I want an altitude meter showing how rapidly they descend

Very cool!! Is there any similar video for the whole Artemis trip?

Love being in an age to see this

Rewind! I think I saw my car keys.

I don't think you're ready for the SPLASH DOWN break you into pieces in a world of pain 'cause you're all the same, Yeah, it's the SPLASHDOWN

this was Artemis 1 not the recent #2. you'll notice it did a skip and re-entry that damaged tiles so they changed it this time

Just saw Apollo 13. Pretty good movie

Holy god this is terrifying. I mean, I <3 NASA and the Artemis project is awesome... but it's just super clear from this video that they're FALLING FROM SPACE. You literally cannot fall from any higher.

That’s more wobbly than I expected. Where is science side of imgur when you need them.

3 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

At the beginning when you see what looks like light flare buts its actually the atmosphere is amazing.

5 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hot! Hot! Hot! Hot! Hot! Aaaaah...

7 hours ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Uh……Houston, I’m smelling a sulfur leak somewhere. Maybe more than one.

10 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Wait … how did a bird shit on the window? This was obviously filmed in a studio backlot, sheeple!

5 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Early on, the horizon looks kind of angular, not a smooth circular arc with equal curvature everywhere. What's up with that?

8 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The window is rounded, so distortion there, plus there might have been a fisheye on the camera.

I could never be an astronaut. Watching this alone makes me want to hurl. Amazing that we have people willing and awesome enough to visit space for us.

so this is from the unmanned Art1? insanely cool, thanks for sharing!

Bouncy-bounce-bounce. This might not be comfortable at all. Hey dr. Erickson, how is that transporter development coming along?

15 hours ago | Likes 73 Dislikes 1

Dr Kleiner’s pet Lamarr broke it

10 hours ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Wow that's wild. So I guess there were *two* periods of flame/friction? That would seem to indicate that they did do the "skip" in the atmosphere - I thought they weren't going to do that though!

They had such speed they needed to bleed off that this sequence started above India - over half the planet away - and ended off the west coast of thr states. WOW.

2 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They did do a skip, but they changed the trajectory slightly from artemis 1.

11 hours ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

This IS Artemis I tho.

8 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh, I just assumed it was from yesterday's landing, but if it's from Artemis 1 that makes sense cause it did a skip as well.

6 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They did a skip, but only barely. They only gained a few thousand feet of altitude so that the heatshield stayed hot. Its believed the second heat cycle cause problems with the heat shield

9 hours ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

In my reading it's the cooling cycle. By staying low they kept a more optimal temperature range

6 hours ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

We're both right. The theory on why the heat shield had spalling before is that is got very hot, then when it bounce high again, it gave time for the overall temperature to fall, then on second heating, the core of the heat shield had begun to offgas, and that gas had no place to go, which is why the chunks got knocked free. Keeping it warmer the whole time eliminates this problem

I didn't know this view was available, but of course there's a recording of the craft view during the comms blackout. So cool

I remember the person talking to the astronaut's before the communications blackout saying they lost this camera feed and wouldn't be able to watch the parachutes deploy from the flight center, so this must have been a recording from the capsule. We would have missed the interesting part anyway because of the communications blackout.

6 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

ooo I'll have to check that out! the comms blackout live was a white-knuckle experience

This is Artemis 1

4 hours ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

It puts into perspective how fucking fast they're going. Mach 33 at one point. 40,000km per hour. That's the circumference of the earth every hour. And there's so much space debris up there that they won't even register the impact until after they're dead. Jfc no thank you

5 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Debris is tracked tightly, but also it's _very_ unlikely to actually hit a piece. The ISS sometimes maneuvers to keep a generous distance from an object.

While I'm completely convinced this is real, I wish the Artemis missions happened before AI became so prevalent, because we all know a shocking amount of people will say this it's all AI.

10 hours ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

I mean, knuckleheads didn't need AI to say all the previous space missions were fake.

4 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You should have seen the Twitch and YouTube chats on the livestreams. Those idiots were out in force.

10 hours ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

I'm having a real hard time with Artemis 2 for this exact reason.

I can't believe a single thing this administration says. What if they say they found aliens up there - would you believe them? What if they really did - would they tell you?

Hell, did it even happen? Or did Trump just pocket the money and release some clips? Is that even far fetched anymore? 🤦‍♂️

Glad it was uneventful, but ugh. 😑

This is flawed the same way as Apollo conspiracy theories: there's too many people involved in this for too long.

Also it's not hard to track the radio signal from Earth with a small dish antenna: https://dxzone.com/listening-to-spa">y-radio">https://dxzone.com/listening-to-space-how-to-follow-artemis-ii-and-the-iss-by-radio https://www.pe0sat.vgnet.nl/2026/artemis-ii/

With space, it's too hard to get everyone on board with the lie, since the evidence is available for anyone with good telescopes. China in particular both has a keen eye on space and no incentive to cover for American bullshit.

9 hours ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

we sure as fuck launched the rocket.

8 hours ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Boy, those NASA guys really learned a lot of from Kerbal Space Program, huh?

They definitely brought snacks!

Hopefully they don’t leave Jebediah on the Mun

My Jeb was never left behind, but often very crispy.
