Yes, there are many problems in general, and additional ones for outsiders, both about the cultural differences and the simple fact that you aren't japanese.
Not that it means you'd 100% have a bad experience, that largely depends on what you like or not, the compromises you can accept or not, and largely on chance. Maybe your experience could be 100% positive, but for the average person it is quite far from the magical place given out by small depictions.
