My godparents had a furry toilet seat in the ‘80s. I was just a kid, memory is fuzzy but I’m 95% sure.

The idea of luxury and high end experiences in the 70s was absolutely wild! lol

The horrifying thing is, I actually saw, in person, a toilet that was carpeted... I don't mean just a fuzzy toilet lid cover, I mean the toilet seat itself was covered with carpet...

If my grandparents' houses didn't have the fuzzy seat cover, it was the heavy padded vinyl/plastic one. Neither were made for males as the seat would inevitably fall back down midstream if you didn't hold it up with one hand while going.

What happened to people in the 70s that made them go: “let’s put fucking shag carpet everywhere. In every room, fucking wrap the shitter with it!”

I really wanna know tho. What made them think furry toilets was a good and sanitary idea.

I think that people forget (or just never knew) that at one point, affordable wall-to-wall carpeting was a trendy new thing that marketers jumped on and tried to sell to everyone. Having a carpeted bathroom was something to brag about because you were the first person in your circle of family and friends to have one.

50s tech made a once expensive thing more widely available. The 70's were largely the end of the hype.
