i'd say that's a low bar but when a literal fucking quarter of the country failed that extremely simple test *TWICE* clearly that bar isn't low enough for such achievements to be considered inconsequential...
One night in 2016, I went to bed thinking, "Maybe I'm not giving this guy a fair shake. What if he really does want to end corruption and 'drain the swamp?' He's sure pissing off the Republican establishment. When I wake up, I'm going to look at the things he's ACTUALLY saying. Not what others SAY he's saying." Woke up and immediately there was some video of some completely hateful and unhinged thing coming out of his mouth.
Back in the 90s, I recall a few right wing radio hosts trashing Trump for hanging with the Clintons, being a sex-creep, a shady real-estate salesman, etc.. they loved tying Trump's sleaze-factor to the Clinton scandals. The right-wing strawman was that he was popular with the Democrats, because he was seen at functions with the Clintons.
The National Review wrote a piece circa 2012 saying Trump absolutely should not be nominated by the Republicans. They called him a bad business person.
Well guess what, I called that man a fascist when the majority on this very platform here scolded me for it. Well to me it was very clear when he first ran. I am only suprised by how stupid the US public really turned out to be.
Ok the thing is he always sucked and anyone paying attention always knew. However, if you want to convert followers you got to accept people who can admit they supported him but want to make better choices in the future.
He's just so pathetic. How can you be president of the USA but have the same energy as a kid who's wet themselves at a birthday party and is yelling at everyone that his pants are designed to look like that while the puddle grows around his feet.
I came very close to getting a garden flag that says “imagine telling your granddaughter you voted for a rapist” but I still want my MIL to come babysit for free, so I didn’t.
(I got “hate won’t make us great” with a bunch of pride-type hearts instead)
He was the stooge who opened the door for the real nightmares to come in because it benefitted him. Zero thought of consequences because he’s never faced them. Ever.
So while some think we can breathe easier once he’s gone, I think in this point in history that’s where the real horrors begin.
Not for a moment! Not for a second! I never thought he was clever or funny or anything but a malignant tumour on society. I grokked (God I hear that Musk has co-opted that word) that he was a fucking corrupt moron and a fascist from day one. I was warning of his fascism when the media was saying that was overkill. If we're getting points for hating Trump... I want some!
And McConnell ran and governed as a moderate as head of county government from 1977 through 1984. He stabbed in the back all the progressives and centrists who had supported him as he built his career.
One day when he has taken his place on the shit pile of history, every single person in his orbit from Vance to McConnell will say that they were always against him and we should thank them for keeping him in check.
No, I failed that one when I was sick, had the runs and had a coughing fit while in bed. It did not go well. Got a new mattress out of it, so I had that going for me… Other than that, I’m proud to be Dutch right now and not a United-States-ian.
I live in a bubble. You must live in an even bigger bubble. Aside from the people who voted for him last year, there are people today who still back him 100%.
kimwimgoddess
I just pray to God that I out-live him.
Osiricus
I'm proud that I never drowned any puppies.

The term man is a stretch....
Virus331
I'm not proud of it at all because not supporting this man is the most obviously correct choice there ever was.

That and I never gave Kanye West any money.

Maxwell said the Trump wanted the little girls to look as much like his own daughter as possible.

I despised him when he was firing people on that stupid tv show.

I will be thrilled if I'm ever able to go a month without seeing this shit-stain's orange punch-worthy mug.
iDrawStuff
It's been 10 years of his shit. TEN. FUCKING. YEARS. If I never hear his name again, it will be too soon.
CaptnVatka
Ten? TEN? The shit stain has been forcing himself into the public awareness since before The Apprentice was on the air.
iDrawStuff
10 years in politics, and being in the news cycle fucking *daily.*
bohjeenie
Everyone whoever watched celebrity apprentice has supported him financially.
So avoiding promoting his pop culture shit is also on the “support” list, not just voting.
SadToSay

Never watched his fucking tv show

If you did not support him when everyone around you was and you were vocal about it ... then, yes, you should be proud.

The ultimate vibe check : did you ever like this man.

He isn’t the main problem.

Yeah. I've come to the point that if you support that Nazi pedophile you're just as bad.

That’s like being proud of not shitting your bed.
BishlamekGurpgork
Yeah, it's not something I'm proud of, more like being disappointed that I'm a minority.
Mmbear
And yet thats the bar to pass at this point.
Erixxxx
Yet! Proud not shitting the bed yet.

Shitting my bed intentionally, or accidentally?

I mean I’d be pretty proud if I had never in my life shit the bed. This is more like being proud that you didn’t throw shit at a stranger

I don't think the post implied otherwise.
I didn't support him, and I'm not really proud of it, either. more like disappointed that I'm a minority.

To be honest... we were all infants and toddlers.

All the same, I refuse to move the bar all the way down to "didn't vote for Hitler 2"
