check your local thrift stores, especially the ones in more affluent areas. I've seen those stand mixers in thrift stores a few times. you just have to go like once a week and you can probably find one

Even if they are a bit broken the gears and bits that break can be replaced. Some people machine metal replacements.

Online auctions. I’ve seen Kitchenaid stand mixers go for $50 still in the box. I even bought a second one just because it comes in handy once in awhile.
