Been waiting for an asset like this for a long time. Water this awesome is super hard. The developer of Fluid Flux https://www.unrealengine.com/marketplace/en-US/product/fluid-flux has been working on it for over a year. I must say it's beautiful. I know Horizon Forbidden West has amazing water. What other games have awesome water? Also, steam link if you want to learn more about my game https://store.steampowered.com/app/1468110/Elements/

That makes me thirsty

Testing the physics by just flooding a blank mesh is awesome. You made a very good choice.

Abzu has beautiful water.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It does!!

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This game? It has good water.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

;)

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Shadow of the aTomb Raider has great water too.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Appreciate the suggestion. Never got to play that yet

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

yeah it's highly cinematic. Very fun game tho

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I loved the first one

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

UE4? or UE5? Quite insane btw

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is UE4. Will switch to UE5 at some point

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yo this simulation is dope! Perhaps add an animation to fall over when it's flowing above knees to make it more realistic?

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Thanks! That could be cool. Working on swimming integration soon

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Working in UE4 still or planning on moving to UE5?

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

UE4 still right now. In no rush to move over. Shouldn't be too hard when I do. UE5 still has some features I am waiting on to be finished

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ooh that looks... Expensive, both in $$$ and processing power.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

$$$ yes. Processing power, oddly no. Magic lol

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I was honestly half expecting her to run slower when she hit the water. awesome job man

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Def want to implement that in deeper water

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Glad to see the plug-in working so well!

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I feel like it didn't interact with/impede the player enough....that being said, it's cool. And so is that paraglider

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Thanks! Working on more interaction

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hydrophobia was built all around its water systems, you might check that out.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Thanks! I will

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Leela moist

3 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 2

really hope you keep that area and have a dam of logs etc thats blocking the water that you can release

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I got something like that in mind ;)

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've always had a thing for certain effects in games. Water being one but fire and smoke are so hard to get right too.

3 years ago | Likes 47 Dislikes 1

Storms too. One day, I'll play a game that just because there's a flash of lightning, doesn't mean the thunder should be instant.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've been pretty taken with both the water and the smoke in Valheim. It's a surprisingly beautiful game.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The way that smoke gathers under ceilings and gets pushed to the side, the way the water rises and you can see the glow of the sun in it...

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Snow

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I remember during the tech demos for World in Conflict, one of the first games to have volumetric smoke. That was amazing at the time

3 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Oh yea, first time I saw volumetric smoke blew me away!

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Why do so few games make decent fire spread!? The fire always starts, spreads to the nearest 2 things... Then fizzles out.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

It has to be a real pain In the ass to program it to stop in any realistic way.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

For me, I noticed when I had the fire spread too much it ate up a lot of resources. Trying to find a good balance

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Also how does a developer map outrhe litany of different interactions between the player, the world and something complex like fire.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sea of Thieves ;)

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

From Dust has awesome water.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Def need to check that one out. A few people have mentioned it. Thanks!

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Red Dead Redemption 2 has amazing water!

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

I need to check it out. Still haven't played. Watched tons of gameplay. Don't want to get stuck in that world lol

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Damn dude that's some good water physics, the foam and the roll is really REALLY exceptional. Very relaxing.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Sending those vibes to the asset creator. I can't take that credit!

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Wave Race 64 undulating water weave might be a good idea to look into if you do any larger bodies of water (since this looks expensive).

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

From Dust

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Still have to check that one out. Thanks!!

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

looks damn nice, how's the game development progressing? going smoothly or just bugs?

3 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 4

Going great! Looking to get a playable out for testing soon!

3 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 4

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Sign me up if it's closed testing!

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

Also, might be an idea to use surveymonkey if you want feedback on specific stuff. Up to 10 questions per survey for free version

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Good idea!!

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Please let me know, looks super sweet

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Sea of thieves?

3 years ago | Likes 80 Dislikes 2

pretty sure msot of the budget went to the water...it was so far ahead of anythign else at time.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Been meaning to try it out

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thanks!

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Best water ive ever seen for sure

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sea of thieves water is phenomenal. I was even playing with a former Navy guy who said it was spot on.

3 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

Thanks. I will check it out!

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've never been in open ocean, so I can only attest to what the guy said.

3 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Great laugh, thanks!

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I kinda hope sea of thieves figures out how to swap to UE5 for stability

3 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

Under what basis are you presuming the game would be more stable after a grueling engine swap to a newer less tested engine in early access?

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

General reviews from various companies praising it for it's stability? Even one of the vtubers I watch is able to do hair physics with more1

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Stability. With it being a physics based game that's what my assumption is based on. I never said it would be easy, just a wish. 2/2

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Super mario sunshine, wind waker.

3 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

Wave Race Blue Storm.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Still waiting on Nintendo for a damn Wind Waker port to Switch

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

UGH I really hope so, let's all collectively cross our fingers!! I was hoping for a remake last year, but we got Skyward Sword instead :(

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I gotta say it's crazy how far water physics have come in games

3 years ago | Likes 219 Dislikes 4

But wait, there's more! Two minutes papers on YouTube is amazing

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's all downstream from here.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Agreed. All of the things really. Long way from OG Atari

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Right but mirror reflections are so far gone, even the most AAA doesn't do them anymore. Makes me sad

3 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 3

Yup. Still remember vividly how excited I got for Duke Nukem's mirrors. It's just like real world!

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Huh? Actual reflections become more and more common as games start using ray-tracing. Past reflections were almost always just dupe rooms.

3 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 1

Yep, get you a card with RTX. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ThmbsIqQKIg

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In this economy?!???!

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Camera projections.

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Rasterization renderers are amazing, and we have a lot of clever tricks, but unfortunately it's hard to do reflections well with them.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You inevitably sacrifice something: Performance, quality, or both. Ray tracing is an option, but locks out the bottom 70% of market.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's because they take a ton of time a cost a lot of system resources for something most players won't notice or care about.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

For a bathroom mirror type, not really You just add a second camera to the scene and output it to a 2D plane.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It doesn't really add to render cost because all of the rendered objects are already in memory. If a game has security cameras, same trick.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Reflections in a mirror might make the game more immersive, but not more fun, and at the end of the day what matters more?

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

some people enjoy immersion

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

Some people enjoy mobile games, too ?‍♂️

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

As an older title, Witcher 3 has really nice water.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

*chuckle* Older title... oh dear god I'm old. I think Baldurs Gate is an "older title".

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Fair tbh, 7 years isn't THAT old. ;) My CPU even is older, 2011!

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

7 years sure sounds like a long time. It just doesnt feel like a long time anymore.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I just got irrationally defensive hearing you call Witcher 3 an "older title" :P I get what you mean, but still... ouch. I'm old.

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Well, my other option would have been original FarCry, I don't think that would have made anyone feel any better ;)

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Doesn't make me feel better. But good suggestion ;)

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also old here lol

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Subnautica has pretty good water.

3 years ago | Likes 349 Dislikes 5

Pretty scary water.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

I don't remember it having much water in it

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I fucking loved that game. I've finished like a year ago and I'm already "nostalgic" when I think about it.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Below zero is more of the same in essence while being different enough to be interesting.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah I'm waiting for below zero because I know I'll be "sucked in" once again but it is on my wishlist for sure !

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It is your primary directive to swi̢m̴ c͞lo͞sęr͜ to that b̵͞ȩa̢ú̶tíf̕ùl̵͏ c̸͘r̨e̵at͜ur̷̛e̴̵̸...

Fuuuuuck mesmers. "Oh look, a new pretty fish to scan, I'll just- GHACK!!!"

3 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

My wife had a major link for Mesmers. Combination of creature and mind control hit buttons I.. can't.

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Link or KINK?!

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Kink**

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I've never actually found a mesmer. The one creature in Subnautica that eludes me.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Fuuckk they were just down the way from where I built my base. Every time I got out of the PRAWN I had to be on high alert.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

They're fairly rare, but they are horrible to deal with.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Great one!

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It does. But OP may be referring to dynamic fluid assets judging by the video clip.

3 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 3

When a turned a corner and got to meet a reaper for the first time there were some dynamic fluid assets in my pants. . . Does that count?

3 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Negative if you're wearing cloth then the dynamic fluid assets are just a wetness texture that is applied to the outside of the item.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

A wetmask

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Is it as scary as I think it is?

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

After you see everything in the deep, it stays scary.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Depends on the person. It has some soft jump-scares, but mostly an amazing creepy atmosphere. Easily one of the best games I've ever played.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It really depends how well you handle underwater stuff. And turning around to face a big fucking fish.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It’s the dread of the unknown that gives it a truly scary feel. That and the 80-ft monsters that will tear you apart from the shadows.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Any survival game has a certain amount of tension. The game often tricks me into thinking I'm in far more danger than I actually am.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The atmosphere is through the fuckin roof though.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's a near perfect game well worth your time

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

When people review it they usually talk about the difference between terror and horror. It took me almost a year to finish it.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

it's super scary but only 5% of the tike and that diminishes as you get more used to the environment

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It uses the fear of the unknown. What's down there that might eat me? Once you answer that question, even the scariest stuff is cute.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

In terms of difficulty, nothing is really all that scary. You're not meant to kill the big predators, but they're also giant idiots.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

v

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Those guys are a good example of what I mean. When you don't expect them, a sudden attack is terrifying. Otherwise, they're fun to watch.
