Always the gallon never the frigate

One of the first things I favorited

EDIT: oh, most viral... that's quite unexpected. I'd say send bewbs but does that really happen?

Those Pirates have a water Camel!

Great now i have to go play civ

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I need to start playing against actual people

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In a serious note thats the repro of the French frigate Hermoine. At her time she was one of the most advanced combat vessels afloat.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thing about these old tall ships in service is they likely have more kills than their metal friends.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Damn somalian pirates.

Put a ship on auto-explore, forgot about it for 2000 years.

Nice touch removing the date. Easier reposts

North Korea showing off its impressive Naval strength

9 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

They can't build clipper ships silly

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

When you suddenly realize this is a 'Pay to Win' game and quit in disgust...

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And that fucker will still somehow do 30+ damage to your modern warship.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Solution is to have a swarm of two attack battleships. Nothing I have ever fought has survived

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Strangest game of Battleships ever

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

GET FUCKED NAPOLEON!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It would be amusing to see the damage caused by a broadside of 36 Large Cannon

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But if that's a British Ship of the Line with the right upgrades, it's still a bloody monster.

9 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 3

I'm a warmonger. It's survived long enough to have all the upgrades. It's not getting touched by anything shy of a nuke.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Now to drop the noob with CIWS, 5" gun, or Tomahawk... maybe send out one of the choppers?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

if that's the Constitution, then she could fight back as she's armed with a pair of 40mm cannons. not a lot, but enough to cause some havok.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Dunno if you can Tomahawk that close. Seems like a bad idea.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Good thing it's got a truly American amount of options

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Reminds me of all the times my battleship got it's ass impossibly kicked by a fucking caravel in Civ

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I know this is stupid, but it never occurred to me how much bigger modern warships are than old wooden ones.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

This looks like a frigate with about 30 guns, so there were bigger ship-of-the-lines. But yeah, they weren't that much longer, they were 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

mostly piling up additional decks. But the crew sizes of some of those line ships with 100+ guns..amazing. Some were carrying >1000 men. 2/2

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

For the curious: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ynd85xJ7PYU

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In civ 6 there is an achievement where you have to airlift a level 3 slinger. That is quite a long time to keep a slinger around for.

9 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 0

And a pain in the ass, as I wanted to upgrade them almost every turn.

9 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Haha yeh!

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

"you are the most beautiful ship in the world" , metal ship to wooden ship

9 years ago | Likes 45 Dislikes 2

I was going to post that little story.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That's the cutest thing America has ever done or said

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Our words are backed by nuclear weapons

9 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Calm down, Ghandi.

9 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

All you need to do is pass him nukes. I was not popular that game.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yet 1 veteran unit of musketeers can still take out every tank unit you send at it

9 years ago | Likes 225 Dislikes 2

not always: http://www.compoundeye.net/civ/epic03/29.jpg

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

He was a pikeman not a musketeer

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Just last week i had a level 120 soldier unit get destroyed by an artillery unit...level 40...

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

This was not funny nor entertaining....wasted my time opening that

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 23

That's what modding system is for. Use it, love it, no need for angry rants.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

9 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 3

It's got those defensive bonuses

On top of a hill, protected by a citadel, across a river.

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

9 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 0

I didn't know @OP had a team.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is why I always employ large numbers of bombers and artillery.

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Three range on artillery is the best, cities can't directly bombard you as you lay siege

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

i may or may not have sent a dozen artillery to surround a city with six hitting the city, the other six hitting enemy units once or twice.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Sometimes you just can't afford to upgrade all your units.

9 years ago | Likes 401 Dislikes 0

When you do, you put it towards something else.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

HONOR ALL THE WAY, SUCK IT BARBARIANS!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

or they're nowhere near friendly territory, and it just seems like too much hassle to sail them back to upgrade them, so you let it ride.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

That's why you have to build Leonardo's Workshop

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Damnit, I need more fucking iron!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Or you put it on auto-explore and forgot about it.

9 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

I forgot about an archer I set to auto explore and only realized it was there when my friend asked me what I was doing with it.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This was after I had gotten XCOM units in Civ V

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And sometimes fuck the navy. Civ somehow fails to capture the realities of history as having a great navy does not lead to super power.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The navy can be kinda OP in civ games in my experience.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've won plenty of games just off of having a great navy. You keep your cities near the shore and bombard anyone and everyone.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, I beat the aztecs by warring on their coastal cities to pull production away from the space program while my spies took it down.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If you play a match with lots of ocean and little resources and little habitable land, you will need a navy.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is it enough to say "duh"? I tend to play fractal or continents, so sure there is water, but the enemy does not have to be limited by me.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You have that one clippership you used to scout the seas with alongside your legion of laser-toting hoverbots

9 years ago | Likes 989 Dislikes 1

Your caravel still exploring as you move your nuclear submarines into position to rain death upon your enemies

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They've earned their right to endlessly roam the seas until they're picked off by barbarians.

9 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

If the Civ games taught me anything, it's that the clipper will wreck the destroyer half of the time.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I understand these as "words" but I have never seen them in this order.

9 years ago | Likes 65 Dislikes 3

Did they add more to the future era stuff in the newest one? I was always disappointed I couldnt go further into the future or space.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Not sure how long you've been around, but in the days of Civ 2 you were supposed to "pick up" in the future with Alpha Centauri.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I started in IV I think.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ah, I played 2-4, a tiny bit of 5, and basically moved on out of the genre.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well, the caravel also has one of best line-of-sight. I tend to keep them around for a long time

9 years ago | Likes 266 Dislikes 1

Carvel? Well shit I use to call them carnivals.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I used to call them home

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Think the destroyer with modern radar and sonar should have the best line of sight? Nah def the guy up in the crows nest with a mono-scope.

9 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

IIRC, the carrier does have the best line of sight. However, he said "one of (the) best", which is also true. Hooray, everyone's right today

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Plus it's hard to upgrade them when they never return to shore. I'd imagine the surprise on the faces of the scurvy-riddled renaissance /1

9 years ago | Likes 129 Dislikes 0

Sailors when they return to the city to find all the technologies and amenities they've missed out on in the last 1000 years at sea. /2

9 years ago | Likes 134 Dislikes 0

I would imagine it would be a bit like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G4Mwt0XIw00

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

well yea, I only use england, as ship warfare is my specalty

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

SCREW SPELLIING

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

That makes me sad. Everyone they know and loved would be long dead, their home and people near unrecognisable. :(

9 years ago | Likes 77 Dislikes 2

I was thinking generational ships of intrepid explorers

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Poor Noriko and Kazumi...

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Go and read "The Forever War" by Joe Haldeman, great book and it has a similar concept.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They would be dead as well, 1000 years.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

In theory, if they had the ability to live 1000 years their family and friends would too.

9 years ago | Likes 77 Dislikes 2

Wouldn't they be born on the ship?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The best thing is, when you attack barbarians with machine guns

9 years ago | Likes 158 Dislikes 2

Practically the war against ISIS.

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 5

More like the Anglo-Zulu War.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ah, a much better example.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And they still one hit your guys

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

And then suddenly find Antarctic barbarians with mobile missile-launching vehicles.

9 years ago | Likes 59 Dislikes 0

"Oh, guess I missed this one barb camp with spearmen in it..." 2 seconds later 200 tanks invade your peaceful city O_o

9 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

Just think of them as terrorists.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

But all I want to do is spread my cultural victory to the masses in a peaceful trade and tourism method ;_;

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah, they don't like that.
