Just moved into new house and the Border Collie wanted to check out the neighborhood. 8 ft fence obviously not an issue for scaling over. Labrador being a Labrador didn't want to miss out and opted to dig under to share in adventure.

Luck would have it that lunchtime was in full swing at local elementary school. Pups shared in kid lunches until the Puppy Po Po showed up. Labradors being Labradors, Bishop hopped right in front seat of Animal Control vehicle. Lucy, the Border Collie opted to scatter as smart dogs do. Labrador got scritches and a car ride following Border Collie down the street to house. Over the fence and on private property she went.

Labrador was cited for city tags, (I'm new to area) and off leash plus holding fee and dog treat replenishment. Border Collie was over fence so couldn't prosecute.

Moral of story is, secure your surroundings for your pets, don't eat other people's food and always run from the cops unless they have snacks.

TLDR: Dogs escaped, ate well, got arrested.

I love that their personalities came through when getting caught. They're adorable!

Airport staff once handed our dogs back. They were caught walking across the runway. And were SO happy to get caught.

Jeez. Our unlicensed fee is a whopping $80.

homeboy was meant to be on a farm, telling sheep where to go and when to go. not in the big city with the idiot who's always grinning.

I thought ours was part border collie, you have convinced me she is mostly border collie.

If Collie's had thumbs we'd be fucked.

Treat replenishment. That's bullshit.

I love the image of the Labrador just jumping in the animal control van. You can't teach a lab to not trust strangers. <3

My sister's Lab is dumb as a brick, but boy does she love everyone she has ever met (except the guys working on the roof, they're scary).

Moral of the story is don't live in places where it costs 300$ for your dog to go out.

Do you believe that they consider you as their dad?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Great question. The GF made signs and photo but I consider both dogs equals to everyone in house. Respect

C'mon, borderless collies.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah, we thought 6 foot fence was enough for my collies. Was i ever wrong.

Our boarder collie will get our OESD to do what ever she wants, and often tricks her out of treats and kibble

I'm not comprehending the acronym here

Wait you for fined for 'off leash' for a dog that escaped? I mean I kinda get the rest but that just seems like adding insult to injury

8 years ago | Likes 106 Dislikes 0

It doesn't really matter why/how they are roaming around.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In most areas it's not an "off leash" violation, it's an "at large" violation. Meaning, you're getting cited for your dog being loose.

8 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

I was wondering about that one when a well trained dog does not need a leash. So it was really a dog outside of owner control.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 6

um you still get fined for not being on a leash if your are not in a leash free area even if your animal is "well trained"

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Correct. The law is the law. In most places tho, it only exists for the prosecution of fault, police won't go out of their way to cite you.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

You MIGHT get just a warning, but its a fine not a crime so it gets written and forgotten, no prosecution involved (unless its disputed)

Glad you got them back, and hope you don’t have to attend a BS “Animal Ordinance Class” that some states make you do. I’ve had the 1/

Displeasure of wasting 8 hours on a Sunday to one of those.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There are so many dogs in Seattle, I think folks would never be able to work with all the classes they would have to attend.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That’s why here in Colorado they’re held on a Sunday morning, in one of two locations in the state. Efficient, I know. At least the person >

Who was in charge of my class got a kick out of why I was there. Everyone else was there for some dog related thing. I fed a deer.
