Poor fish are terrified. I know they're just fish, but still makes me feel bad.
Don't get me wrong, I love eating meat and animal products, I'm just pretty damn anal about the animals being dispatched humanely, painlessly, and without fear.
Ah, but don't you realize that as the other fish get eaten it leaves more room and resources for the ones left. The duck is doing them a great service and the ones eaten obviously deserved it. In fact, the fish should pick out groups of other fish specifically to feed to the duck as that will surely endear the duck to them and grant them larger rewards! /s
Huh. Yknow I'm sure this is good for the duck - I've got reptiles and live insects are better for them in a few ways but like...to see the ferocity of a duck eating peas, but instead of peas it's live fish...oof.
Both I would imagine. I'd shit my pants if I were one of those fish. And had pants to shit. Which they don't, so that explains the poop being in the water.
Because it is considered cruel enough to not be shown on network television and films, that's why... filming an animal feeding on another deliberately *trapped* live animal is indeed considered cruel...
As it does not occur naturally in the wild, unless there are fish trapped in ice or some such, but deliberately placing and filming a live animal to be killed/eaten by another cannot be shown in film and most network television, save for documentaries due to its *obvious* cruel nature.
Indeed, as this is actually pretty horrific as it could not be shown on a lot of broadcast television and film across the globe due to its obviously cruel nature...
I'm pretty sure they normally rarely do. Not because they don't like fish; fish are just way harder to catch than plants (which apparently make up 2/3rd of their diet), insects, crustaceans, snails, worms, etc. or even small tetrapods like frogs.
Don't feel too bad. I went to school for 28 years, have multiple advanced degrees and countless accolades and I had no idea either. We are one of the 10,000 today.
Birds are all typically Carnivores, most of them eat bugs(not hummingbirds though), however one of the more uniquely avian traits is that they can typically digest bones and other carnivores can't.
HiveMindGuy
Haha yeah, fuck those fish!
coastercrazypics
It amazes me how much animals eat. I personally wouldn't be able to eat as much as that duck did. And I am fat!

Man alive. All those scales floating around by the end. Carnage.
Also, why do so many people have pet ducks now??

Like shooting fish in a barrel. Squid Game is off the hook this season. One question though, did the duck puke afterwards?

I feel bad for the fish. Deliberately put in a cage just to be eaten alive with no chance of escape.
FentuckyCriedKhicken
Imagine the cube and water as our economy and markets, we are the fishes and the 1 percent billionaires is the duck.

Mostly scales.

What a way to go - digested alive inside a duck.
I didn’t even know ducks ate fish
GOAE
Not really digested alive, they suffocate first. If that's any consolation.

It… might be
MissIWasntItching
It is not.

I mean with the amount of water ducky swallowed along with the fish - would they?

whoever is the owner of this duck is fucked up in the head or just ignorant

Why?

Yes why? I mean it's a bit macabre if you look at it from the fish perspective.

I….. never even realized they ate fish. How am I this dumb?

Just about every animal that exists will eat meat, The "herbivores" will eat meat if given the opportunity, they just aren't equipped to catch it very often. This is a good example https://gizmodo.com/field-cameras-catch-deer-eating-birds-wait-why-do-deer-1689440870

MoopsyLD
Yeah, fish is like a 5 course meal at a fancy restaraunt to them. unless its dumb fish.
BoobJiggle
Many/most herbivores will eat meat if the opportunity presents itself.
I've seen goats eat gophers and snakes, I've even seen a cow eating a fox. And the horses where I grew up would regularly trample and eat snakes.
unencumberedbythethoughtprocess
I never realized they wear gold chains
PeteyVonWho
I knew they were omnivores, because they eat bugs and stuff. Never clicked that that would also eat fish.
Also, that was a lot of fish...
