You need to explore the entire country, not just the tourist traps. You'd be pissed too if you worked with tourists 24/7, 365.

Some Parisians can be a bit cranky. I like them anyway. People from Provence are nice af.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The few french i have met close the the german border after hiking the kiaser stool (bad spelling) were warm, friendly, and inviting people

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I visited Paris only twice and as a tourist, but every time I've only encountered nice, polite people.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I know ppl who say the French are assholes & ppl who say they're lovely. The ones who say theyre assholes are themselves privileged assholes

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Well that's a fact. People finding assholes everywhere are usually assholes themselves :)

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

In my experience, the best French people (and other nationals) I meet are the ones that travel outside the country

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

i totaly agree on that

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Every French person I have met have been bloody lovely.

9 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 3

Same, super nice people. Though, I s'pose I was cut some slack in Paris as an American thanks to me wearing the FRN Club shirt on.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'm French, and I don't like any of this shit.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

As a non-french speaker who visits Paris. Learn 5 friendly French greetings, use them, apologize, ask to speak English. Works Wonders. (1)

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They feel much better with their English (usually very good) once they hear your not-so-good French; this works in most prideful countries.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Learn to say "Hello", "Thank you", "I'm looking for", "Goodbye", and "I'm sorry" in french. People will be *delightful* to you.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

French people outside of Paris are awesome. You could say the same about large cities in the US. NYC vs NY State for example.

9 years ago | Likes 73 Dislikes 4

I mean, when I went to NYC people were incredibly nice and helpful. It's all about who you meet and how you act. There are dicks everywhere.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I like that answer, you're spot on!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I've found people in big cities to be pretty nice wherever I've been - Paris, Istanbul, Frankfurt and Munich, NYC, Amsterdam, Dublin. . .

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Paris was mostly beautiful, but it scared the shit out of me to walk around at night

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

French girls though...

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 3

French boys ????

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I don't swing that way but yeah there are plenty of handsome Frenchmen

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I find Parisians among the most polite people in the world. It helps if you don't show up to their country assuming they speak English.

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 3

I found that if I would at least greet them and ask if the spoke English in French first they were 5x more willing to help.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Was in France for exchange program and had a brief little affair with a cute french tomboy. One of the rare good moments in my life.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

As a French person this doesn't offend me whatsoever

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Firstly, nice name. Second, you have a wonderful country.

It's crazy to think he used to be kinda hot.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Don't get old...or fat...or piss on the floor in an airplane.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I'm doing my best on the first two. As to your last point; don't tell me what I can't do.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He didn't manage any of it and I'm a lost cause for the middle one.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Welp, may as well go for the last one! Oh won't you join me?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Don't forget that they are easy.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

not as easy as me

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Kind of fed-up with all those people summarizing France to their Parisian experience...

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

It's true if Paris is the only city that count. come to Lyon, we love people. and money, but people too.

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

I plan on going back to Europe after a graduate from Uni, and I want to go to Lyon just based on Anthony Bourdain's tv episode there.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Lyon was nice, I loved the bridges and the church at the top which lets you see the whole city.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yay it's the Basilique de Fourviere :) lovely place

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Have so many great photos of it.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Lyon might be the shittiest city in France. Just don't go there

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Its their flag too. Neat.

9 years ago | Likes 60 Dislikes 17

Which is odd because I thought there flag was just white only

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 13

2003 called, they want their jokes back.

Like a giant dysfunctional family that inbreeds.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 6

*prepare to argue that we don't inbreed* *remembers that my great-great-great grandma is also my great-great-grandma* *say nothing*

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

No worries. All of humanity is a giant inbreeding, dysfunctional family.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Well that would be kinda hard not to inbreed on a mankind scale.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

funny but true at the same time

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fuck you i'm french !

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

A few people who traveled to Paris said it looks increasingly Arabic compared to 15 years ago. Is it true?

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 6

oui! i love the arab accent in french, its superb, almost as good as a soft german accent.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh yeah, I was just there. Lots of Arabs, and armed Military.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No more than before...

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The question is : "Is there French people remaining in Paris?" :D

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

nobody ever picks italty

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

i do

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

then you've never been to america, we make fun of everyone including ourselves

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

When I was in France the people were lovely. Italy, all assholes

9 years ago | Likes 115 Dislikes 13

By the way Homer, what's your least favorite country? Italy or France? - France - Haha, nobody ever says Italy.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

always remarkable to us frenchmen: we hate italians more than we hate other frenchmen.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I can confirm having visited both.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Was in both countries last year. Had the exact same experience.

9 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

I'm surprised how often France gets shit 'reviews', I loved it. I was treated like garbage in Italy, it was actually upsetting.

9 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 2

Same!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Completely agree. Everyone in France were so nice and extremely helpful. Whereas literally everyone in Italy was a loud selfish dick

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I mean... they are Italian after all.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

For me it was the opposite.. but ehy I couldn't know, I'm Italian

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Opposite for me, altough I visited the Sardinia so it may be different than actually Italy.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

i love Italy and dont like anything related to France much ,incl. food and wine (both are better in Italy anyway)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I'm not sure. I'm an avid beer drinker myself but the food in both countries was fantastic. BUT hands down the best ham ever was in Italy

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

My experience has been exactly the same. Have traveled to 14 European countries. Only one where the people were rude/ unwelcoming was Italy.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Either I was lucky or you were unlucky because every person I met in Italy was very nice

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What part of Italy? Rome?

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Venice, Rome, Florence annnd small parts of Siena. There where small areas where people were lovely but I will never go back

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 3

Naples?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

@iseenaples

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

"See Naples and die" is literal then?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

wasn't it nipples?

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Irish – loud; no sense of cuisine; impulsive; glass of whiskey or beer in his/her hand; Celtic music fanatics; have red hair and 1/

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

and “white-white” skin; live and sleep with their sheep; religious fanatics and protesters

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Meh. I liked Ireland, I enjoy whiskey, beer and I had some great food there... the people were great.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

... Why, thank you :D

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

American – arrogant; materialistic; ambitious; US-centered world view; egoistic; fast food eaters; war mongers; God is with us!

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I'm an expat Canadian... what's my stereotype.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Canadians – submissive; neurotic; agreeable; modest; open-minded; progressive; efficient; straight-forward; polite; respectful; anxious; 1/

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

1/ law-abiding; orderly; caring for handicapped/elderly/minorities; tolerant; multi-lingual; moderate; no hero/celebrity worshiping 2/

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

2/ don’t like successful people; anti-American; passive; boring; socialist mindset; eat blubber; wear funny hats; live in igloos

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Must be honest in my travels I'm a hair more bitter. It's not until I usually visit back home in Canada when I realize people are friendlier

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Meh, i'm Irish and teetotal

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Pretty witty. And I suppose it can be easy to get that impression if you only visit Paris.

9 years ago | Likes 621 Dislikes 17

Eh, got that impression outside Paris too. Felt like if you didn't know that language and customs you were looked down upon. 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Even when I tried speaking the language most would just look insulted at you butchering their tongue

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Truth. I lived in Rouen for a year. People were fantastic.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I've been to Paris 9 times, and the only person who wasn't lovely was obviously an immigrant w/ the same nonexistent grasp of French as me

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I feel like they're only rude if you don't take the time to learn basic parts of their language, if people constantly came and only spoke

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

French to you in a non french speaking country you might get a little annoyed after a while too

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If you're gonna travel it's kinda your responsibility to at least attempt to know how to ask for stuff in the countries main language

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Indeed.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Everyone I met in Paris was really great to me. "Bonjour" "Merci" "Je suis desole" "Au revoir" "Pardon me-" is all it took.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Does Paris still exist?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Stayed around Bayeaux a few years ago. We would speak to the servers in French and they'd respond in English.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Nah, pretty much the same in Paris, Nice, Marseille and other cities along the coast line. People are rude.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I had the most arrogant asshole encounters when I was at the Côte d'Azur.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Spoilers : assholes are everywhere

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

I spent almost 2 months in France, mostly Paris, and everyone I met was lovely =\

9 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Or Montreal

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

But Montreal is the friendly part of quebec

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Spent 8 weeks in Brittany as a teenager, it's not just Paris.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Or Marseille

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I visited Paris twice and the people were really friendly, I love the city. Here in Germany many people hate France, don't know why.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Been to France. Never Paris. Post is accurate.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Visited paris, not in any hurry to go back.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If you visit Marseille it will be worst :p

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sorry but disagree with you. I think OP is right. I live in Ireland and feenxh are the worst ever

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

So true. I found Parisians to be rather rude in contrast to other French cities. Though Marseille came in a close second. Go to Lyon!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

well if the People are surrounded by Food and Wine, they will produce shit and piss, basically you can interpret the image above as a raw-

9 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 7

I'm downvoting this post just so the second half will be totally without context.

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 3

bastard :)

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I think Americans in particular arent used to Europe and our ways of socialising, therefor they call us rude. Sweden here, loves France.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Eh, if I lived in Paris I'd hate the tourists too.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I actually found Parisians to be super friendly and welcoming. Only place I've ever been where people were rude was Italy.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

- form of shit

9 years ago | Likes 74 Dislikes 3

As french, well... not so disagree about this. And Parisian doesn't help, they are often rude for other frenchies. We have to do better

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I didn't see your other comment at first and thought you were one of the wonder twins.
