Except for when the lawn grows into the grooves and you have to weed the fucking things

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We paved our walkway with one of these in like 1988.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So do you have to constantly mix batches of cement?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This looks like such a labor intensive pain

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My parents used this exact thing in their backyard

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My stubbed toes would like to have a word with you...

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I am gonna try this!!

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just buy natural stone pieces ya dingus

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Its amazing that it even works with elephant poo like in scene 2

I actually used one of these to make a concrete path to and around my fire pit.

You can just collect field stone from creek beds. Neat project.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Did this, lasted 3 years. In hindsight I should have bought pavers. Winter is not nice to these.

7 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 2

Go really cheap and use your own poop mixed with mud!

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It really works...

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Interesting, but I'd rather just do stamped concrete at that point.

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

roll stamped would be even quicker.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This can be done by non-concrete people since it doesn't require a lage pour & all the smoothing/ troweling.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Do they put stuff in between or do they like tripping hazards?

7 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 4

Fill in with soil and let the grass grow, it’s lovely.

7 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Yes! That’s what we did! We have this exact thing, and my husband made a long garden path & more with it. It’s great!

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Or moss (grows better where I live) looks pretty good too.

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

This is my dad's house. He used this mold for his WHOLE driveway. 2 square feet at a time. /a/zS4njja

7 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

But when I do it suddenly no one wants a sidewalk made out of poop.

7 years ago | Likes 433 Dislikes 11

People can be so picky.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This isn’t a joke. Portland Oregon there is human shit on the sidewalk

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Tacoma, too. They just squat and go.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I still have one of these in my garage that I bought in 1990's at the PNE (Pacific National Exibition) in BC...

7 years ago | Likes 122 Dislikes 4

I was going to say...I worked at a home improvement store while I was in college (1995-1999) and quikrete had these back then.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Want to sell it?

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

This looks almost exactly like something I looked at in the mid 1980s. Even the pattern is similar. Kewl, but not new.

7 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

BC here as well! Have you ever used the mold for anything?

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Hey I grew up in bc! And I loved the wooden roller coaster there

7 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 0

I have hundreds of the pavers someone made with these molds sitting under my deck(we ripped them all out of our yard).

7 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Why did you rip them out ?

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Can't really redo a yard without doing that.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Cause they’re dated and cheap looking?

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My parents bought one at the home & garden expo in the 80’s. My wife and I finally used it to make a path in our yard about 3 years ago.

Circle of life

7 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Some cement dye, a little work with a trowel and coarse brush, they will look almost real.

7 years ago | Likes 383 Dislikes 2

If only there was a way to make it look 100% real...

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Except for the same pattern repeated over and over. They'll never look natural like that. They need 5 or 6 different templates, mix it /1

7 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

up a bit. Then it'll be more realistic. /2

7 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

You can buy pavers that look almost identical to this

7 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 4

Used them to build my patio. To be fair I would have definitely done the home concrete if I knew about it then.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They’re way more expensive than concrete.

7 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 1

He doesn't frugal constructions

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Sweep em with a wire brush right before they fully dry, it comes out pretty nicely.

7 years ago | Likes 90 Dislikes 1

What is the texture like?

7 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 3

normal broom works fine. After finishing concrete there are still lots of small imperfections. The broom adds texture and fixes almost all

7 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

of them. But obviously sweep really lightly all in one direction to get that nice texture/pattern.

7 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

Like you swept it with a wire brush before it fully dried.

7 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

The lack of a prepared base for this is bothering the shit outta me

7 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 1

I know right... What happens the first time someone kicks it from the side? Falls apart.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 9

it looks like the dirt around it was packed... at least the first clip

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I was going to say. We prepared the daylights out of our rock patio and the grass just fucked it up after a couple years.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah, i would have been a lot happier to see some compacted earth, then a sand layer etc like normal paving.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Did mine on dirt, 18 yrs ago, still good, none broken. I know how to make strong concrete thou

7 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Is there like a secret recipe?

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah concrete can be real tough to get right. Crazy range of properties depending on tons of variables.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hot mix, add a handful of straight Portland cement per 80 lb bag
