Went to one of these in the UK with the kids. Brilliant fun, but of course, when it came to time to leave there were tantrums and tears. The kids eventually calmed me down and promised me we could go back.
as a dad of 2 boys, 5 and 3, this place is their dream and nightmare all at the same time. We've only been once and yeah it's pretty cool. Which coincidentally is the same for me.
Generally speaking, stationary amusement parks are pretty safe these days. Reputations build fast. The rickety shit that gets wheeled in for summer fairs is still scary carny shit, though.
"West" Berlin was defined by where the wall was. Once that got torn down, it was unregulated, and has been spreading ever since. Currently it's in New Jersey. Eventually Alberta. Then one day, it will finally loop all the way around and get East Berlin from the other side...
You can absolutely go by yourself! I had to cajole my friend into going, she thought it was dumb, but we had an absolute ball! They had something where you could pay a chunk of change extra to actually destroy cars in the big machines.
As an American, my understanding of the size of your nation is that this means that you are basically at the farthest point you can possibly be from them. Unless they aren't evenly distributed and they are all at the tip of Scotland or something. "Ye posh wankers cae hav ar tracter parks win ya pry em fra ar col ded Scottish hans" they probably say.
Yeah. I told a colleague from the Netherlands that my commute to my old job was 90 miles one way. He was aghast that I drove close to 200 miles in a day. He thought I was telling him kilometers. When i corrected him, he basically told me Americans are insane.

Missed opportunity, imo, they should have situated Diggerland on Doggerland.

And... you can't build this in *West Berlin* without a real German Bagger 288 ride!

I'd trust industrial machinery a lot farther than the average carny crap kept running with 2x4s and spare Ikea parts.

Is this just an issue of traffic and not distance?
pgdave
Isn't your whole country only a few hours drive from everywhere else? Unless you're like, deep in Wales or Northern Scotland?
Zaranthan
Europeans have a VERY different idea of what constitutes "day trip" distance.
skipweasel
A few weeks ago I did Telford to deepest Kent, then back and next day Durham and back...1200 miles in a weekend.
