Hmm. It really depends on the breed. Some grow tall, but most grow wide if given the chance.

If you have room, two feet apart or a little more should be good. I've had pepper plants turn into huge bushes. Depends on what they are, too. Even if planted too close, nature will find a way. Just send it if you don't have room - space evenly.
