The. There's people like me. All coffee taste the same no matter what and I hate it

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I feel attacked

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Instant ftw

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Percolated.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Grind my own beans and use a French press. I'll swear on the difference. By the way, coffee snobs unite! What's your brand?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I think the biggest game changer is upping the quality of water you use.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I prefer the gas station coffee that's been sitting there all day at the end of the night. Fresh coffee doesn't give the full flavor

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Since we we have been working from home started using pour over with freshly ground beans. It tastes so much better than drip

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

i chuckled at this meme cuz my pour-over pals. I enjoy pour over but I'm addicted to the warm-up. gotta have drip or perc for that.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

i am all about the fresh ground beans tho. I think that makes the most difference because i get the cheap beans too.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Why do I feel personally attacked

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I make swedish egg Coffee every morning. I am in this photo.

Check out Faberware FCP412. Best percolator - great coffee and still easy.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So we're just not gonna talk about the lady in the back holding a.... whatever that is?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Everything is better when you turn it into a cult ritual.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It does taste better (seriously, try it) BUT most people drown their coffee in creamer at which point it no longer really matters.

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

I like heavy cream in mine, so to counter I add more grounds to make it stronger.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Some ways do taste better. Same reason I grill a steak instead of microwaving. It takes longer and more work, but it tastes better.

5 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

yeah but I don't grill a steak every day, whereas I drink coffee everyday

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Even every day, the time commitment from using ground coffee and grinding coffee is what? Like 20 seconds?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sometimes it's 100% more work for 1% better product, at some point the gains just aren't worth the effort.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Apparently coffee partially digested by a civet, some kind of Asian cat is the best. French press or oat milk latte works for me though

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

There are major animal welfare concerns over Kopi Luwak though - the increased demand has apparently lead to some "battery farm" conditions.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Omg, the chai oat milk latte from Dunkin’ has changed my life haha!

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ah yes, kopi luwak. The coffee everyone recognizes, but no one wants to try despite being curious about the supposed high quality.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

it's good. about a factor 50 too expensive.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ehhhh, best is questionable. Most expensive, certainly, but most of it is just mass farmed crap for tourists.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

There was a similar blend you could find at BAKE in Phuket, except the coffee beans were digested by an elephant.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Instant coffee is better

Controversial opinion: Hey, sure, if you think so. Enjoy your stuff, I'll enjoy mine.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Get one of these. Super simple to use and tastes awesome.

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

I have a good one similar to that, my brand is Bialetti. Basically makes espresso.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Love, love, love bialetti

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If you buy one, pay attention to it!! I've burned the handle off when it bubbled over...

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I’ve got a six cup one and use it for a mug in the morning. Anything else now just tastes thin.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

you're basically drinking 6 shots of espresso.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I didn’t realise until a friend pointed it out. It’s just how I like my coffee, but only first thing in the morning.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

i did that for a week but i needed to dial it back.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Those fucking things are capable of making absolute jet fuel as well. If you want a lot of caffeine, these are the best.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Big coffee dont want you to know.

5 years ago | Likes 59 Dislikes 2

Cofefe

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

But we know__we know!

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Big coffee? Venti coffee!

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As someone who can't make a good cup of coffee, any cup made by someone else tastes great.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

We started making cold brew once a week and adding hot water to it. Perfect cup of joe every single time and it's super fast and easy to do

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Also a fan of my cold brew. Smoothest cup of coffee ever and so easy to make.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I make it at the start of a vacation. Keep a jug of concentrate in the fridge. It tastes so so different. Love the stuff.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It do be like that tho, after a point one does have to wonder how much of the benefit is psychological though.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

i feel once you get a cloth filter, you've crossed a line

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

almost all coffee is ok, but it goes from "i want to finish this sour piece of shit as fast as possible" to "How fast can I get a refill"

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

For me, coffee is a pleasant morning routine to start the day.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Totally I tend to drink loose-leaf tea and aside from how much nicer it tastes, the ritual of making it is a nice calming exercise to me.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

sound on

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I own five or six different types of coffee makers and am not ashamed of it. Chemex is best. Drip for workdays.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I can't seriously go back to drip, moka, press or espresso are my go to choices even if I have to get up earlier for the ritual

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We just like drip for going to work. Also makes the other types feel a little more specifical.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wait, you brew ChexMix? I might have to re-evaluate my complete boycott of coffee.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Getting the correct rye-chip-ratio makes all the difference!

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I had 5 as well before selling my cheap espresso machine,

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Current favorite - Moka Pot

5 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

I love my moka pot!

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Best compromise in my opinion. Pretty good coffee, not too complicated to operate, and much less waste than capsules or filters.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Aeropress is pretty simple and zero waste with a metal filter.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not gonna argue that, I just like using Mokka pots more, probably a habit thing too, have been making my coffee like that for 10 years now.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah, coffee routines are definitely a thing. I

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I bought one but did not realize it would be so small, doesn't even make half a fkn cup. Useless piece of junk. Shoulda sent it back.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

moka pots basically make espresso shots. add hot water to make an americano.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Bummer. Swap it for a bigger one. They come in different sizes.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Quite; 1-2 rounds of that and I can feel my face in front of my face. Not a big CFE drinker so the "hassle" for a good cup is negligible.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Try DeathWish coffee, if you want to feel your face in front of the face in front of your face :)

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Try devil mountain, it's like twice as strong, I thought deathwish was intense till finding it, full blown crackhead energy lol

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Damn, son. Do you snort it?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Haven't tried that but one cup is plenty for an entire day, every drink is pretty much a normal cup of coffee

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Good coffee is mostly just using fresh beans. Better is grinding the beans to order, not days/weeks before. They go stale pretty fast.

5 years ago | Likes 274 Dislikes 4

Can confirm. Bought a bean to cup machine a while back. Fresh grind makes all the difference.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Storage too, freeze beans and refrigerate grounds.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 4

I can't believe how many people don't grind their own...A simple burr grinder is cheap, easy to use, and it tastes WAY better.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Water, too. Folks will brew with tap water and wonder why it tastes like shit. Coffee is 90% water, use filtered.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Plus way less roaches in the coffee when you grind it yourself

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

That's all I need is to make it more inconvenient. I drink it black as it is and I can tell you certain brands are bad.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My wife gave up coffee b/c she started to dislike the taste. Since I was the only one drinking I switched to a french press w/preground 1/?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

& then I decided to try fresh ground & bought a grinder. I really liked it, gave the wife a sip & she asked why did it taste to good 2/?

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I told her & she got really upset & said "Why did you wait so long to try this? I want coffee every morning too!" 3/3

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

If you wanna get really pretentious about it, buy a countertop roaster and get fresh beans.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

within 30mins of grinding.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes, and you have to grind them correctly for the task. Not too fine for press coffee. I am not sure roasting yourself is worth it.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Everything would smell of coffee including your underwear

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have a small roaster, but I don't really taste much difference and it's probably not as even as the mammoth commercial roasters.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Beans oxidize much faster after grinding and, though, you do want some of the gasses to release, too much gas loss changes flavor & aroma.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And letting it steep. I think saw a video on grind size and basically just don't go to thick or thin.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

French press is very coarse, about as coarse as you can get. Turkish coffee is extremely fine.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That depends entirely on the kind of coffee you're making, and in truth, different blends will have different optimal grind sizes.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hand pour for the win IMO

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, I have a hand grinder and coffee is def better but very inconvenient.

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

For me BETTER water was far more important than "better beans"

5 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

We do the Eritrean coffee ceremony almost everyday in my house. Just leaving tap water out on the counter and letting the chlorine out helps

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

Bring it to "not quite" a boil. Leaves some dissolved oxygen. Tastes better.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Coffee make me feel ill. Give me tea, baby!

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

“Tea is horrible. Absolute garbage water, I don’t know why y’all do that.” -ted lasso

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You are probably drinking too much of it for your tolerance level.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Coffee doesn't agree with me, I just take caffeine tablets with the equivalent caffeine dose and don't get any of the nausea.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Same here, caffeine pills revolutionized my day.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I love tea.. Made properly, with a pot and loose leaf. It's pretty great.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have made coffee with tea, and I have made tea with coffee. ....I wouldn't recommend either, honestly.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Funny, I get nauseated by tea these days. Had to switch to coffee.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Eat a lil' something with it. Helps a bunch.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The coffee does taste better but it's like wine or whiskey where a lot of people don't drink enough variety to notice the difference.

5 years ago | Likes 915 Dislikes 27

Not really

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Hard agree.....coffee walkers, wine wakers, beer wankers have spent the time and money to be wankers. Its a well earned title

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Aye, I never cared until I bought a cafetiere and fresh beans, now instant tastes like burnt mud and cigarette ends.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Drink more, got it.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Also you can trick your brain into liking something more if you think you're gonna like it more.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I hated coffee till i tried some Good shit. Not i drink must coffees

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

You may need another cup this morning.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Found him

5 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 2

Who?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This guy

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh. I found you

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The best is Vinacafe, this Vietnamese instant coffee with creamer and sugar in the packet. Tastes like cheap diner coffee, my favorite.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yep, I LOVE turkish coffee but I will never make it myself.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I am someone who dislikes coffee and Turkish coffee is AMAZING. My husband will only make it once in a blue moon though..

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I refuse to develop a palette for beer and most liquors because I know I’d go unhealthy with it.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Or care

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Would agree. Freshly ground coffee for French press, mocha, or espresso taste better than out of the can American Drip. Just need the time.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I’d argue that the difference here is hard to miss. It’s genuinely Naturally sweeter and less acidic using those things

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I notice the taste between pre-ground and not, but I can just as easily drink shitty gas station coffee and not complain.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

coffee is precious and when you coddle it, it gives your life meaning. Or anxiety, both are swell. Also why I poop.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Or don't give a shit, it's not for taste its for caffeine

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's why I buy devil mountain coffee, has over 1100mg of caffeine in a cup

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also if the beans are burnt or water is too hot that will drastically change the flavour...

5 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 2

If a majority of people won't notice how drastic can it be?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Most people think a steak is a steak. Even a bit over cooked. Overcook it too much and anyone will notice. Steak lovers can tell by touch.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If only a very small percentage of people would notice I'd say by definition it's not a "drastic" change.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What I’m getting at, is it’s subjective.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So... you end up with Starbucks for a fraction of the price?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I've heard of the issue with beans, but not water. How hot is too hot for the water?

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I was in a taste test for coffee, 5 different flavours. all coffee was durnt due to hot water. all tasted disgusting. 10/10 people agreed

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

All about extraction, look up James Hoffman on YouTube

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Over boiling really, you want it around 90⁰C

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

When I drink coffee to get work done, so it's either an espresso or American black. When I want it to taste good, I drink tea.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I fucking hate coffee and you cant get me to like it. I will Stockholm syndrome myself into drinking it if I need to but I know its shit.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I like sweets. Coffee is bitter bullshit and I hate it. Idc about cream or sugar in it, it still tastes like shit. Fuck it and fuck you if

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

You try to convince me otherwise. I like whiskey and mead. Sweet or sour (preferably sweet). Green tea mead my friend's family makes is my

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Absolute favorite. If I can find any big brand I'll try it

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

How about a cold brew tower?

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That should be noticably to everyone

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hard to hide those yes

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Coffee tastes better when I can chew it

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

yeah , if i drank 20k$ wine i would not able to taste diffrance from 20$ one , tried quite a lot various beans>

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

for our coffiee machine and even same type of coffiee from diffrent brand but supposed to be "same bean and type" can have diffrent taste>

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

even by big margin , interesting tastes comes up if you also mix 2 different beans together

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Basically. Evertime i see blind taste test by experts and ley folk, its the cheapest or middle road ones that gets the pass.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I dont drink alcohol or coffee for their taste. I drink one to get shitfaced and other to wake up. It can taste like chalk for all I care.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I tried all the brands of classic flavor cappuccino before deciding one the one I use now, I've used it without regret for 6 or 7 years now

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I know ebout about coffee to know that starbucks is glorified mud. Get that shit out of Malta heathen >:(

5 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 8

Went to Seattle a couple years ago. Saw people waiting in a line that went like 3 blocks.. to get Starbucks from the first Starbucks.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Starbucks and Costa tastes awful once you get used to higher quality stuff.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

Costa had a special blend..can't remember the name but you ask for it specifically.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh like the time wine experts was tricked into thinking cheap wine was expensive wine

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Or whiskey or vodka or food.....

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The only difference it makes to me is freshly ground beans vs. prepackaged ground coffee.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I don't really think people drink coffee for physical health reasons...

5 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 4

Coffee helps me not to throw the computer to through peoples heads; that’s a really good health reason

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

with the amount of milk and sugar i see ppl add. It's more like sweetened milk with a shot of coffee

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I love espresso for its dark/bitter flavors, as well as what most don’t notice. Oh, and the aroma! Sometimes, I just want sugar & milk in it

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh i didnt mean espresso. I ment a half cup of milk and sugar with a shot of coffee is what i see americans primarily drink. 1 part caffine

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

2/,2 parts sugar and mainly some type of milk.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I drink coffee because it's the only thing that keeps me awake every day. I'm pretty sure I'll die if I stop.

5 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 1

I think it's that others will die if I stop drinking it for me. I need some type of legal drug to deal with people.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Right? I pretty much exist on caffeine and spite.

5 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

I gave it up about 3 years ago and feel a lot better, don't get afternoon crashes or weekend headaches. Really miss the taste though

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I accidentally forgot to drink for a day and had VERY intense migraines that very evening...which subsided the moment I took a sip of coffee

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Caffeine addiction sucks. Take a tolerance break once in awhile and you'll see.

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Aren't they still arguing about whether caffeine is good or bad? I have a symbiotic relationship with Yorkshire Tea.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

You know it comes from India, right?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Found a Spiffing Brit follower

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Not a bad idea. I have found that I don't need my moring coffee if I do a few lines instead.

5 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 0

I'd be onboard with this if coke didn't cost so damn much. XD

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I got a subscription box that sends me a trio of small batch coffee each month. Best way I've found to develop my palette, which I enjoy

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Or maybe it’s a placebo effect misconcieved by the logical fallacy: “more effort means more reward”?

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 5

Another popular fallacy: "since it's not something I've personally experienced, it can't be possible"

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Could be. That's why people REALLY into coffee do blind taste tests called "cuppings".

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have an old Silex vacuum pot from back in the 1950's, it tastes different. It's also fuckin neato to watch, and won't burn the coffee.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I can happily drink an espresso. Freeze dried tastes like shit though.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Am acquired taste is the Stockholm syndrome of food and drink.

5 years ago | Likes 52 Dislikes 5

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

kinda? but only if its a truly bad thing and you just learn to deal with the suck. for instance, i hate "hot" food, even the "bite" of 1/

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

How in the hell is black pepper even remotely spicy

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 4

2/2 black pepper...but, black pepper isnt "bad" flavour...i just didnt like it(cuz it was "pepper") and had to "aquire" a liking for it.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

I don’t like black pepper either. Unless, it’s on an over-medium fried egg.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

yall are white arnt ya?

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Really, it's not. Which is why wine experts can make stupendously accurate guesses when tasting blindly, among other things.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

That doesn't necessarily have anything to with how much you like it

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Discernment (taste) is not identical to enjoyment I may taste a diff between blue box & $50 mac n cheese. I can enjoy each for what they are

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Sure, but thats not what "aquired taste" means. It means something you've learned to like

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I just stopped giving a fuck. I'm at the point I just pour instant in my mouth and drink water

5 years ago | Likes 168 Dislikes 3

That's what I did with my coffee from MREs

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

like a boss

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is the way.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Why water it down?

5 years ago | Likes 71 Dislikes 0

The instant sticks to my teeth.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

i drink the water the evening before, its a connoisseur thing

5 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 0

As is tradition.

5 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

I forgot to put sugar in my coffee the other day and I decided to drink it anyway. I just couldn't be bothered to get up and get it.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sometimes I just chew beans.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Dark chocolate coated coffee beans are available at bulk barn. Got me through exam week in college.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Bulk barn?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just snort coffee crystals.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Coffee Instant Type II - the best instant coffee in a ration. Now let's get this out into a tray.

5 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

thanks steve :)

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Nice

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Mmkay

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'll be comin' back atcha with something new...or old! Alright, cool

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Definitely tastes better in my french press compared to the shitty drip makers.

5 years ago | Likes 381 Dislikes 31

Started cold-brewing last year and Im never going back. It's infinitely better than drip

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also worse for your heart https://www.today.com/health/what-healthiest-way-brew-coffee-t180152 but I still occasionally partake.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

AeroPress is the way

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But tastes even better in good drip makers

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No contest. Anybody who disagrees is dead wrong.

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 6

My cat knocked my french press off the counter and it shattered :(

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Berres Brothers dark chocolate cherry in my press made me throw away my dripper. The difference in flavor was insane

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

that's a nah from me. French Press dissolves too much of the bitterness. Gives the coffee a note that I really don't like.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

How about compared to good drip makers?

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Dr pepper tastes better than any coffee

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Carbonated prune juice? Suuuuure it does. And I ain't even a fan of coffee.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Found him

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

I can also easily make one cup if I want to.

Yup! We got a boiling water tap in our kitchen so it takes even less time than a drip maker. SOOO win win

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

French press. Super. Simple. Stuff. No paper filters. No plastic parts that are hard to clean. Tempered glass and stainless steel. Fuck yeah

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

oh and it makes super tasty coffee. 5 scoops, 94 Celcius, 4 minutes, no stir, slow press (This is my current practice).

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

If you've never tried it, try James Hoffman's technique on YouTube.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I like to use the lab hot plates and scales for my press on night shift. Precision coffee is stupid fun.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

A Chemex and a Kone will brew press-like when you want a less filtered cup. Nice to have both options.

Looks like sand, brews like green tea, and has zero acidic bite. Oh, and it contains twice as much caffeine! It’s a PNW thing.

i wonder what other things tastes better when passed though gerard depardieu's buttcheeks

5 years ago | Likes 40 Dislikes 2

sheet?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

When you say passed through, do you mean plunged or swiped?

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Yes.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I've made some super-nice cold brew with Lebanese cardamom coffee — it was so strong you could taste the slightly metallic tang of caffeine.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

French has a higher content of compounds caught in the filter cafestol among them. Cafestol is linked to increased risk for hearth issues.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Turns out French press coffee is worse for your heart though. :< A shame, 'ause it absolutely tastes better.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

French press is the way for coffee and loose leaf tea

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Even among drip machines there's a HUGE difference between dinky, shitty ones & those that hold proper water temp & shower spray pattern.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Your French press is probably just cleaner than drip coffee makers. Most people rarely clean their regular coffee makers.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Don't you dare to insult my Moccamaster.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I rather drink from my Moccamaster than any cappuccino or some other fancy stuff I've ever tasted.

'Observational study' May as well say it's 'coincidental' Literally says nothing about their other habits that would contribute heavily.

5 years ago | Likes 54 Dislikes 3

An observational study that relies on self-reported data, no less.

5 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

The study is linked from the article, try reading it. (Spoiler: the study considers their other habits/confounding factors)

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

Y’know, what with everything else in the world gone to shit, kinda don’t care if coffee is what does me in. Might as well.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You guys. The post is about you guys.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The flavor of the oil that gets filtered out of drip makers truly makes a difference. It adds a fruity/floral flavor!

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I got a press for camping and use a drip daily. There is zero difference in taste using the same coffee and the press is less convenient.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

And before I'm downvoted for an opinion, I'd love to hear how it could possibly taste different when the result is the same: bean water.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

https://youtu.be/st571DYYTR8 try this way if you haven't before. Drastically changes the taste.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I bet myself on what that video was going to be! Spot on

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I will try this!

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not sure why more people don’t do it. It’s not any more effort than a drip machine, no filters to replace and certainly no shitty k cups.

5 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 2

I found one at air bnb, ten minutes to make one cup.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I read that press coffee is higher in cafestol, which can raise your bad cholesterol. So I only press on the weekend now. Paper absorbs it.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But paper filtered coffee seems flavorless to me compared to the press.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have one, but rarely use it because it doesn't make as many cups as the regular drip coffee machine.

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I have a bigger French press for days I want more than 1 cup.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My drip makes a whole lot of coffee that my wife and I can use throughout the morning. Press makes like two cups. Inefficient.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Gold filters mean no paper filters to throw away, and it takes exactly the same amount of time to clean.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's a pain in the ass to clean

5 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 2

its just pour water in it, shake it, wash the filter and its fine. if you think about it, you rarely wash a filter machine

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I use it daily and it‘s as easy to clean as a mug.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Clever dripper or any variant of it with a metal filter give similar tasting coffee, but are way easier to clean up.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It’s not the grounds cleanup with drippers that bothers me. It’s the biofilm buildup in the nooks and crannies of the machine.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Clever dripper is simpler. It's just the filter holder part with a valve at the bottom that opens when lowered on top of a cup.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not really. Dump out the grounds, boil water in the electric kettle, let it sit in the French press for 30 seconds, dump water, rinse.

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 3

That's hell of a lot more hassle than just throwing the filter away.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Do you not clean your coffee pot ever? There's more to it than just throwing away a filter.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

About once every week or two soak in vinegar for a deep clean.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

I use alittle bleach in my dishwater. Gets rid of the tannins easily.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I dump grounds in trash, still about 20% stuck in carafe, rinse and pour into trash for leaky trash, rinse and pour into sink for clog.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

French press high five!

My AeroPress was too much hassle so I bought a bean to cup espresso machine instead. The coffee isn't as good, but I'm happier with it.

5 years ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 4

I used to just crunch down tablespoons of dry instant when I didn't have time to actually make it. I dont have coffee for the taste.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I LOVE AEROPRESS!!

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I once worked in a hotel kitchen where the hot tap was drinkable and 82c. aeropress... on tap. I hated the job but loved the endless coffee

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Morning coffee is always about the balance between quality & the level of effort my foggy, pre-coffee brain is willing to exert.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I bought a super-expensive bean to cup machine, makes a flat white with one button-press. Tastes fucking amazing.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

what brand?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Why isn't the coffee good?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Still good, just not as good as the AeroPress. Probably a combination of the less consistent grind and few minutes brew time with... 1/2

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

AeroPress versus ~30 second extraction period with the bean to cup machine. The machine's coffee is still very drinkable for me though. 2/2

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And presumably a lot easier. After a year working at home I really wish I'd invested in a bean to cup machine early on.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah, I'd say it's definitely worth taking a look at getting one.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is it one of those super automatic machines? What brand? I’m considering one out of the laziness

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah, it does everything automagically. The one I've got is the Beko CEG7425B. Had it for almost 3 years and it's still going strong.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That’s all that matters

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Dude. Aeropress is like the easiest thing

5 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 2

And cleaning an aeropress is a snap on top of making some yummy coffee.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TXEyvyHUnkM Inverted aeropress ftw :)

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In the morning, everything is too much.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's not hard, but it takes a lot longer than the bean to cup machine.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Aeropress and French press, at least once you have a routine down, about as many steps as a drip coffee maker. I worked in a house with a1/2

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

2/3 A little coffee station essentially, where she had her grinder and areopress. She’d usually leave me some when she ground hers.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

3/3 water in a kettle, push em through. Pretty simple, esp at 7am. Too bad that lady actually sucked in important ways, had great coffee

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Aeropress is great for one or two cups, but it is a lot more work if you drink 3+ cups

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

At that point just go French press or drip I guess

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Several minutes to grind the beans, (if done upside down) adding the water in stages to allow absorption. The "flip" can be awkward, too.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I've used the press fit years and never once had trouble flipping it. Are you grinding with a hammer? How does it take minutes?

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

My hand grinder is slow? Dunno.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Minutes?? You hand grinding? And measuring your dose? Preinfusion only needs 20-30 seconds and isn't even necessary?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Electric coffee grinders are one noise that just really messes with me, so yeah I grind by hand.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You using coffee beans, or just whatever beans you find laying around?

Beans? Luxury. We used to dream of having beans to make coffee. We'd pour water through old rolled up newspapers

5 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Oh we used to dream of old rolled up newspapers. We had to use our stale sweaty work socks from the day before

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

You were lucky to have socks! We'd take the wet newspapers, wear them to work on our feet, and then use them to make our "coffee" again

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Oh what we wouldn't have given to have wet newspapers to wear. We would have to tape sandpaper to the soles of our feet! Rough side up!
