"I'm sorry your mama didn't raise you right and I'm sorry I didn't some you instead."

I am proud of Kelce and this action!

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fan???

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Sounds like he should be proud.

1 year ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

He should only be sorry that he repeated the slur back. The rest of his action was more than justified, and I’m glad he did it

1 year ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Watching his apology last night made me so sick. I can't believe this is what our country and has become - the man was defending his brother. The man was being harassed. He should've broke the guys phone and his face.

1 year ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

Has the fan apologised for the homophobic slur they said?
No, I didn;t think so. Only the victim gets backlash for their reaction to an obscene statement.r

1 year ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 0

It’s because it was reported he used the slur back at the person.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The fact that Kelce feels like he needs to apologize to a cretin tells me how fucked up our society has gotten.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I hate when the same exact information is in all parts of the post

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Man’s brother is dating who is considered one of the most beautiful women in the country. This idiot was yelling “Hey! Why is Travis being a fa**ot and dating Taylor Swift?” or something similar. Not only was the reaction justified for dealing with a bigot, but the dude’s insult didn’t even make sense.

1 year ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

That fan should be lucky that all they got, a broken phone.

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

He smashed the Phone not the Face. He should be proud of himself. The Phone is pocket Money. The public fallout minimal. In Germany we have the explizit a Court rule of 2 seconds after you have been attacked or verbally provoked that will lessen any sentence. For an Affect-Action this was very good. Pay the Phone Apologize and lawyer up to sue this asshole up for public insult.

1 year ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 1

It was but here we worship private property as though it were inviolable above life itself.

1 year ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Honestly, not a great scenario. Kelce has the obligation as a public figure to have a bit thicker skin, but honestly, I can't say I wouldn't have done the same thing if someone was talking shit about my sibling. IMO the slur is the only thing that I think he has any remote obligation to apologize for, but even then, he was responding to its use in kind. He didn't just pull "f****t" from the ether.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Remember, kids: Freedom of speech is not freedom from consequences of that speech! Spike away, my man.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Poking the bear...., it could have turned out worse

1 year ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

No need for apologies I just wish he would have threw it over a building instead of spiking

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Dude, dont apologize. Break his replacement phone too!

1 year ago | Likes 308 Dislikes 4

And wreck his marriage. And job. And castigate him from his family.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Just kill the asshole and be done with it.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Probably apologizing because he returned fire with the slur, some members of the gay community have given him a pass and said given the context the word was used appropriately by Kelcie.

1 year ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 3

Yep, I’d be one of those. Sometimes in the heat of the moment things come out wrong. He was being relentlessly harassed and hounded, lost his cool.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The ol I'm-rubber-you're-glue

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I think he also uses the slur back at the person - that’s the part he’s especially not proud of.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Apparently everyone parroting the same thing but he apologized for escalating it. It’s OK to be sorry and the other person to be wrong still.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If he used a homophobic slur, he is not a fan.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This is whats so awful about our world. Conservative nazis can shout the most cruel abusive shit and everyone is just supposed to sit there and take it. But if a non-conservative defends themself in anyway its OH WOA HEY CALM DOWN YOU CROSSED THE LINE

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

What a load of bullshit. Kelce shouldn’t have apologized. ESPN should be ashamed.

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

He didn't need to - it was completely understandable & justified. The perp intentionally provoked him and, frankly, warranted a punch in the nose.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ya, but then Kelce would have to cut a $100,000 check and do some public service.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

sorry, whats "spiking a phone"? i even googled it

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Think "hulk smash" by means of throwing said phone at the ground at maximum achievable velocity.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

To spike a football is to throw it at the ground really fast to stop the clock. He did this with the phone instead and as it’s not a leather bag filled with air, it doesn’t bounce back like a football does. It shatters. :)

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Well, the clock on his phone definitely stopped.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

thanks

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That guy hounding him was a prick. This is why I'd hate to be famous. Even when you stand up for yourself, you need to apologize. Fuck that!

1 year ago | Likes 598 Dislikes 5

That's why so many athletes wear headphones on their way into the stadiums. People will try to provoke you and get under your skin, and sometimes even if you don't show it it gets to you. Anger ruins your focus. The adrenaline response makes your hands shake. You won't play the same as when you were in practice. It doesn't matter what you do, people will try to tear you down to make themselves feel better. The bigger you are, the more criticism you will face.

1 year ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

He is a bigger person and can bear the weight of emotions equally well to a line

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You don't have to do anything. If you are wealthy and popular you don't have to play by their rules. He could've just went up on stage and told the guy to go get fucked, but the guy probably still relies on contracts.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

no you could just double down and say fuck them.

1 year ago | Likes 62 Dislikes 3

He should. I think a lot of people would say - yeah he was goading you and looking for a payday / 15 minutes

1 year ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

He should, but he's probably doing what his lawyers told him to do. Doubling down would mean you have to pay them more when they sue you. If I had NFL player money I'd still double down anyway.

1 year ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Have independent contractor bodyguards (young, so they've got no assets in their name) and make sure the connection between them and you is impossible to trace. This is essentially what Charles Barkley did for many years and he's even bigger than Kelcee.

1 year ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

Mnah, ya shouldnt be able to do this, this can by abused to easily.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The abuse comes from the little dirtbags. Jason Kelce would have easily gone the rest of his life without ever picking a fight with the dirtbag with the cellphone.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hate speech isn’t protected. The fighting words clause exists.

1 year ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 6

Fighting words case law and legislation varies by state. Bo we'd have to look at where this occurred. But I'd wager it's moot point because I doubt he's apologizing for legal reasons. I think it's more about maintaining his image so he can keep those fat endorsement checks coming.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Hate speech is protected, actually. You can't express a direct call to violence, but you can use homophobic slurs, at least from a legal standpoint. Also fighting words doesn't mean the person assaulting you gets off, it just means that you can be arrested and the First Amendment doesn't protect you. It can, however, downgrade the assault to a lesser charge and be factored into your sentencing.

1 year ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Why talk shit to a big ass NFL player? You know they work out, you know they have friends, you know they have attorneys, you know they have money to pay for attorneys and fines

1 year ago | Likes 223 Dislikes 3

He's filming content. Worst case scenario: he gets to "own" a big ass NFL player. Best case scenario: he gets some manners punched into him and he gets to sue / press charges against a big ass NFL player.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

because they know they can then play victim, "he attacked me and destroyed my property and I did nothing wrong!!!|

1 year ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

A lot of people have never experienced consequences for harassing someone. Kid probably felt safe because Kelce is famous, and there were tons of people around, but once he got his phone snatched you can bet his whole body clenched up and he’ll remember the fear for a long time.

1 year ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

And he's a Philly player

1 year ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Are ... are the NFL players with big asses more dangerous or something

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

according to Sandra Bullock they're the one's you want protecting your blindside.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Jason Kelce is really hitting the endorsement trail in his retirement. And I'm cool with it. He seems a nice dude! This story just makes him sound even better.

1 year ago | Likes 126 Dislikes 3

Endorsement? You talking politics? Gawd, let’s leave celebrities out of politics and leave it to people who actually have dedicated service to serving the will of the people

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 88

You know words have meaning outside of politics, right? Fuckin' A! Context matters people!

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don't want celebrities running for offices that they are wildly unqualified for. But I'm all for them giving their support to candidates.

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Endorsement as in commercial endorsements my dude. Unless Campbells chunky soup is running for prez.

1 year ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 0

... So. Traumatic election season eh?

1 year ago | Likes 42 Dislikes 1

How many modern politicians are that? And not only there coz of wanting to be in a position of power? And will of the people? Like the few ppl that own politicians?

I would say ppl that are not political broilers (ppl that have never worked as anything else than a politician) are much more connected to real world of an avg Joe, which a lot of political ppl haven't ever been in touch with.

1 year ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Bruh, one of the candidates is a low-level celebrity.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

He's "endorsing" anti-homophobic slurs. We only think it's political because we know which candidate doesn't want that happening

1 year ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

Not all endorsements are political. It's actually used to give your support to players to keep playing the sport. Like hypothetically, Pepsi can endorse a football star by filming a commercial with them, as an example. It's a twisty sort of deal when they have said football player endorse their product with those commercials.
I think you should vote quickly and then hide under a a rock till Thurseday. It may be good for your nerves.

1 year ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

Thats how it should work, but unfortunately, a lot of how things should work / be, isnt how things are in the US, they have a backwards as fuck political culture unfortunately

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Friendly reminder that real life is not Twitter. Talk shit get hit is a rule that is consistently in effect. Calling random people slurs irl can and often does lead to a punch in the face. Especially when you say it to football giants who hit people and get hit by equally giant people for a living.

1 year ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

The world was better off when conservatives didn't have access to the internet.

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Not at all true. Many of them learned and grew and became better people with access to the internet.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Being an asshole is a non-partisan issue my guy. It’s just that there’s different kinds of asshole. Though being a conservative does increase the likelihood of that person using a slur :p

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

they always did though. There's some vile stuff in the early days of message boards. And before that it was AM radio. And before that it was tabloids.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah but why apologize?

1 year ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 4

Keeping up appearances ... he is not sorry. Rightfully so.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

To lower the amount he'll have to pay them in court, likely.

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Because he's a good guy and even if you're mean to a cunt it still feels bad that you had to do it

1 year ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 1

Yeah but why answering a rhetorical question?

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

What does it mean to "spike a cellphone" in this context? Like, did he put an actual spike through it, like a spear or something? Why did he have a spear?

1 year ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 3

It's when you put roofies in them.

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

1 year ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Similar to "spiking a volleyball". He made it go very quickly into the ground.

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Glad you followed up with that second part, or I would still have no clue about spiking lol

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

To spike a football (or phone) is to chuck it at the ground as hard and fast as you can.

In football it stops the clock giving you a few extra seconds to get set before the game time runs out.

With cellphones, the clock can also be stopped, and the display and all the other internals. Cellphones don’t like to hit the ground at speed.

1 year ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 1

"Cellphones don’t like to hit the ground at speed."

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

lol thanks for explaining - I would have never guessed that on my own!

1 year ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

My brain is catching up. It’s actually more of a volleyball thing. When you see them jump high near the net and wack the ball towards the ground quickly.

The football thing stopping the clock is just putting your knee on the ground. Sorry to lead you astray.

1 year ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

No worries, I get the picture :-)

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

You were actually correct the first time. Kneeling doesn't stop the clock, that's what they do when they want to run out the clock without running an actual play. Spiking is throwing it directly at the ground for what is technically an incomplete pass so the clock stops, usually so they have more time to set up the next play without a timeout. There's also times when a player will spike the ball in celebration after a touchdown or big play.
