Man tries to duplicate movie stunt. Falls 20 meters. Basically from 5th floor....and lives.

I bet that was more entertaining than the actual stunt

and the other dude was standing to catch on the other side lol

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I bet they didnt math it.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

How the hell was he able to walk away from that?

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Impact speed was probably only about 35 mph. He got lucky (e.g., if it had landed on its roof, it might not have gone so well for him), but being in a car and wearing a seatbelt played a big role, too.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

The car was a woman. Bet you feel dumb now.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 4

Well, I see your problem. not enough runway to gain speed

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Also it helps to keep your front wheels on the ramp

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Just like a Russian General.

2 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

Fell off a roof

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Lucky he was in Russia - in China the whole building would have collapsed on him.

2 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 1

but he still woudn't be hurt, because materials quality is shit.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

He was only going like 12mph. How did they expect him to make that?

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

imagine the resolve needed to make this happen, just getting a car on that roof; combined with the near endless stupidity required to maintain faith in the project

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

How did they get the car up there..?

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Used a Lada

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

In Soviet Russia, gravity is same for everybody.

20 meters ≈ 66 feet or 33 washing machines

2 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 2

22 washing machines.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You must be going width or depth but not height.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

If the front wheels hadn't come off the launch ramp at the last second then who knows.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Well, he missed by half a car, so i think we can figure it out

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How did they brought the car to the top of the building in the first place? And what car is that, a Lada or a real car? Couldn't they have picked a more powerful/lighter one? The crash speed against the floor is about 70 km/h, right? It seems it had no airbag, why not use a car with one? So many questions remain unanswered...

Lada Niva

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Well, now it's got a Lada damage, and it's Niva gonna drive again.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

If its stupid and works well.... shit.. didn't work. But at least he lived?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I think what you meant to say was , Well that was Ruzzian… since early last year the word stupid has been supplanted by the term Ruzzian which is the superlative expression for seriously mindlessly unthinkingly ridiculously stupid without care.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

People think it don't be like it is, but it do.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Fun fact: that stunt is completely based on math, and the driver had never done it before. The car had to be perfectly centrally balanced, so the driver and the controls had to be in the center of the car. As long as the driver hits the ramp at the exact right speed, the jump will be successful, and the one in the film was done in one take. It was also done in front of a crowd of more than 100 reporters - the Bond films had been accused of using special effects rather than actual stunts. Despite

2 years ago | Likes 46 Dislikes 1

I'd read it was a model wtf

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I…. I never realized Bond ever did their own stunts. First bond I saw was Pierce. So Tom cruise is kinda taking up that torch now?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

I don't think they mean the star actor did the stunt, they probably used a stunt driver.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I’m not even talking about the main actor, just doing practical stunts vs cgi. Like them or not, Mission Impossible and Fast and Furious are doing the vast majority of their stunts practically with CGI sprinkled in to make it look good, not the other way round

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ah, I read "did their own stunts" differently. When you predate CGI, practical is a lot more attractive. Miniature work is finicky, can produce poor results, and it can be expensive to create the miniatures and use the techniques that make them look good - construction, control, cameras, salaries of the people putting in the time on the set and on the film. Just trying to do it for real can be cheaper, if you can be reasonably sure you can get it in one. And of course, looks better.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

having seen the stunt performed live, many reporters who later saw the film still said it was an amazing special effect. Also, the director later said that adding the slide whistle to the scene was his greatest regret in film making.

2 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 1

I'm really glad you mentioned the slide whistle because I love this stunt, this movie and this story but that slide whistle is the worst idea in history lol. Absolutely ruins the mood imo

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It really is an amazing stunt done with a vehicle.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

As it bloody well should have been. The film was silly enough, but that slide whistle chopped the balls off Bond until Timothy Dalton showed up with his humongous pair.

2 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

I wish Dalton had gotten better scripts. He was so good as bond and got the weakest movies.
