As someone who has fired guns before, in particular a .44 Magnum... you will go deaf even standing outdoors in the wide-open. I fired off six shots from a .44 and my ears were ringing so bad that it sounded like I was underwater when people tried to talk to me.
So being inside a car like that, the sound would basically be like a compact echo-chamber for that gunshot.
