Anytime! Check out the wiki for All Souls College for another rabbit-hole adventure. One takes “the world’s hardest exam” to get in.

OH MAN. Good for you, man. Especially the medieval manuscripts. Work with any illuminated ones? I went to an exhibit once and I drooled.

I do, quite often, work with illuminated/rubricated MSS—will be sharing some soon! :)

#3 people are still walking around in cloaks? Talk about old school

That was also my first thought.

So we wear gowns at formal events, exams, formal dining hall, and in chapel choir, so quite a few times a week!

That’s fancy as hell, man!! I bet as a freshman that feels really cool. Harry Potter cosplay must be so easy!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Do they make the 'whoosh' -noises too?

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

They actually do a bit! XD

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

From what I understand gowns at Oxford and Cambridge are only for formal ceremonies and exams

8 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

These are academic robes /regalia; they are to be worn to formal dinners as well.

Cloaks need to be a thing again.

And capes (fashion capes, not superhero capes though those would be awesome too!)

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

There's a person on Etsy who makes nice cloaks. USA based but will ship elsewhere. Just search "Versatile Fantasy Cape" to get to the page.
