Huh so being a SJW is popular now. I wonder what wrong with the world and the constant thought that one needs to be offended over anything and for everyone.
umm, I'm from wayy south of Río Grande (heard of Caracas?), Spanish is my native language, and of course you're going to teach me what's offensive to Latin Americans
While I do believe you are free to express yourself. And I don't find this offensive. But just because I'm Peruvian doesn't make me think I can speak for all Peruvians , let alone all Latin Americans. Not taking a side, just sharing a thought.
Of course we can't speak for anyone other than our respective selves. I can tell you that I've seen stereotypes about Venezuelans and while they do have some negative features, we acknowledge that there's no ill will, let alone racism. Here's one that gets laughs in r/vzla:
Whether or not it's funny is subjective and will vary from one person to another. However, we can explain the joke: It's a play on the word "alien". It's juxtaposing a person from another country with a creature from another planet, both of which fit a definition of the word "alien" https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/alien It's a rather old joke (I'm 50 something), but these folks put a lot of effort into the execution.

Absolutely none of that is verifiable, or relevant.

because it's a play on words - the aliens in the anime are 宇宙人 and the aliens here are メキシコ人
eion85
And why is it funny to call people from Mexico in what appears to be the US aliens?
Saying "I'm from Venezuela I can't be racist against Mexicans" is rather like someone from London saying they can't be racist against the Welsh.

I think you're misunderstanding the word "alien". Remember when Sting would sing about it?
