Where even is Gotham? If Metropolis is NCY and Central City (and Smallville) are between Gotham and Metropolis, Gotham can't be NYC as well.

Since Metropolis is often depicted as NYC, I always thought Gotham was some sort of dark version of San Fransisco with NYC Art Deco design.
