As if the cameras weren’t bad enough, now they are hovering overhead. https://www.wxyz.com/news/region/oakland-county/oakland-county-commissioners-approve-9-month-flock-pilot-program-for-police-drones?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=newsletter_axioslocal_detroit&stream=top

Ffs even tho I live in california im so happy its a small town in a rural county and this shit would never pass. Too many weed farmers here for this shit.
SomeDetroitGuy
I live near Oakland County and have a few friends who do live there. They moved the public comment until AFTER the votes and there were a huge number of members of the public there demanding they don't do this. It's a complete shit-show and I'm convinced that a good chunk of those who voted in favor of it need to be investigated for possible corruption.

They “don’t anticipate “sharing the day with third parties. Until the day that Trump administration asks for it – then it’s open season.
Given the option, cops would have us all radio-chipped so we could be tracked. The same logic of “we’re just trying to keep people safe and track, missing children, elders, etc.” could and would be used.
There’s no limits to what they want… Only limits to what they can currently ask for.

So if there is NO IDENTIFICATION VISIBLE, It's open season !

If this won't spark interest in instructables, DIT electricboom and similar I don't know what will

I'm all for shooting drones down but do be conscious of the fact it is a felony to do so. Yes even if it's over your property. Yes even if you don't like it. Wear a mask at least
JAPONfan
shooting drones - yes. some random mass produced drone hitting the other drone? - not
TheLastSpaceman
Totally unrelated but...
1. Drones' blades functions depend of air density. If you light a fire directly beneath it, the air density becomes lighter and hovering drones would drop immediately. Homemade flamethrowers are great.
2. You can also buy cheap drones and attach various accessories to them and fly them into another drone.
3. Slingshots are fun! There is a disgusting lack of slingshots ownership among you kids. Go buy some!

'buy' ? itym 'make'

Shoot them. They're drones not people. Dont get caught still, but shoot them down. If you get caught you'll be in trouble but not for murder. Shoot them.
Frostedjakes
Shoot them with what, exactly?
JAPONfan
Just get some extra cheap mini drones from ali, order like 50 of them

With a firearm, where you’re responsible for every bullet that leaves the chamber? Where you need to know your target and what’s (in a ballistic arc) behind it? How good of a shot do you think people are? Energy weapons = no missed bullets/shot raining down on neighbors. I also assume energy weapons are not as noisy, meaning less people knowing something is being fired.

Time to finish my 5KW microwave directed EMP gun.

magnetrons only come up to certain (not that high) wattage, you want a klystron

HERF. High Energy Radio Frequency.

I don’t live in the US but I think I should consider making or getting something like that.
Here, the police have also started using drones. So far to capture speeding drivers and to analyze the smoke coming out of chimneys to make sure you aren’t burning trash and such. But with the current trend it’s gonna just be surveillance too.
Be a shame if their nice, expensive drone suddenly lost signal when flying around my property.
BiggRanger
Correct. EMP is for the wider audience, only the gifted would know what HERF means.

That being said, throwing a net over one would damage it less, which in theory should be less of a criminal offense... just in case.
