When someone asks you what your weakness is, don't say "perfectionism". REAL perfectionists never finish anything b/c it's never good enough
djumberger
Frankly, confidence is key. If you can't be confident about yourself, neither can the interviewer.
Ivehaditwithyouidiots
Idk, it sounds cliche', but I have always acted like myself during interviews...they might as well know what they're getting into.
caitynd
I have never cared if their phone vibrates in their pocket, as long as they don't answer it. You're allowed to have people who pester you.
ballisticburrito
I've brought up pay before, but only during the 'any questions' bit at the end. Still got the job each time~

This didn't really age well...

When an interviewer asks for your greatest weakness, say "Kriptonite".
normilet
"I loved my last job, the people, the work was interesting, now I'm looking for something that can challenge me even more blah blah blah"
TheStickyWicket
I was once 5 minutes late for an interview, cuz I decided to walk 4 miles to the interview... I told them my car broke down. Got the job.
YoSoFunny
Also, Make sure the boss is your relative.
ballisticburrito
I knew a guy that was 2 hours late to his 2nd interview at a distillery. Showed up drunk, too.
TheChinamanIsNotTheIssue
As a boss, this mallard is kind of a douche. A lot of the tips are good, but a tad self-important in their expression.
Lexicana
When they ask for my weakness,I always say that I am a busy body that has to keep on moving. If I don't have anything to do, I find something
Thaily
How to get a job, be 18 with 40 years of experience and be willing to work for pocket lint.
Krindi
Me: Honesty is my biggest weakness. Interviewer: I don't think honesty's a weakness. Me: I don't fucking give a shit what you think.
RoboCoonie
I've violated all of these and I'm still gainfully employed, consistently.
stuckinitaly
When asked my weakness when interviewing at Dell I said, "I tend to look down on most people. But I'm 6'4" and there's not much I can do."
whywasmyusernametakengrrrr
As a 6 5 man myself I laughed, yay random
stuckinitaly
got the job
FuriouslyAdrift
You forgot the most important thing... be under 40 and not be married or have kids.
rainingnickles
On your resume, talk about how your contributions made companies better, rather than just listing what you were responsible for day to day.
ghostsdesu
"My weaknesses are actually strengths!" This tactic is a straight shot to unimpressive.
ThatsMySecretCapImAlwaysHorny
Yeah, so 10 people show up for 1 job, and all do this. All get the job?
abiologist
"overly trendy"?
Justinicus
unprofessional.
swefur
What about if I don't have any skills, knowledge, or abilities that could make any company better?
redstaterefugee
Pretend you are a politician and lie.
TrapsAreIllegal
I always tell them that my weakness is that I am lazy, but it's my greatest strength, I do everything efficient to save time.
ActuallyMyNamesMarina
I've figured out efficient ways to do everything because I'm so lazy, and now I have to pretend I stay busy.
dentd
“Progress is made by lazy men looking for easier ways to do things” RA Heinlein.
AngelaClark
How many of those jobs did you land?
TrapsAreIllegal
So far I have always received callbacks. I usually apply for a lot of jobs at once, so I tend to turn down offers in the end.
TamikaKolm76
I'm a big fan of "What, above and beyond the job description, are you looking for in an employee?" OR (1/2)
Redandpurpleunicorns
I ask if there's anything else they want to ask me after I'm asked them things like that ^ . Forces them to show any doubts and address them
triple07
Or what?!
beelzebro
Don't 100% agree with the weakness one. You can't really "turn it into a strength", that's cheesy. Instead, use the chance 1/2
beelzebro
to show a different strength, such as the ability to learn from mistakes or take responsibility for your actions. I always admire that.
foxat0mic
I thought everyone knew these things. I always have & I haven't been hired everywhere I've applied. I do we'll but you can't guarantee.
UNC1233
The last one was in jest. You are absolutely right. You can have the perfect interview and not get hired. They are trying to hire the best.
UNC1233
...cont'd. I have interviewed many times for promotions and been passed over. They are trying to hire the best candidate.
Alixzander
Have a job interview tomorrow does any one have actual helpful advice lol
redstaterefugee
Managers want someone who will make their lives easier. Create a persona who is pleasant yet competent and professional. I pretend to 1/
redstaterefugee
Like people much more than I do, for example. Also, ask industry specific questions, such as a plan for rolling out a product they talked 2/
redstaterefugee
About. Avoid generic questions, because they will probably answer those during conversation. Good luck!
Alixzander
Yo appreciate the response
