I am against religion because it gives the religious permission. You can justify anything because it's all 'god's plan'.

#1 "I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours.” - Stephen Roberts

I do not have to respect your beliefs. I will respect your right to have those beliefs though, which means that I will be courteous of your beliefs when you say such bollocks to me and whilst I will not call them utter bollocks to your face, I reserve the right to question you about any that I consider immoral.

Before religion became tradition is when we should have started fighting it.

“Religion is like a penis: It’s fine to have one, and it’s even fine to be proud of it. But do not wave it in my face, and don’t try and shove it down children’s throats.”

I came here to drop that same sentiment with this meme.

The worst part of being an Atheist is that if I am right I'll never actually know.

Remember: religion poisons everything.

"Rib woman" really should've been phrased as "trans-woman clone," just to add that modern day touch to really upset the stupid ones.

I wish people would stop using the word proof. Evidence is a much better word, and a lot of proof isn't any such thing.

3 weeks ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Here Proof is a good word ...

3 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yes. This is a good place to use the word proof.

I feel exactly the same way about people who believe in god as I would about an adult who still believed in a literal Santa Claus. Scary thing is how many of them there are and the positions of power they hold.

Please do! This timeline sucks!

I've always said that religion started with the person who contributed the least to the clan. in order to show their worth they came up with stories to calm the others in the cave while the thunder and lightning raged outside. In time they discovered that the power to convince others that they themselves were holy was a very profitable enterprise. Thus we have Paula White and Joel Osteen. Even PT Barnum knew this as his most famous quote says "there's a sucker born every minute".

It can't come as any surprise that a system which explicitly demands exemption and veto over all reason, moral or rational, fails to produce promised good behaviour.

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They literally do not care.

3 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh just the that more people have died (killed/murdered) in the name of a god than for any other natural disaster/disease... combined.

3 weeks ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 3

Wrong. Communism, actually, holds that mantle. Far more people died thanks to Communism than in all the 'holy wars' combined. Communism, which stems from what religion? Oh that's right, none of them. Atheism has plenty of blood on its hands. Religion is far from innocent, but once you say that there's no God for men to be made in the image thereof, killing them becomes infinitely more palatable. All it takes is one Great Leap Forward...

"Throughout history, there have been approximately 3,000 worshipped deities. You believe in precisely ONE of those 3,000. I contend that you and I are *both* atheists . . . I simply believe in one *fewer* god than you do."

And therefore.... we logically deduce that he was also able to walk on wine.

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

When walking on water, did he leave wine-flavored footprints?

Only backwards, like the MJ moonwalk.

#16 Time for some etymology and vocab:
The Greek prefix a- means 'not' or 'without'
The ancient Greek word theos means deity.
So literally, 'without deity'

amoral - without morals
asymptomatic - without symptoms
atrophy - without/not growth
anomoly - not even, not uniform, not the same
amorphous - without shape
asymmetrical - without symmetry

Now let's do (A)pathetic - without experience or emotion (pathos). (A)gnostic - without a knowledge (Gnōstikos). Together it means - Don't know, Don't care or unknowable, don't care to know.

I'm more inclined to believe an ancient race of highly evolved beings allowed themselves to be worshiped as gods by the Greeks and Romans, then got tired of our complaining so they slipped a fall guy into center stage with his less successful son.
