How your pets are treated behind the scenes at the Vets Office

So terrible! Lol

We have to schedule my dogs appointments around a certain nurses schedule cause he only lets her pick him up. He’s a chihuahua...

Veterinarian caught on camera viciously cuddling animals.

5 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

They’re in it for the cuddles.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

One of my dogs tend to be popular at vets since apparently Irish setters aren't too common anymore

I caught a vet's aid mistreating my cat when she was alive. Emmy turned her latex gloves into ribbons.

Dog: “Listen lady, I’m only here for a teeth cleaning.”

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It’s true. We baby any and all animals as much as we can. Even the ones who do not love us back.

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

My mom's dog would come back smelling like a French whore he had so many techs carrying him around.

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

When one of our cats had to stay at the vets, they'd call us and say how much of a joy he was to have around. They were sad when he left.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I prefer to see that than to see them maltreated them.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Worked at a vet clinic for a few years. Can confirm.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The poor dog just wants to know where his nuts went

5 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

I am ok with this. Love them like they are yours

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

my dog hates to be carried like that.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 4

With you, maybe. My dogs can vary with different people.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yeah. I thought I loved dogs, but those people are mental.

Dog- Goddman it Linda quit dancing with me and just give me my pain meds.

5 years ago | Likes 151 Dislikes 3

Imagine if doctors did things like this, like please get me on the floor !

5 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Dognabit Linda!

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Plot twist, she had the meds and gave the dog water instead.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

My vets office used to carry my teacup Pom in the pocket of their lab coats. They spoiled the little guy. ❤️

5 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Love it! My dog hates being picked up though so she’d either squirm until you put her down, or just lay frozen in fear ?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The vet who used to see my cat was allergic to cats.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

TBH, if my vets and vet techs aren't like this with my cats, I'm going to find another vet. I'm 100% okay with them doing this.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think I'm going to dress up as a dog.

you're in luck, there's a whole community for just that!

Worked at a vet clinic for a few years. I also remember some anesthetized animal puppet shows.

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Mostly retellings of stand-up bits, but with tongues and ears flapping about. Also, cats are floppy, anesthetized cats are reeeeal floppy.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I’m going to need more details here. This sounds great.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

The other day we had an extra syringe of blood so we drew a portrait with it of the dog it belonged to.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I read that as euthanized animal puppet shows

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The euthanized animals only had one bit, and it was pretty dark (in the cadaver bag, and in the dumpster)

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That was the most urgent double-take I've ever done.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

At some* vets offices. I walked in on a vet hitting the dog, not a warning but a hard smack. I've come across some fucking awful vets who

5 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 2

Send me location!!

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

3 of them in Ireland, I won't list location as that would reveal my location

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

usually treat farm animals. They can be vile towards them. However I have found one which is lovely and kind now. I kinda wish they all had

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

glass viewing areas. I want to see how they treat my animal, I don't care about blood etc and won't be emotional. I just want to be damn

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

sure they are safe and treated well.

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

A vet closed a sliding door on my cat when he ran right on his ribs. Shoved the vet against a wall. Closest I've come to fighting a stranger

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Aw fuck no. Did your kitty end up being okay? I'm so sorry that happened to you!

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah, his name is cow. I found a new vet afterwards. Love your username BTW. Thanks for asking.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

We go to a small vet clinic and we can hear the techs get all giddy passing around our pups (Chow Chows & a Corgi) when we bring them in.

5 years ago | Likes 242 Dislikes 3

I had a tech walk in and go "OH MY GAWD" when my chihuahua mix was leaning into my chest for comfort. Painfully cute dog.

When I picked up my dog from a 4 day stay at the vet, a nurse was in surgery & couldn't say goodbye to him & was genuinely upset.

5 years ago | Likes 959 Dislikes 2

When I had to put my chihuahua to sleep on new years they let me stay late to say goodbye longer.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Did you stop by later so she could say goodbye?

5 years ago | Likes 76 Dislikes 0

Yes, I did.

5 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

Good human!

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Mine sent me a video at 3am of my 4 month old pup who was so scared the vet slept with her and she was snuffle sleeping so the vet filmed it

5 years ago | Likes 40 Dislikes 0

My main vet referred me to a specialist for surgery. They called me weeks later to see how my cat was doing. It was so sweet.

5 years ago | Likes 42 Dislikes 0

Can confirm-worked at a vets for YEARS. We loved going in the back& showing love to all the patients..our breaks included cuddles & snuggles

5 years ago | Likes 272 Dislikes 0

Too sad that we don't treat humans the same way.

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Idk about you man. But I don’t want to be hugged by nurses on their shifts. They have to clean a lot of shit up

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Porters do most of the cleaning in a hospital.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I would do that too! But i'm not sure how i would handle taking in old or sick pets for their last moments. but i guess it's for the better?

5 years ago | Likes 56 Dislikes 0

To give them a good few last moments free of pain and let them feel loved in the last moments? I would at least need a few snuggles after

5 years ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 0

Honestly I don’t usually talk about certain parts of workin at a clinic for obv reasons.. but sometimes being there in the last moments was

5 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 0

My favorite part..yes it’s sad but you get to see how much this animal was loved in its life by its owners..you get to see their faces light

5 years ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 0

I read recently that their suicide rates tend to be higher. Take good care of your vets please. They really do care.

5 years ago | Likes 133 Dislikes 1

Access to Ketamine...

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Yes, vet suicide is high. People in vet clinics are treated just as awful as retail workers. Yea your dog is sick but don't be a cunt

5 years ago | Likes 54 Dislikes 0

Except retail workers dont see cats with crushed spines or that had bricks thrown in their faces, and that shit tends to haunt you.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Yeah, a lot of is is us being treated like retail workers, being paid like retail workers (even though we have to go to school /1

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

to be accredited, and that's 10k minimum for a vet tech), and not being able to give the best care bc of capitalism. We want to help your /2

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

pet, but we need a paycheck & funds for the clinic. And we're constantly being told "IF YOU REALLY LOVED ANIMALS YOU'D DO IT FOR FREE!" /end

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I did animal rescue for years and knew multiple rescuers who committed suicide. I think the empathy for the animals sometimes means hearts/1

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

too tender for this world.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Dentists are on top of that list, for some reason.

5 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

My friend is a kids dentist. He refuses to look at adults because they have the choice to do a good job and just DON'T. Kids can learn.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I always thought its bc they have to do a ton of school like a doctor does but they don't get any respect for that.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

“Why do they always have to lie to me about flossing?”

5 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Out of curiosity, is it higher than human doctors?

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Yes it's higher than human doctors

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Idk for sure but i would say higher because animals cant tell you whats wrong, and we dont euthanize healthy humans. Its gotta hurt.

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Vets don't usually euthanize healthy animals at vet clinics, at least. Fucking difficult work for shelter workers, though.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah the shelters is what i was gettin at. Its rough.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Vets are the best people

5 years ago | Likes 327 Dislikes 3

Worked at a vet few years ago. The three male vets were genuinely some of the worst people I have ever met in my entire life.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But, they were all exceptional at their job. So, they had that going for them

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Tough profession emotionally. Thank your vet, tell them how much their care means to your family. They need to hear it.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Vets are the beast people

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

My sister is a vet and really needs to hear that right now

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But when I do it it's all 'what the Greg' and 'how did you get back in the morgue, Greg'

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Wife is a vet. Our cats are not always fans though. The transition from cuddle to "what is this?" And then on to an examination is short

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Human vets would love to do that too, but something something "ethical violation" "moral quandary" and other stupid crap D:

5 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

If a nurse wants to pick my fatass up and snuggle me like that after surgery I probably wouldn't say no, granted anesthesia in effect

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

accompanied by a rather high suicide rate caused by animal pain and suffering and having to be put to sleep

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Also cos of easy access to lethal drugs.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

As a vet, I'd say people (owners) being garbage, shit pay and shit hours are way higher on the list than compassion burnout

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

I dated a couple vets. Both desensitized, on antidepressants and liked to booze it up. Probably not a coincidence.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The folks that work at animal shelters too! The gal working there the day we adopted our cat is always asking how she's doing when she sees

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

us. She was shocked as hell we chose an older cat and not one of the younger ones. All I can say is we saw a kitty that needed love and

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

once she got used to us is an absolute cuddle bug. As long as my toddler isn't in the room lol.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I dropped my cat off for a checkup (he had a horrible almost fatal infection and had 2 surgeries) and the dingus pissed himself on the (1)

5 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Way in his plastic carrier so he was pretty pissy when we showed up. (I got as much as I could give the towels I had, he usually saves(2)

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

The pee for when we are almost home) I was so embarrassed and apologized to the tech a bunch he just said "hey, thats how oliver is (3)

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Feeling today and thats okay." And when he brought him back and I apologized again he said it wasn't even the grossest fluid he cleaned (4)

5 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

That day. Medvet dallas saved my cats life and have continued to kick ass ever since. (We are almost at the 6mo post op mark)(fin)

5 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

As a vet who mostly sees negative comments towards vets on social media, this has made me weirdly emotional. Thank you.

5 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

As a vet...same. I teared up a little.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Why. In the WORLD. Would there be negative comments about you guys. You're literal heroes. You take care of the furbabies, you give love and

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

2/3 care to our furry best friends. You help them when they need healing. You deal with shitty pet owners and help the good ones. You

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

3/3 lay beloved furry members of the family to rest when it's time. I could never do what you all do. Thank you for everything.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They really are. Their passion and love for all animals is a given.

5 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 1

I thought about becoming one, but I don't think I could handle it emotionally. I love animals so much! But to have them dying and I can't /1

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

save them, or to have to put them down. I know it's often the compassionate choice, but still. It must be so hard. I'm not sure I could /2

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

even volunteer in a shelter. I'd end up wanting to adopt them all. /3

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Sounds like you went with the right choice. You don't have to be a vet to love animals with all your heart. :)
