It’s just a little bit crisp today

Heat wave. Hell yeah!

Luckily just a few clouds so the sun should help keep it a little warmer.

Fun fact: -40C is the same as -40F.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Gives credence to the version of the Canadian anthem that goes "I stand on cars and freeze"

Sasktoon?

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Close to it

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hah nice. Same. Except i was lucky and Ted Cruz’d myself away

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just reminded me I have to go out and do the boiling water toss thing with my kids when they get up. -33F here.

2 months ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Don't do it toward your kids please

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Don't use a big amount of water, just a small cup. Speed at which the toss is done is essential. You want to get small drops, not big globs!

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yo I thought -20 was bad enough

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You must be in the Prairies. Stay warm!

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ye a tad too cold for skiing.

2 months ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

Too cold for breathing.

2 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

The local ski hill is like 40 ft tall. You could still give er a go and not lose an appendage

2 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It'd be a shame if those "ICE" agents stepped out of their SUV's and stuck to the pavement.

2 months ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 4

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

We don’t have those here but we still hope they slip

2 months ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

At this temperature you might not even slip

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

At those temperatures....does it even matter what "it feels like"?

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It does, because the "feels like" is with the wind chill added. And wind feels so much colder than still air. -40C will always be cold, but at least if the "feels like" was also -40C you wouldn't have wind whipping in your face and making your eyes tear up which then freezes.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Its a dry cold

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Where I am it was more than 40 celcius today - it's meant to possibly hit 50 later this week! Crazy the difference!

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Must. Crochet. Faster. Must finish hat soon!

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Getting pretty chilly in honolulu too

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

damn going to finally need a jacket to go outside for that temp

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Just a little chill here, too

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Pretty normal for my area. Mid Jan to late Feb is always -30 to -45C (before windchill) been getting off easy with the low wind speeds this year honestly.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm in the caribbean but if I see Ted Cruz I'll punch his face (metaphorically, not an actual physical threat. *wink*)

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Freezes out the ICE in Minnesota.

Today is the General Strike Day. May today go down in history is the day the worm turns in the US.

Where is that?

-21 C here in Wisconsin--practically balmy!

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Where in the world are you located fren? oh my god| Please stay warm!

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The Great White North. And I have to go out in this. At least I’ll be numb after a few minutes

2 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Perhaps a heated astronaut suit would help.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I survived with several thousand layers

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I’m almost certain -40 and -52 would feel exactly the same to me….

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Having felt both in the past without the wind chill factor, -52 is significantly worse

2 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I’m going into shock and unconsciousness either way

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hey! You’re using Celsius. Are you in Canada? Always thought you were an American for some reason, sorry.

2 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

Negative 40C is the same as negative 40F.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

A fun fact!

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

yeesh ... I'm looking at a top of 40degC in Melbourne today, 44degC for Tuesday ...

2 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I prefer that. Easier to get cool than to get warm. The fact we can get that 80 degree swing in a year melts my brain a bit every time I think about it

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I disagree so much with this. At some point, there's nothing to take off to cool down, while you can just add another layer (or not go outside) if it gets crazy cold.

I have to drop off my kid at a nearby activity tomorrow and we'll walk in the feels like -30 something C. I can't say I wouldn't use the car on the feels like 40+C with humidity days in the summer.

That said, if humidity was not too high, I might be with you. That's not how summer is here :(

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

interesting ... I think it depends a lot on the quality of your housing - our temperature range is approx 6-36degC (43-97degF) most years so for us it's easier to throw on an extra layer or two of clothing as required but that's usually it ... cooling takes more energy, generally ... European students from regions where it gets properly wintry would often complain that they'd never felt colder than when living here ...

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Insulation is HUGE here. Good windows and doors and proper sealing of everything. Keep it warm in the winter and cooler in the summer. I have an acquaintance with a fancy house that is sealed so tightly that his HVAC system breaks his windows due to the vacuum which is not the goal but impressive nonetheless

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

-40. You don't even need a unit for that temperature.

2 months ago | Likes 132 Dislikes 1

Is it K

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My favorite weather tidbit

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

One of the little jokes I like to do is whenever someone mentions -40 I ask if that's in Celsius or Fahrenheit. It does not happen often and nobody laughs, but deep down I know it's a good bit.

2 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

If I ever find myself developing a UI that shows temperature, -40 will be special-cased to randomly show F or C.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'll add a special case to not show any units. Chaos reigns.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I mean, -40 Kelvin would be interesting. Terrifying, yes. But intetesting.

2 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

That is -531º F which is problematic because absolute zero, where molecules stop moving, is −459.67º F.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

The Thing is a 1982 American science fiction horror film directed by John Carpenter from a screenplay by Bill Lancaster. Based on the 1938 John W. Campbell Jr.
"It's 40 below zero"

Real feel is supposed to be -36 here in Quebec tomorrow! Almost t-shirt season.

2 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Actually, converted to Celsius it was a lot warmer than I expected (4.44).

Where is that? I’ve trying to find any place in Europe or North America that’s that cold. I can’t find anything.

2 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

It was that cold in the Kooteneys, British Columbia… and we heated with woodstove only …. That part I don’t miss
