I have been a lurker and member of Imgur for as long as I can remember. The first thing that ever drew me to this site, was a random stumbling upon of a NSFW subreddit. I then began exploring this site, and I have always loved it. The format is accessible, the community (for the most part) is fun and entertaining, this has always been my primary source for memes and even world events. But this issue is something that I have seen in the outside world all too often, and I am saddened and disappointed that it has so deeply affected one of my favorite media platforms. This website feels as though it is no longer acting in interest of its consumers, and is instead acting exclusively in the interest of its investors. I am not faulting Imgur for this; it is a business, and businesses must grow and prosper, and I do wish those involved financial prosperity. However, all of the things that attracted me to this site from the beginning are gone. Anything remotely related to mature content is deleted, comments and users are shadow banned for 9 times out of 10 ridiculous posts, hell I have received short-term bands for reposting "mature" images or memes that I literally would pull off the front page a few days or weeks prior (inb4 reposter). The final straw for me was Imgur no longer supporting NSFW subreddits. These subreddits were in no way identifiable as content of the base website, however Imgur has gone so overboard with it censorship policy that due to the possibility of a younger audience viewing offensive imagery, that now we all must be regarded as children. I do not wish to leave, and I'm not sure that reddit will be too much better, but I no longer wish to be a part of this community if this is the direction we are going to continue to travel in. To any and all of my fellow Imgurians who read this, I wish you all the best of luck, happiness, and the dankest of memes.
