(

4 years ago | Likes 84 Dislikes 0

I'm sorry you feel the pressure and I hope that people haven't been trying to make you feel guilty. It's a huge problem that people are

4 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

...also trying to falsify exemptions, it only adds to the stigmatizing. I deputize you to kick those people in the face

4 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Or with a pipe, for social distance ;)

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Dude… I’ve had people tell me that I should just go against what my hematologist said and get vaccinated anyway. facepalm.jpg

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Right?!? Like they did their own research about your medical condition?

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Those people are stupid people. Real medical issues is why the rest of us should take the vaccine, so the people who can't have a chance.

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Covid isnt going away. Eradicating covid isn;t in the cards. And vaxxed people can still carry and transmit it so idk what the solution is.

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 5

Eradication is technically feasible. Yes vaxxed people can still be infected and spread but much lower r0 contributes to herd immunity

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The only thing that prevents us from completely eradicating covid is participation

4 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Because people don't know how herd immunity works. Some areas have little to know COVID because people are vaxxed and the virus has nowhere

4 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

To go. No hosts means no spread. If more people are vaxxed, the immunocompromised are insulated against the disease.

4 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

But vaxxed people can be hosts and spread it. Vax just lessens the reaction.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 12

Right. Again, people do not understand immunity or probability. If you could buy a lottery ticket that has a 1 in 4 chance of winning

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sure, there's a non-zero chance that a vaccinated person can spread it. But vaccines certainly lessen the chance.

4 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

We hate the anti-Vaxxers exactly because people like you can’t get it and they put you at risk

4 years ago | Likes 1699 Dislikes 26

Would convalescent plasma be a solution for some in this predicament?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This! My friend has it too and it sucks

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This THIS and more of This. Anti vaxxer are morons but people who should not get vaccinated for med reasons are not at all the same

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But the vaccine doesn't really stop you from getting it or spreading according to latest studies. So the vaccine only protects you.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

does you petty reasoning for hating other people help the poster? he/she still has restrictions like all of us

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We actually hate them for lots of good reasons, but this is a particularly good reason.

4 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Yep. This.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well said...

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yup. There is a huge difference between anti-vaxx and those who cant get the vaccine.

4 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Tru dat

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You'd be surprised how many people can't have the vaccine and the vaxxers immediately attack them

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So you’re saying “the vaxxers” shouldn’t lump all the anti-vaxxers together, I’ll mention it at the next meeting. Jk I know what you mean.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

https://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/960086. Johnson and Johnson linked to Immune Thrombocytopenia, your body attacking the platelets .

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Well put. The anger directed at anti-vaxxers is primarily due to them exposing other immunologically-vulnerable people in danger.

4 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

They kinda put all of us at risk, whether able to be vaccinated or not, because herd immunity is key to beating this

4 years ago | Likes 95 Dislikes 2

Preface: not anti-vax. Herd immunity may not be possible with the current vax efficacy and variants. Transmission is slowed, not stopped

4 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

With masks, though, it's in range. And booster dose Pfizer recently showed 95% efficacy over standard 2, which is still fairly effective.

4 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

The number will shift because despite a large sample, there weren't that many cases in the fully vaccinated group. So it was like 100 vs.

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

5 cases at the end of the trial, something like that. A very good initial sign.

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Doesn't the covid vaccine enlarge your penis, and make your boobs bigger? ;)

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It made mine bigger

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Exactly and i'm so tired i had to explain this to so many of these dense motherfuckers.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

While I have already gotten the vaccine and am 100% pro vax. In Ireland about a 95% of people are vaxxed and the case #'s are massive again+

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

+ we DO have proportionally way less people in hospital. But everyone getting vaxxed won't help OP much since it still transmits

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

How are the death rates?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Much lower. The vaccines are helping most people. My point is everyone else getting vaxxed won't really lower the risk for people who can't

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0
