USA healthcare is a joke! I had a MVA in late 2017 and ended up having to do ankle surgery to repair multiple tears. My auto and health insurance info was provided before the procedure to the surgeon (my treating podiatrist) and confirmed at the hospital at the time of the procedure. Today I received this! What the actual fuck! This is also the first bill I have gotten regarding this. I’m definitely calling my lawyer tomorrow morning. I’m freaking the fuck out! I recently filed for bankruptcy and it’s done, case closed and all debt cleared as of today! Ffs I have shitty luck. Is this even legal? Guess I’ll find out tomorrow. FUCK!!! Update: My lawyer has proof of all my insurance payments and is getting an itemized bill to figure out why that amount is so insane. Due to the statute of limitations I’m not held liable for anything. This was a roller coaster of emotions.

$218k? For one surgery? This sounds very strange.

I agree. This feels shady and I’m anxious to contact my lawyer to figure this out.

200k for ankle surgery? Somethin' aint right. But should all be cleared by your bankruptcy.

Feels like a shakedown.

It wasn’t included in the bankruptcy. I just found out now. Would it have showed up during the investigation the court and lawyer does?

Talk to your lawyer, and state laws vary, but likely your bankruptcy discharged that debt.

I appreciate the advice! Gonna call my lawyer first thing in the morning and find out.
