You don't know how long my arms are, maybe I can touch both continents at different places.

that is incorrect. I’ve been there and they make a huge deal of saying it’s over a mile apart & not possible

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The actual rift is a few Kilometres across. The lake sits within that.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

So does that mean the gap is unclaimed? *starts packing suitcase with scuba gear and designing a flag in MSPaint.*

I took this snorkel tour a couple of years ago, via Dive.IS (look them up on TripAdvisor). The water is probably 32.1 degrees F.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Aren't you also touching the remnants of Pan-Gaea?

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I think you mean the North American Plate and the Eurasian Plate

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's like the globe's taint.

6 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Nah, that's south of Australia, the southern coast is the ass cheeks and Tasmania is the stray nugget hanging off by the hairs.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'd definitely pee there

*shifts*

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Two continents in an ocean sitting five feet apart because they're not gay.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Shouldn't North America be on the left? It is on my map.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It explains it poorly but it’s the point where the NAmerican and the Eurasian tectonic plates meet

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

which is like a line, not a spot. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I read your username as “Schrodinger scat food” and I just imagined you eating shit.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

'Stop pushing! We're far apart enough already!'...

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not pictured: the water is 2-3degrees C and will feel like you are swimming in an ice cube

Iceland is, geographically, neither part of Europe or of North America, it is a separate island nation per Google.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well, only from a geological point of view. FRom a political point of view you can't touch America and Europe.

It once was, remember. Until George Washington tried brewing tea with the Atlantic Ocean.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I can have one leg in French Guiana (an EU territory) and Brasil (a South American country) at once.

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

nice

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Question is,is better than bath water?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nope, there is more waterfilled rifts on Iceland....

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

if europe and north america are so close, why does the plane ride last so long?

6 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Because you arent flying to the closest points.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Water resistance > air resistance.

Smooth af.

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I'm pretty sure there is more than just that one spot... Like serously

6 years ago | Likes 203 Dislikes 5

nope, just that one spot, every other spot is just too wide.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Especially with really long jiggly arms

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nope. Everywhere else is africa

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There is. And they don't require you to be underwater either. I stood in a fissure between two tectonic plates while there and did the same

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Depends how big your hands are I guess

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

This is st þingvellir and there are plenty of cracks in the early there. Only 1 with clear water tho But the coutry is covered in cracks

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But the post said there is only one place and the internet never lies

6 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

Maybe they meant iceland in general?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

At least 2.5 spots.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

maybe as many as 7.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

The person who told them that was the same person selling the scuba tour. The actual continental divide is around kilometer below them.

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Everything on the surface is just brittle fractureing of the rock. If you go to thingvellir, there’s thousands of these sorts of cracks.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

All of that aside, the water there is some of the clearest on earth. It’s an extraordinary place, and you absolutely should check it out.
