The GOP continues to work extremely late hours to try and finish up the Felon's "Big, Beautiful Bill," and ram it through Congress before the public can learn what's being squeezed into it behind closed doors. That means they're going to vote on it this week, possibly even tomorrow, Wednesday the 21rst. Luckily, there's still time to call your representative/s and tell them to vote against this bill.

(the link's about a specific part of the bill, but it will still help you find the number of your representative/s).

Not using the politics tag on this one, because if you or your loved ones use Medicaid or get food aid, or any form of government assistance, this will affect you and them, possibly with fatal consequences, which is all the more reason you should call. Even if it's midnight, call and leave a message saying, "My name is __________, and I'm asking Representative _________ to please vote against the Republican's Budget Reconciliation Bill."

So many words for a bill that could be summarised as "get more power, get more profit".

Also The ability of federal judges to hold the Trump administration in contempt for defying their orders could be undermined by legislation approved by a House Republican-led committee late Wednesday in a bill that may be impossible for Senate Democrats to filibuster.

If any democrat has a shred of strategy in them they will put a rider on the sale of public land to restrict it to lease only.

Does it take matter if the public knows what's in it? What can you really do about it?

Food stamps are very effective at reducing poverty. The return on that money is between something like 300-500%

I'm experiencing self-hate right now.

Don't forget the little part that makes it so Trump can't be charged/convicted of past crimes.

Well, there's hope that when Americans get unemployed because AI, then they'll finally find the time to organize and depose their criminal leaders.

Organize using the communications infrastructures owned and monitored by the financial backers of the new Reich...
Unless we're going to resort to hand written notes, they'll mine our data and lock us up before we could gain any traction.

remove the tax on gun silencers.... BRO THEY'RE LEGAL?

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Those “states rights” people sure do love to try and take them away whenever they’re in power… not to mention it’s illegal.

10 months ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 0

Not as illegal not being white in their white America

10 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That’s what happened before the civil war. The slave states would constantly try to introduce federal legislation to take away free states self governance rights to recognize runaway slaves as freemen.

States rights have always meant rights of conservative states to oppress progressive states

And it passed… USA is f***ed and getting more f***ed

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It passed the House, but it still has to go through the Senate, so there's still time to stop it there... but yeah, this is awful. Truly, utterly awful. I almost had a panic attack at work thinking about what might happen if it becomes law.

Our Nation is dying, ma'am. Since you have "I voted" in your profile, I'm guessing you do care.

10 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I absolutely do care. And I don’t block politics. But I did for a while when I needed a break, and it makes me sad when others aren’t afforded the respect. Imgur is all about compassion and mental health, except when it isn’t. For the life of me I don’t see why this is a debate. Just be considerate of people who are suffering mentally.

I am 100% with you. I don’t mute the politics tag but I like that other people can and I have that option. Imgur is not my primary news source. It is my entertainment source.

*Community note: it takes far less time and effort to scroll to the next post than it does to bitch about a post.*

We’re trying to support mental health, equal rights, BLM, LGBTQ+, education, and common decency.

Also, the post is appropriately tagged.

The biggest issue (in America, and I reckon plenty of other areas around the world, but I don’t live there, so I only deal with repercussions of American greed) is that all of this costs money to work towards. Which is the biggest incentive for everything. Not the betterment of society as a whole. As long as more money is involved, it doesn’t matter what collateral damage there is. It’s saddening how ugly people tend to become when more profit is involved.

But, I don't want to be woken up by the sound of gunshots?

10 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

then you're not in luck, most guns fire supersonic rounds, so "silencers" don't really do much for them

10 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

even with subsonics, they are still pretty loud.

10 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

true, but with super sonic rounds it's just like... somebody dropping a 50 pound tome from the second floor of a very library with great accoustics onto the hard wood floor below and it slams completely flat... like REALLY loud... just not loud enough to damage your hearing, only almost loud enough...
but with subsonics, it's somebody slamming that same tome shut without dropping it from 40 feet up

Why is he still alive?

10 months ago | Likes 57 Dislikes 0

Because you’re not doing anything about it. You’re the chosen one.

Off with their heads!

The fact a judge just threw out an AI-written court filing recently makes the state-level AI regulation VERY concerning.

10 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I am asking how all you are still alive with a government like that

10 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The kid had poor aim

10 months ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

No one has balls to do anything. I could say the same for Netenyahu or Putin.

10 months ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Russia hasn't spent decades being obnoxiously self aggrandising across all of pop culture about their guns and freedumbs.

10 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Really? You haven't seen him riding bareback or discovering treasure while snorkeling? My point really is all these 'leaders' are internationally guilty and we do nothing. Proving the whole dream of the League of Nations, that then became the UN is a joke and just pep talk nonsense.

10 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

The UN certainly can't compensate or in any way deal with the massively moronic and asinine culture that the US has, no. You're entirely right on that. I doubt anything could.
