I have a question, do retrievers or dogs bred for getting birds pluck the bird once they have it? My puppy who is lab likes to “pluck” rope.

I used to run dogs in Portland, one of my clients was some kind of nationally renowned for this kind of fetching ability.
He was rented out & flown across the country with first-class service & accommodations during hunting season. He was the chillest
most well-behaved and adjusted dog I ever worked with.
