A melanistic red fox, or cross fox. A melanistic fox has an excess of melanin resulting in a darker color. While there are many melanistic foxes, this particular shading is very rare.

That color variation is a "cross fox" because it looks like a cross on their back and face. Incomplete melanistic phase of red fox (Vulpes vulpes).

Looks like it either caught a particularly bloody evening sun just right, or someone's been "enhancing" the colours a fair bit, or both.

Little bit of both I think. Shadows look like the sun is almost down and shining right onto the brighter spots, but pretty sure someone turned the saturation to 11.

The shot is under exposed, irised down on purpose, which enhances the black gamma, and also makes color pop. (I’ve been a professional photographer since before the 1st iPhone came out)
