Remembering the Missing, Seeking the Light

I have so much grief right now for the children, mothers and fathers liked in Palestine, Ukraine and around the world who have been cruelly taken from us. I call my representatives and I'm active in local compassionate, progressive political activities, but it's not enough.

I'm also grieving the loss of the community and family that I grew up with in the Christian community who have drifted so far into hatred and malice that I cannot be part of them.

I'm grieving the loss of my cousin who faced so much and lost the fight, and those who showed me compassion and kindness but are now gone.

I am choosing today to turn away from the darkness and enter the river of light that is always flowing, always willing to accept me, even in the darkest times. I am seeking out others who value love, compassion and freedom for all people. I am finding new pathways away from the hate. Today I seek the sunrise, the light, the points of growth. Today, I will share my hope for a brighter future with others.
