Did all this come as a complete surprise to Ukraine? I just wonder why they did not build up their military and supplies before? Just being neighbors with Russia should have been enough reason to worry about your defenses. Look at Poland. And have we all become too comfortable in the world?

It pisses me off beyond belief, how Germany, France, UK and the US, and to lesser extent the EU as a whole, still don't provide the weapons Ukraine *needs*. Also, the trade with Russia still hasn't fully seized. Had EU acted the way it should've done day one - closing each and every tap and supply line to Russia, while providing the equipment most direly needed by Ukraine (planes, tanks, bombs, state-of-the-art anti-tank systems) - the war would already be over.

The EU actively sabotages it. They had money reserved for shells, and could have ordered them outside- in SA or south korea. But did they? No.

UK support hasn't waned and hasn't had to contend with the same issues the EU have had with certain members or what the USA have with certain parties. Could it do more? Probably but you got to remember that England is about the same length as the entire frontline in Ukraine. It is not a large nation with the capacity for production that the US and EU have.

Also, the U.S. is drawing the line at long range missiles that would have the capability of going deep into Russia. They are leary of making it look like they are arming Ukraine to invade or attack Russia territory.
