Had a triple earlier this year. I was terrified to the point of finding reasons to postpone. Good now but damn does it hurt to move after..

I had open heart about a month ago. Feeling pretty darn good. Do the stretches and move about. Get that phlegm out of ya! (to your dad)

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I’m so glad to hear it!!

My dad is a heart surgeon. It is extremely rare that someone dies under his knife, the only time it happens is when it is an emergency.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Heartening to hear, npi.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thanks dad for doing the awesome . Sincerely hearts everywhere!

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yus! Hurray for dad! Feel better soon!

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

Make sure he keeps a firm pillow or tightly rolled up towel to hug when he coughs or sneezes! My stepfather needed his or it would hurt bad.

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

That first sneeze was the worst!

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

5 months out and I still worry it's going to hurt

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What about the first poop?

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I got a bidet attachment for my toilet. Best. Thing. Ever!

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I’d like a warmed seat. Like a Japanese toilet.

My 3 week old had open heart surgery on Monday. He’s doing great now. During surgery was the worst.

I had 3 open heart surgeries before i turned 2. And 5 more spread out by age 18. The hard part is being strong, when family cant. Praying4U!

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Damn! I hope he continues to do GREAT and gets to running around so much you have to tell him to take a chill break!

7 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

I cant even imagine what it feels like to wait for that. Kudos to you for making a fighter!

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

He’s a fighter. He’s ahead of schedule and we may get to go home in the next week. We were life flighted twice. Just saw the bill. ?

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Mine had that two weeks before he died. Make sure he does exactly as the MD says. Mine didnt.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I’m so so sorry.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Its life. That was 10 years ago. It was rough but life goes on

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Life can be like barbed wire up the arse sometimes, though.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Legitimate question: aren't all heart surgeries open heart?

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Stent placements, catheterization, etc are placed by putting a guide wire through a major artery like your femoral artery up to your heart

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

There are also techniques for replacing heart valves through the groin. But they are newer and reserved for people who can’t have open heart

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No. But my father was happier that they didn't have to go through his groin. Cheers!

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

They went through mine just to have a look before surgery. But that was 2001.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They can put stents in (angioplasty) without going open heart. AFAIUI the open heart is better long run for serious blockages. 1/2

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

2/2 but has more risks and much longer recovery so they tent to go for the less invasive procedure if possible.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I did not know that.
