Yep. I dated a doctor for a while, and I barely saw her. The hours are long, shifts are unpredictable, and even when they're not working, they're frequently on call so the things you can do when together are often limited.
I don't know if being a doctor means you can convince a couple lab techs and a radiologist to give your girlfriend an MRI and then interpret it, but I guess you would get a discount on "it hurts when you do that? Then don't do that"-level care.
