Always strikes me how sturdy these street strays look compared to the pampered pooches you see from 'good homes'. You can see why a pack of them would be a formidable threat.
Well i also think I wouldnt get him off if I was in that situation, and while I'd like to think it would be because of "kindness" it would much more be fear of getting bit.
Chileans have such a kind and interesting relationship with stray dogs. There are a good amount of them, but they have regular caretakers (often multiple people who all take some responsibility). They are fed, have dog houses, and are even clothed. You'll see people regularly changing their clothes, and everyone is sure to put fresh clothes on the dogs after it rains. We even saw a stray in a jeggins onesie lol
Do they still have hyper aggressive guard dogs too? 30 years ago one attacked my baby brother and scarred his face (thankfully not forever) and it was considered normal enough they kept the dog. The brother took a long while to be okay with dogs after, even the small ones.
Compared to America is everyone is doing better. Do you really take them home and leave them there until you're back from work is better?? This how it should be. Also, Fuck America the fascist and genocide comitters.
I was in awe of the stray dogs in Chile, many looked really healthy for strays. And they were so smart! Sitting like good puppers waiting for the traffic lights to turn green.
I haven't been to Chile since 2009 so hopefully things have changed but that was not my impression. I saw a lot of very mangey dogs. I saw one that looked like my good boy back home and it broke my heart how matted and sad he looked. I know back then they were trying to change things so hopefully things have improved in the past 15 years.
Turkey actually does the same with dogs. Seen pics and vids of sleeping mats laid out for dogs there to sleep under eaves outta the rain. Unfortunately recent developments there are not dog friendly... but generally they have millions of street dogs too

And yet I notice they're not giving the stray belly rubs, the monsters!
Vamp13
thats a great way to ensure you get 4 or 5 vaccines to your stomach.
BlastyMcBlastblast
this is the 'no petting' car, they are respecting his space :D
whyforetho
Many dogs would not appreciate a random stranger touching their belly unprompted. Consent is important.
LordNoKids
This wakes the dog.
bound4doom
Not if done correctly, the dog wakes for just a second then goes, oh yeah and returns to slumber

Let sleeping dogs lie

I don't care if they're sleeping, they should always tell the truth.
