Kinda panicking...

Sep 26, 2020 12:22 PM

Just bought my first sewing machine. I think I will be in a slight stage of panic until it arrives, around Thursday I hope...

Future baby and hopefully new best friend. Can't wait. I'm also scared because it's second hand.
Nah, it will turn out fine! Wish me luck!

(Sorry for potato picture, imgur is mad at me I guess)

Second hand for something like this is a good decision as repairs aren't complex or expensive. Ingenious machines they are.

Why buy second hand? I thought those were cheap. I was taught thread n needle "cause machines break" so ive never shopped em

Machines only break if you dont know how to use them. Its mainly people messing up when it comes to the stitches that jams them.

Once you get the nack its far superior in speed and uniformity, along with tons of different stich patterns. All about eye foot coordination

Oh im sure. My gma sewed by hand and used a clothesline. Machines werent part of my skillset

They are cheap if you consider 350€ is cheap. I saved 100€ by buying second hand a machine that was bought new this year, it has been >

> serviced by the seller and I still get a 5 years warranty. Pretty good deal in my opinion

I've got a sewing machine from the 90s I inherited from my grandmother and and a death ray from Uncle Zygroth from the 70s. Both work fine.

Yeah i also got a manual vintage machine but it doesn't work right now. Planning on fixing it though

Because sowing machines brand new are expensive as fuck. Besides they don't tend to break if you get a good one, also better for enviroment.

*Sewing machines. You can get cheap ones but they are shit, a good ol' Singer from the 80s is better than a cheap one today.

Also singer nowadays are shit.

Wouldn't be surprised, know wonder the old ones hold value.

Like i said ive never shopped them i didnt know they were spendy. My grandma taught me to use a needle, she hated anything electric

Sewing by hand is more meditative yes, both require the same skill. If she ever tried one im sure would have liked it. I understand though.

My gpa bought her one she wouldn't touch it. Had the old school stubborn built in. If the power goes out i can still patch pants, so i win

Yes but having a machine makes so many more things possible. Making hard stitches quickly and being able to experiment in more ways.
